hey y’all was wondering whether anyone who’s out of town during the winter and happy to rent apartment (either 1 or 2 rooms) for a month (Jan 2027 - thinking of staying there until on campus housing opens on Jan 14) Or where’s the best place to find renters? Better off going with Airbnb?

Every semester prior to this one was on average B+. Why did the average drop to oblivion during Spring?
I don't believe it's chatbots like my friends believe because ChatGPT has been long ingrained in classes before last semester. I've been using it for homework since 2023 in highschool.
The projects are pretty good and didn't really need Chat either. I'm just very surprised how low the average is in Dan Garcia's class. I don't know why he didn't re-bin the averages.

Does anyone else feel cooked already? The practice problems are so hard and are barely related to what we learned about in lecture?? And the professor is honestly so bad at teaching bro like i didnt realize a nobel prize winner could be SUCH a bad lecturer until now. Half the time im like what is even going on why is he talking about yeast experiments and stuff and fancy microscopes instead of actually teaching us whats gonna be on the midterm?

i'm a berkeley student and i left my physical baypass clipper card in my dorm in berkeley. i'm away from campus right now and never registered the card on the clipper app.
is there any way to find my clipper card number/details through cal central, a berkeley portal, or by contacting berkeley so i can register it in the clipper app? i don't need a replacement since i know where the physical card is, i just need the card details while i'm away from it.

is it possible to be in two consulting clubs at the same time? i got into two and they both kinda do different things / have different focuses, so i feel like i’d get something different out of each.
if it is allowed, how manageable is the time commitment for doing both? has anyone done two consulting clubs at once, and did it end up being too much with classes and everything else?

Hey everyone,
As a student at Cal, I’ve always found it super annoying how scattered local info is around campus. Whether you’re trying to find a sublessor for the summer, a workout partner, travel buddies for break, or just cool stuff happening around town, everything gets lost in chaotic GroupMe chats, buried Facebook groups, or random IG posts.
That’s why I’ve spent the past few months building Kavanaka. It’s a student-powered interactive map specifically for Berkeley to share and discover local finds, needs, and events in real-time.
I'm currently looking for early student testers from Cal to try it out and give feedback on bugs or feature ideas.
(Note: I'm partnering with Caltonight on Instagram, and they're giving out free TP Tea boba vouchers to helpful testers who receive a certain number of likes.)
Search "Kavanaka" on the iOS App Store or check out kavanaka [dot] com.
Would love for you guys to test it out and drop any feedback or feature requests in the comments!

So I’m four years out approximately, and got into one of these clubs. A comment sparked my curiosity which is whether the clubs are good for filtering and getting consulting job at McKinsey. The answer is yes as it’s a bit of a mini-prep course, but I have found no one to have any non-linear career outcomes so far bc they got into a consulting club.
What I mean is no one is like just really outstanding, they just did the whole 2+2 thing and lost alot of sleep in exchange for a higher salary, and the economy four years ago is better than the current graduating lot. Maybe they got into a good mba program or high paying gig somewhere, cool.
The same is true for YC founders, who have an astronomical failure rate. Point is to learn from those failures and create another one but actually YC is bad because it ties you to a certain project when you might need to pivot.
I think doing what you like will yield the most positive EV career wise since then you have a chance at hitting a grand slam, it’s like if you don’t like chess you’re never going to be super good at it.
I’m doing finance right now but a large part of my success is still attributed to hopping a midnight, and it’s not like I’m widely economically wealthy.

After loosing to bum UCLA, I have come to a conclusion. The Cal football team keeps losing because they don’t walk. I ALWAYS seem the athletes getting picked up and transported all over campus in their little go carts. It’s OBVIOUS the members need to stop commuting via go cart and start walking to win. Just a thought…
Anyways #fucla & lets chop them trees soon

I know the job market is bad, but I would like to know HOW bad to mentally prepare myself as I have heard horrors.
Im a mech eng major and long story short, I plan on moving to my home country after graduation. Because the economy there is lowkey in shambles, the exchange rate would mean that anywhere from 45-65k USD is amazing.
So how competitive/difficult would it be to get a remote job upon graduating that pays this much? To clarify for remote, I wouldn't mind going to office or wtv a few times a yr so it doesn't need to be a fully remote company, but for aforementioned planning-to-move reasons, that's about it. If anyone has experience with this kind of job hunting, let me know!! Id love to know how many jobs you applied to, etc.

Ok so I'm definitely not one to generalize or speculate and I hate making assumptions but I kinda need to write about this.
Ik consulting club rejections can be super random, but something was just really off about this one.
I really thought I was well positioned to at least make it past the first round; I poured my soul into the essays, and talked about my past internship experience and my passions, attended events and spoke with board members who (seemingly) liked me.
I know someone else who even objectively stated that they weren't gonna get in bc they had almost no experience and I had a good shot.
I end up getting rejected. I know I shouldn't look for reasons but I'm now realizing how seemingly homogenous the club seems in terms of race. (I'm not that race, for clarification, and the person I spoke to was, and they got in) I know social fit can be a factor, but is it true that some of these clubs (even when they state they don't take race into consideration) seemingly do so? I don't wanna jump to conclusions, but just wanted to know if this was something that happens.
I may be reading too much into it, but it did really irk me initially.

I know we're already 3 weeks in, but I have a contract with housing on campus for a full academic year. Absolutely hate it, has anyone successfully got out of their housing contract besides dropping out or for medical reasons?
Also, anyone have any pointers for off campus housing? Mostly looking around near Northside but whatever is close to campus and in a house (not apartment, unless alone in a studio or 1br) would be ideal.
