Did 2002 still feel like the 90s?
What do you think?

Every once in a while, we see posts from people asking about things like the “least painful way to die” or “how much alcohol would be fatal.” These are serious cries for help.
If you come across a post like this:
If you’re ever feeling like you’re in that dark place yourself, you don’t have to go through it alone:
The best thing we can do as a community is to look out for each other. If you see one of these posts, report, don’t reply.

(24M) Well, i matched with a woman two weeks ago, and we went to a date. Was an amazing date, and we talked about a second date after. But these last few days i've been anxious about what will be my future. I'm not finding any job at my area, and this is consuming me. I've been thinking on which path will i follow. If i start another college course, if i go to a tech school or associates. It is a hard decision for me to take. So rn i'm not in the mood to socialize or going to dates. I feel i couldn't dedicate myself to a relationship if i'm with these problems in mind, i wouldn't feel relaxed. I'm easily overwhelmed.
So i ended up not messaging her after the last date 10 days ago.... What should i say? It is a very awkward situation and it is my fault.

In the last two years I’ve come to really dislike lots of modern technology, particularly the smartphone. Yes, I realize the hypocrisy of saying this as I type it from a smartphone, but there are levels to this.
For example, last night I was down at my in laws for dinner. They had family in town for the weekend that we had not seen in a few years, and it was awesome getting to catch up with them. Me and my wife were sitting at the little sunroom dining table, and in front of us in the main sunroom area, were all the rest of the family, 8 people in total not counting me and my wife.
My wife and I were talking and she stopped and quietly pointed out that every single one of them were quietly staring down at their phones, fixated on god knows what. I don’t know if it matters, but for context the group consisted of mostly boomers and (7) and 1 gen Xer. Me and my wife are 42/40. (Millennials/xennials)
They were ALL just mindlessly on their phones completely oblivious to the world. It was sad cause I know they don’t get to see each other often and while I also know that two of them are in phenomenal shape, they are also pushing 80 years old.
I finally said, “guys, look at what you’re doing!” And no one responded. It was like they didn’t even hear me…some of them probably literally didn’t but plenty of them have great ears still.
Once I finally got their attention (very light hearted, not actually giving anyone a hard time cause I love these people dearly) I said “what on earth could be better on your phones than talking with your family who you never get to see???” ..one of them responded that they were “looking for something to show my wife” which struck me as odd. They didn’t say it in a defensive way, but more of a justification.
For the last 6 months or so, I’ve started to carefully watch drivers on the other side of the road, coming towards us, and I don’t wanna tell you how often they are not even looking at the road. The giveaway is ALWAYS the “chin down and right” look. I notice in public areas like supermarkets, parking lots, parks…anywhere where people are walking around, most of the time people have to have their phones IN THEIR HAND, even though they have pockets or a purse.
The number of times I have to honk at someone when the light turns green because they are looking at their phone is pretty much a daily occurrence. Sometimes it’ll be a 2 lane green light and BOTH CARS in front of me won’t go. It’s almost like the one car said to themselves, “I’ll just go when the other car starts moving in my peripheral vision” but they BOTH did it.
For my part, I’ve removed the things that are super addictive like social media from my phone (minus Reddit, which I genuinely still find quite useful). I have a podcast where I have to update people about new episodes and just generally engage with my audience so I haven’t gotten rid of THAT social media account but personal social media is no longer on my person.
I’m not saying all this because I look down on anyone or anything like that, and I DEFINITELY don’t think I’m “better” than anyone. I just feel like they don’t really realize how bad it’s gotten, and it genuinely makes me sad. I mean, when you can be in a room with TEN PEOPLE who are all family that haven’t seen each other in a long time and every. Single. One. Of them is just mindlessly looking down and doom scrolling while Fox News plays on the tv, it worries me.
What are your thoughts on this??? Have you personally made any changes? I haven’t committed to fully ditching the smartphone but if I could find a “feature phone” that had all my must haves (banking, GOOD maps, podcasts and audiobooks, 2FA) I would STRONGLY consider it at this point. And yeah I know I can just remove apps.
It’s amazing how quickly this happened too, historically speaking. To change an ENTIRE populations societal behavior so fundamentally like this…it’s just bizarre. Now when I see people doing these things…I just think “they look like zombies.”
Help me see a better future. What do you think?? Is society basically just zombies now waiting for that next dopamine hit from their phone?

I'm not currently cross dressing, but I used to. From my experience when I did it pretty much killed my dating chances. I've tried Taimi some, because of this, but people on there seem more socially awkward than me if that's possible. I'm also trying Facebook dating, but under my male profile, since my female one just seemed to confuse people. I personally don't see the issue, but apparently a lot of people do.

Long story short I’m writing a literary rpg story that’s about an inter dimensional species opening up portals into our world and releasing thousands of grunts throughout cities across the world. These alien grunts harvest the souls of sentient species they kill, can flip cars and are resistant to regular rounds but can eventually be killed with regular gunfire. In the case of the American response, if every major city in every state simultaneously had to deal with a land assault of several thousand aliens coming through portals, who would respond first? and how well (or not) could it be handled?

I never want to go to sleep and once I wake up I don't want to go back to sleep. Why is that
Like I be going out not that often but every now and again and it's quite hot and I haven't really tanned or sunburnt at all but I still get paranoid that I'm damaging myself because I haven't really been using suncream

For a bout a year now I’ve been having sudden hearing loss episodes. My left ear completely goes out for about 2 minutes and then fully returns in about 2 more. ENT says my hearing and ears look good, and that it’s likely vestibular migraines. Anyone else have anything similar with migraines?

Like one, who asked, and two, did no one ever teach you how to be socially polite or did their parents no love them enough???

So I work at a small store, it's a small franchise that consists of 4 stores, we have kitchens, meat markets, drive through, bakery, and several other things. I really don't know my job title but I generally work at the back of the store, restocking and cleaning (front and back) and sometimes I work in the Meat Market or Cash register ( when we're low on staff I do all 3).
There's 2 Cash registers inside the store and only one has a credit card terminal while the other only takes cash. Back when I was a cashier, my managers would ask me to try and get as much money on the cash only register as I could and when I did they would ask me to stop for certain amount of time (ex: 3-4 weeks) and this would happen periodically, I would go about 7-12 days constantly using that register. I eventually asked why this happened and one of my managers told me that the owner uses that money to fix and buy stuff for the stores, while the register with the credit card terminal is the money they report to the IRS, I thought it was wierd but idk, thats why I'm here lol.
Also, there's been a significant decrease of products in the store and our hours have been getting cut, me and my brother theorize that the store is bankrupt or at least having money problems because of these reasons and several other things that have been happening, one of my managers claims that this past year was one of our best years but another manager has slipped out every now and again that we are in fact bankrupt.

For example, someone might judge a person for acting rude while excusing or overlooking the same rude behavior when it comes from someone they like, such as a friend or family member.

She bandages my bloody hands, makes me dinner, drives me home, does all sorts of stuff. She also checks on me when I'm sick. Other female coworkers noticed she really likes me. She's very protective of me. She tells me not to go to strip club, listen to my grandma, drink more water. She warned me against this lady who wanted to marry me because she probably wanted something from me. I figured out that lady she warned me about just wanted money. I have a lazy eye and a crooked foot. Yesterday she surprised me with dinner. Homemade chiliquiles. Homemade Mexican food theres nothing better.
She's married and my friend. She agreed to my dumb birthday requests, like hugs and kisses on the cheek and a bikini photo because I wanted to see her in one. She's also going to make me food. Our mutual friend said she was smiling while reading my requests. Kissing a friend and giving them a bikini photo i say definitely crosses marital boundaries. I'm not that experienced with women so I have no clue but other women have noticed shes very fond of me. I'm still in complete shock. I'm soo excited for my birthday it's going to be the best one yet

My motion sickness has been horrible since I was a kid. Cannot go on boats and even when I am in the car as a passenger ( ESPECIALLY when I am in the backseat) I get so nauseous that I almost puke/ have puked before. Had a pretty bad car ride today and still feeling nauseas. Why is this?

My dad was in the military when i was a child so I moved frequently. My husband was a child of poverty so he moved often while usually staying in the same county.
We bought a house when our kids were 2 and 4. They are 8 and 10 now, have lived in the same town their whole lives, and will grow up in one home. Id lived in 13 different places by 10. My husband wasnt far off.
So what's it like growing up on one spot?

Unfortunately in the looks department I was not blessed. My height and frame are average, my facial structure is quite poor.
Im not some depressed self-loathing guy who sits around bitching about his poor looks all day. In other aspects of life i'm doing well, I was born into a wealthy family, I have a tested IQ of 126, I do well academically and have quite a good social life.
The issue is when I ask advice on how to be succesful in dating as an unattractive guy, people recommend I go for my "looksmatch"(people of a similar looks tier to me). The issue is my neurology and desires are no different than a good looking guys', just because im ugly doesn't mean I'll naturally feel attracted to ugly girls. It feels like I'm in a dilemma where I have to either date girls im not attracted to or just remain single for life and die alone. So please, if there is any way I can manipulate myself into being into unattractive girls, tell me how
I don't know what I've got but it's on the wife's fix me list and I just found it.... I just want to make sure I fix it right.

We've heard so many scare stories about AI, and the real- world stories about AI agents escaping into the wild.
Are there real safeguards out there to stop this from becoming a disaster?

I’m 19 and I really want to become financially independent, even if it’s just earning a small amount of pocket money for now.
I don’t really get pocket money from home. My aunt gives me some occasionally, but it isn’t enough to last, and I feel awkward asking my parents or relatives for money repeatedly.
I want to start earning at least ₹1,000–₹2,000 per month on my own. It doesn’t have to be a lot. I just want to have some money that I’ve earned myself. I have no idea where to start, though.
I’ve never done freelancing or gigs before, and I’m not sure what actually works or how quickly these things can realistically start generating money.
Some skills I have:
R programming
Basic video/photo editing
Canva
Making PowerPoint presentations
MS Office
Some experience with biology-related projects
Basic experience with things like molecular docking and sequencing
I’m currently working on research projects, so I’m also learning more computational biology/bioinformatics.
I’m a college student, so I don’t have a huge amount of free time either.
For someone in my situation, what would be a realistic way to start earning ₹1k–₹2k per month? How should I actually approach clients or find small gigs when I have no freelancing experience?
I’m looking for practical advice from people who have actually done this.
