two consulting clubs at once

is it possible to be in two consulting clubs at the same time? i got into two and they both kinda do different things / have different focuses, so i feel like i’d get something different out of each.

if it is allowed, how manageable is the time commitment for doing both? has anyone done two consulting clubs at once, and did it end up being too much with classes and everything else?

Consulting clubs are a lot of work? They're some of the most time-consuming clubs on campus. They have numerous social events, retreats, recruiting obligations, and client work (which you aren't always able to just neglect because group sizes are often small.

Theyre work but at most that of a 2-3 unit class, usually 3 hours a week of slideshow, 1 hour client facing call every other week, 1 hour team call every week, there are way harder things but thats just my opinion

Some clubs do have a rule of either no other consulting/time-consuming clubs or no joining two consulting/time-consuming clubs in the same semester. I don't think most do but most would definitely prefer you don't.

I haven't done this personally but I talked to a few people I know who have done this or something similar since I was considering doing the same. I probably will end up choosing two consulting clubs at once (though one will be more tech consulting).

To answer your questions:

It's a lot. You can ask the club about the sort of time commitments but most consulting clubs I've seen ask for 10-15 hours per week. It will be on the higher end typically in the first semester. The amount of work isn't 10-15 hours per week but when adding socials and things like general meetings, it adds up fast. I think it's manageable if you don't plan to have a ton of other major commitments and if your classes aren't that bad. It'll get better after the first semester.

The main issue though is not the time commitment. It's that the events will be constantly overlapping. Retreats will overlap. Welcome events will overlap. Seasonal events will overlap. This will make it more difficult to get to know people in each club and may make it hard to feel truly integrated into the community.

The people whom I asked managed it okay and didn't regret it.
