USA I regret my abortion so much and I don’t think I can forgive myself

Upvotes

Hi i’ve posted in this subreddit as well as a couple others about my experience and I don’t really have the energy to explain everything over again. I’ll give the basics though:

I turned 18 recently got pregnant when I was 17 and kept my pregnancy until week 13 so I knew for a while. I learned the gender and my partner was super supportive and came to all my appointments. I talked to my therapist but no one else really and we really struggled with the decision.

We ended up telling my mom and his parents a couple days before my planned procedure and they took it well besides my bf’s mom (i have a previous post about everything that happened if you are curious). It was really bad she said and did a lot of horrible things even tried to report me to the police because my boyfriend and I have a 3 month age gap (we’ve been dating for over two years and we were both 15 when we met).

I’ve had so much regret and grief. It’s been over a month but I cry almost everyday and think about it CONSTANTLY. All i can think about is how stupid I feel and how much regret i feel.

I grieve my baby so hard and I feel so much anger at my bf’s mom. Ultimately I made the decision but I was so close to canceling that appointment or leaving. My bf and my mom both told me multiple times I didn’t have to go through with it if it didn’t feel right and I just don’t know why I didn’t leave that fucking clinic.

Maybe it’s just weird emotions but I feel like I should have been stronger and that’s bf’s mom’s reaction played such a large role in scaring me into not wanting a baby around that kind of behavior.

I honestly don’t know she’s said so many things and even though my bf has attempted to cut her off and neither of us have seen her since he’s turned 18 she’s texted him and my bf’s dad so many inappropriate things about how we proved her and her family right, i’m a bad person, i’m sexual, so much more. She also told my dad without my permission which was really hard.

I’m just so so angry and upset and sad ALL the time. I have so much anger towards the world right now. I know it takes time but i’ve tried to grieve. I have a box of all of our memorable things, i’ve been in therapy, i’ve tried to find logic and forgiveness for myself. I even got a tattoo in memory of my baby.

I don’t know how to forgive myself. I loved my baby and I planned everything out down to the school he’d go to and I picked out a name. I just don’t know how to handle this.

I’m not sure if this is just a rant post or if i’m looking for ideas but I wanted to put this out here. Relating to others helps but it also makes me sad so i’m not sure how much good it does.

USA Torn on making a decision..

Upvotes

My significant other and I (both 25) been together over 7 years, and found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago, I should be around 7 weeks and I can’t decide what to do. He told me whatever I choose he supports and if I decide to terminate we can try again in a few years when I’m ready. He said he knows I’ve always wanted to be a mom and what hurts me is I do want to be a mom more than anything but I’m not sure if right now is our time. We have family always ask us when is it our turn and that we’re getting old and we just say we’re enjoying our life because how are we old at 25?? I lost my job a while ago and still looking, he makes decent money so we’re doing good with just him working right now. And I feel so bad putting that burden on him if I continue this pregnancy as it would be a while after birth that I would work. We haven’t bought a house yet, we haven’t had the wedding we both want yet, we still want to travel, I feel as if we aren’t ready to give up our life as just us two yet. I’m also scared, I’ve heard people say they regret having children when they weren’t ready and wish they would have waited and I don’t want to feel like that. I also feel like I won’t have the support I would want from my parents, they had a nasty divorce a couple years ago and they can’t stand being around each other, so I also think about how will everything work if I can’t have my parents there (gender reveal, baby shower, help after birth). I do have extended family who will drop whatever they’re doing to help but I can’t rely on them as they have their own family/lives. I do struggle with mental health and I’m terrified about postpartum as I’ve read about different experiences. But still something in me wants to keep it at the same time because I’m afraid I will regret having an abortion. I know how selfish all of this sounds but I needed to vent and I’m really torn. I have an appointment scheduled for the surgical procedure this week but I’m unsure what to do. I’ve told my mom and sister and mom supports my decision and agreed to drive me but I know it tore her when I told her I was thinking termination. I just need to hear different experiences or someone relating. Thank you for reading this far, I’m sorry if I blabbered so much.

USA Abortion at home went well

Upvotes

Hey! I wanted to write this to reassure some people who are concerned/affraid to get an abortion. Of course I don’t know how your experience will go because everyone’s body is different but I just wanted to write how mine went. I did a lot of research on this topic here and it’s actually helped me a lot. I was at 6 weeks 2 days and was so so sick that I was genuinely unable to do anything. I couldn’t eat I couldn’t do things I was used to doing and I felt so exhausted and was just really struggling with being pregnant. So I went and got the abortion pill from my planned parenthood the first pill I felt fine just a little bit of cramps then 24/48 hours later I took the 4 pills and I’d say an hour later I went into tremors my body was kinda freaking out for about 45 min and then I’d say 30 mins went by and all the clots came out all at once I was having some painful cramps but nothing unbearable with the support of my boyfriend, after the big clots came out I’d say an hour after that everything died down. I’m still bleeding on the secound day but genuinely not that bad I’m having a few cramps but lightly and I already feel like myself the day after. I haven’t felt like myself for over a month and I’m shocked that I was even able to eat because I truly haven’t been able too! So if you’re thinking about getting one don’t get scared of what you read online. Everyone is different 🫶🏻

UK and Ireland Unsure if doing the right thing

Upvotes

I’m a 31 year old woman in a 16 year relationship and I already have two children and have found myself pregnant again, stupidly.

My two children are both profoundly autistic with extremely limited understanding and at 7 and 4 years old still need complete around the clock care. Neither sleep well, both need an adult to meet any and all care needs (teeth brushing, showering, getting dressed, eating, accessing areas of the house, any and everything that you would need to do for a toddler I’m still doing 7 years down the line. Including nappies). My eldest is prone to extreme aggression during and outside of meltdowns, she sensory seeks through nipping, biting and headbutting and unfortunately the whole household does suffer due to this. My partner and I are covered in cuts and bruises and my youngest sometimes becomes a target also.

Deep down I want this baby, but I’m also not completely stupid and I’m aware I wouldn’t be able to keep a newborn safe in my current environment, my partner works 12 hour shifts, both days and nights so I’m often home alone with the kids. Due to them both needing pushchairs still I can’t get out of the house with the two kids I have, never mind if I was to have a third. Life would get massively harder for everyone in the house and I’m not sure my daughter would even cope with another baby in the house, it really rocked her world when her brother was born.

We don’t have the space or funds for another child. We have no support from family at all as it is. I know having another child isn’t an option but I can’t stop myself from sobbing everytime I think about taking the next set of tablets (I’ve already taken the first one, I can’t remember the name).

I know I’m doing the right thing for everyone else but it feels so wrong

USA 1 day post MA and I am devastated. *TW* NY

Upvotes

I apologize in advance if I am triggering anyone, I just don’t know where to turn.

I’m 26 and in a relationship with my boyfriend of 5 months. I am deeply in love with him and i believe he feels the same way. I was supposed to start birth control with my next period, but it never came. I was stupidly under the impression that I’d have trouble conceiving in the future, because my period was always irregular. So I figured the pull out method would hold us over until I could start birth control.

I was wrong, and on Friday, I took a test that came back positive. I went to Planned Parenthood the following day, they did an ultrasound and the tech took my blood because she couldn’t see everything but somehow knew I was 5 weeks and 2 days? I’m a bit confused about that but that’s neither here nor there. Anyway, I took the first pill there. The second I took on Saturday, and stayed at my boyfriend’s house. He cooked for me and brought me ice cream. I couldn’t walk much but overall didn’t have much bleeding and it just felt like a heavy period (I get pretty painful periods and Ive had worse) Of course there is still blood and I’m sure there will be for the next few weeks but every time I see it I just break down. And I break down even when I don’t. I have to go back tomorrow to take blood to make sure it worked and that my pregnancy wasn’t ectopic. I have to go back to school after. I have no friends at school because I was so delirious and isolated myself my first two weeks of law school from being pregnant without realizing and im incredibly lonely. My boyfriend lives about 45 min from me.i have to go to all these networking events alone and act like a functioning human being and im terrified

I didn’t give myself time to think about it because I didn’t want to delay the abortion. But I am filled with regret. My boyfriend has been lovely throughout the whole process but he is heartbroken too. I feel terrible because he wanted to keep it. I wanted to too. But I just started law school and I panicked. He is religious and also a very sensitive person. So this is very hard for him. He was happy when I told him I was pregnant but all I could think about was how scared I was.

We planned to get married and have a baby within the next 4 years. Maybe after i take the bar. But i dont know how i will ever be able to sit at the baby showers, wedding, etc. without this grief i carry. I cant help but think about what could have been.

I dont know how to feel. I am Catholic but I have always been pro choice to a certain extent. I mention this because if anyone is in the same position i am in a similar background i would love for you to reach out. I’m not ready to go to the church yet. But I don’t know if it’s really just the religion that’s causing my shame - I just wanted to be a mom and due to just starting law school and not being married or having a house, I felt like I couldn’t do it. And I can’t help but feel I took the choice away from my boyfriend. He carries so much with him and he is heartbroken but at the same time has been so supportive. But he is hurting. And I just can’t help but feel guilty and regretful, considering all I want is to be a mother. I just didn’t want my child to grow up in instability. I feel icky about having a kid (if I am able to) in a few years from now knowing what I did. And I hope he doesn’t feel the same. I tell him that this is my burden, not his, but he insists that it’s ours.

I’m not sure how I will be able to focus on my studies and I don’t know what the point was of doing it if I don’t do well in school now. Im falling behind and I am stuck in a loop. I have no motivation but if I don’t do well I will feel terribly guilty. I can’t stop thinking about my baby. If anyone can point me in the right direction or provide some advice please let me know.

We always talked about (and still do) starting a family. I want so badly to be a mom and I have been feeling very “instinctually” maternal for the past few months. In that sense, I was ready to have a baby. I can’t look at kids without crying.

USA Not sure how to cope

Upvotes

I’m 18 and i just found out i was pregnant about 2 days ago after taking a pregnancy test in a retail bathroom. I was so in shock and couldn’t believe it. I knew my period was late but I assumed it was stress or from my new job. Since then, my symptoms have been absolutely super minor since i’m estimating the fetus is 4-6 weeks in development. I’ve been noticing minor symptoms but nothing outrageous.

I’ve came to the decision i cannot go through with this because of my life right now, money, mental health, and i can’t provide the child what it needs. I feel guilty, broken, destroyed.

I am going to have a medical abortion with the prescribed mifepristone and the other pill.

I feel extremely guilty and like i’m about to lose a piece of myself, as the pills are due to arrive soon. I’m very nervous and feel like it’s not my right to end this fetus’s life.

I’m making a memorial keepsake box to cope with this and trying to understand how to move forward. Any advice helps. 💔😔

Asia Question abouy TVS result: interpretation and confirmation

Upvotes

I got my TVS result recently and there were no mentions of pregnancy, gestational sac, fetus, or anything related. Just mentions of normal retroverted uterus, thickened endometrium, and polycystic ovaries.

For the record, my LMP was July 10 and I had 2 negative PTs a few days ago. I'm not sure how to interpret the results.

Are there still chances of pregnancy? Should I follow up with an OB-GYN?

UK and Ireland Being messed about by bpas and NHS.

Upvotes

(ENGLAND)

I found out I was pregnant two weeks ago, I’m now 6 weeks.

I got the ball rolling immediately, got it checked for whether it’s ectopic or not since I have a Copper IUD in, got my scans at BPAS, appointments lined up.

I was told to get my copper IUD removed by BPAS before they can proceed with the termination, they told me to just go where I got it fitted. Okay sure. Next day I have an appointment, tell the lady I’m pregnant and she says she cannot take it out incase it causes a dangerous miscarriage and I need it taking out whilst having an ultrasound.

Get a bit deflated but the ladies are nice enough and try to point me in the right direction. I then get a phone call from BPAS ‘We can’t assist you with your abortion because you had a seizure a few weeks ago, we are handing over care to the NHS’.

I’m epileptic, ive had an abortion before via abortion pill. There is no risk of it being damaging to me whatsoever and there is lots of research about pregnancy and abortion with epilepsy. It’s not some unheard of, under researched dangerous mystery. So it’s just an insurance thing they’d rather not deal with as a smaller organisation, but I understand.

They hand me over to the NHS, get the email done same day. 3 days, nothing. It’s ridiculous.

I am tired of the narrative of ‘be glad for the NHS’. I’ve had so many bad experiences with them, and it’s ranked one of the worst healthcare system in the west.

I went in for an ectopic pregnancy scare (this was when I was 4 weeks, I then shortly after went to BPAS) and my stomach was just poked about and confirmed ‘it’s not ectopic’, no aftercare, ultrasound, advice or safety procedures followed compared to BPAS and my partner being in the room. Went to BPAS and they said it’s ridiculous the NHS tried to confirm its non ectopic with a bit of prodding especially given that I’ve experienced some ectopic symptoms and they ruled it out properly with an ultrasound.

I’m so incredibly emotionally stressed right now, I’m at my absolute limit. Uni starts soon, I’ve just moved out of an abusive household and more things, the emotional stress has exhausted me physically too. I constantly feel half dead, fatigued, tired, sick.

Every single day this is delayed I get worse. I’m a vulnerable person with a long history of mental health and childhood abuse issues, I also don’t deal well with abortion and I find I end up grieving and feeling bad for my decision (but overall never regretting it). As each day passes this fetus develops more, and I cannot deal with passing it in the toilet whatsoever.

I’m so stressed it’s insane. It’s currently 5am in the UK, when phone lines open I’ll call the NHS and try and push this further along quicker because I’ve had no correspondence since handover.

I understand it’s only been 3 days and I’m only 6 weeks but I can’t help but feel stressed and go off my previous bad experiences with the NHS. Including the one they tried to rule out an ectopic pregnancy with symptoms without an ultrasound.

I know realistically I have time but it’s not stopping me from worrying anyway.

Sorry for the vent.

Europe How I got my abortion, and why I’m struggling so much with it now

Upvotes

I’m 30 years old and I had an abortion almost two months ago, when I was 8 weeks pregnant. I took the abortion pills. The reason I decided to have an abortion is complicated. I’m engaged, and the baby wasn’t my fiancé’s. I’ve been with my boyfriend for 10 years, and we got engaged last September. At the same time, I had been having an affair with another man on and off for about a year. When I first found out I was pregnant, I wanted an abortion. But as the weeks went by, I started changing my mind. I told the other guy, and he was actually very happy. He even told his mother. For the first time, I started thinking that maybe I could have this baby and that maybe this was the life I was supposed to have. When I told my mom and my sister, they were furious. They started telling me that my life would be ruined, what people and friends would say, and all the terrible things that would happen if I had the baby. I was already confused and scared, and I was close to changing my mind again. I called my mom and told her I wasn’t sure I wanted to take the pills anymore. She started yelling at me and told me to take them. My sister came to my house to make sure that I took them. And I did. I cried so much afterwards. And I still cry. I miss the baby more than I ever thought I could. I know that, ultimately, it was my decision, and I’m not trying to put all the blame on my mom or my sister. But I can’t stop thinking about how different things might have been if, at that moment, someone had just supported me instead of telling me what I should do. It’s been almost two months and I’m still extremely sad. I feel depressed, angry at myself, angry at everyone, and I keep going over the decision in my head. And then yesterday, my sister told me she’s pregnant. I told her that I’m not going to be there for her right now because I just can’t handle it. Today I spent the entire day crying. I’m not writing this to blame anyone. I know I made the decision too. I just don’t know what to do with all these feelings anymore. I guess I’m looking for people who have been through something similar. Does this ever get easier? How did you deal with the regret, the grief, and the anger afterwards?

I really don’t know what to do anymore.

USA Pills coming in tomorrow and I need advice

Upvotes

Hi! I am 23, and found out I am pregnant 6 days ago. My last period was July 20th, so I’m around 6 weeks. I have ordered the pills from Aid access, and I have never been pregnant before, so I am quite nervous. I have really severe period cramps most cycles, so the pain is the scariest part for me. I also have no idea how you can know the pills worked. I want to know if I need to plan a trip asap. From your experience, how did you know it worked?

USA general anesthesia SA at 6w3d after being unable to get one at 5w0d

Upvotes

I posted on here a week ago about how nervous I was to get a surgical abortion with twilight sedation at planned parenthood. I actually woke up that morning feeling nervous but a lot of resolve. I showed up and did all the paperwork, completed the pregnancy test, and was taken to a room where they performed the ultrasound but to my disappointment they weren’t able to locate anything :( I initially found out I was pregnant around 4w2d and called to set up an appointment asap but they told me 5 weeks is the earliest they could do it and even then there’s a risk of the embryo being too small to locate. I was given the choice to proceed with the procedure but I’d have to come back in 2 days to get blood drawn to see if my hcg levels dropped. As much as I wanted the procedure that day I just want to be done with everything at once and not have to drag myself back to the clinic in 2 days to see whether or not the procedure was successful when I’ll probably already be dealing with a lot.
So I was told to come back at 6w3d to be safe and I was referred to a different clinic that does general anesthesia instead of twilight sedation which I’m super thankful for because I have really bad anxiety in medical environments and I knew that even with conscious sedation I’d still be aware which I wasn’t a huge fan of. I’m a little nervous because I’ve never been under general anesthesia before so I’m not sure what to expect in terms of the recovery process but I expect to be down for the rest of the day and likely the day after for my mental health.
I’m also feeling more guilt lately (which truthfully I wanted to get the abortion asap to avoid getting attached to something I know I can’t have right now) and all the what ifs are really daunting. I don’t know how I’ll be able to find closure if they’re able to hear a heartbeat during the ultrasound and actually being able to see something this time.
Regardless of the journey not being linear I’m really grateful that I have access to abortion and the choice of being fully sedated for the process :’)

USA Realistically payment for an abortion

Upvotes

Hi I’m 18 and I need to know how much would a abortion realistically cost I don’t have insurance and I am a full time student with a part time job so my paychecks are about 200 or 300 if I’m lucky and worked enough hours . I want to know how much someone has payed I obviously don’t want to tell my parents because it’s hard and they don’t understand . I just want to know how much would it cost or if anyone has any idea what to do .

USA I need help understanding how to feel.

Upvotes

I 19 year old female found out that I was pregnant and I am 6 weeks pregnant and I medically cannot have a pregnancy right now I have some health issues that I am working through. But my husband 18 year old male has been very supportive of me and my situation and he has no hard feelings about it. Where I need help is my sister 22 year old female found out with me on the phone that she was pregnant I have decided that I’m not telling anyone that I am pregnant because I have a very anti abortion family. And she keeps saying that she hopes she has a miscarriage so she doesn’t have to have the baby but I’m having to make a hard choice to put my health first and she is taking the fact that she can have the baby with little to no complications and I’m only 6 weeks pregnant and have been to the hospital twice bc my body can’t handle the baby. Am I wrong for being mad at my sister for saying that? But to be honest I feel selfish about her wanting to have the baby bc we would have babies at the same time but unfortunately I can’t keep mine. Am I in the wrong for how I feel?

UK and Ireland I know abortion is the right decision, but I’m still heartbroken

Upvotes

I just want to share how I'm feeling with people who hopefully understand, because I feel so utterly alone in all of this and I'm sorry if this is the wrong place.

I'm in my 30s, currently around 6 weeks pregnant for the first time, and I'm due to have an abortion on Thursday. I've never been pregnant before and, honestly, I thought I had fertility issues because I have endometriosis.

I feel so incredibly guilty, depressed, alone and overwhelmed. I wish so badly that I could keep this baby, but I know I can't. I'd have to do it completely alone and financially I'd be utterly screwed. I don't have the money to move somewhere bigger, where I currently live is too small, and I have debt that I need to clear before I can even think about anything permanent.

My family would very likely disown me. I don't have many friends anymore either, and I just don't have the support system I'd need. I won't have support from the father as he really doesn't want this. Honestly, as much as that has affected me, it hasn't been the biggest driver of my decision, my own selfish reasons are my biggest drivers.

My career is finally starting to get somewhere, but I'm starting a new job soon and I won't qualify for full maternity benefits. I know that if I continued the pregnancy, I'd be putting myself into a situation where I'd struggle a lot financially, socially, mentally and potentially end up resenting the baby because my life would go so far off track and I would never want to blame or regret a child.

As awful as it feels to say that, I genuinely believe that having the abortion is the best decision for me. But knowing that doesn't make it feel any less heartbreaking.

The relationship is casual, and he already has a child that he didn't really want. With me, he's been very vocal about not wanting another child, so I know continuing the pregnancy isn't something I could realistically expect him to support. That's why so much of my decision-making has been about whether I could realistically do this completely solo.

I have so much anxiety around all of this. I'm stressed, completely overwhelmed, feeling so very guilty and emotionally exhausted. I know an abortion isn't necessarily a "one and done" situation emotionally, and I'm really scared about how I'm going to feel afterwards and whether my mental health is going to get even worse and the actual process and potential side effects.

I don't really cry much, but I'm so tired and prone to tears right now. I just feel so down, while around my family and at work I have to pretend everything is fine. I'm just so damn tired of everything and don't know how to feel. I'm constantly getting palpitations and period pain like pain, and I can only attribute it to stress and anxiety. This whole situation has left me so fed up and I'm not even sure what's a symptom of pregnancy or what's just me anymore.

He will be coming to the appointment with me, but he hasn't really been there for me at all. I know he has had other things going on with his kid that have been planned for weeks, and I know this is a casual relationship, but it's still crap. I thought we were at least friends, but clearly not.And honestly, I kind of hate him right now. Part of me wants him to know what this is like and wants him to be there to see it's not just a tablet and back to normal situation. Yet another part of me never wants to see or speak to him again. And then there's another part of me that just wants a hug and for someone to tell me that it's going to be okay.

I don't really know what I'm looking for by posting this. I think I just need to say it somewhere where people might actually understand.

I love this baby.

I also know I can't give it the life I would want to give it right now and that's eating me up.

And somehow I have to hold both of those things at the same time, while no one around me seems to understand.

And I'm just really, really sad.

Europe My medical abortion story at 4-5 weeks (31F, Ukraine)

Upvotes

I want to share this because in the days before my procedure, I read a lot of other people's stories to get ready. They helped me a lot. Maybe this will help someone else too.

A bit about me: I'm 31, married. My husband is Ukrainian and he's currently serving in the military. I live in Ukraine but I'm not a citizen. I also travel back and forth to my home country sometimes. My husband and I only decided in early August that we want kids someday, but right now isn't the time. We don't have a permanent home, we don't have stable income, and I keep traveling back and forth. I'd also been treated for gynecological problems for a long time and had unprotected sex with my husband for a long while without ever getting pregnant, so I kind of stopped expecting it to happen.

Finding out: I found out on August 25th, 7 days after my missed period. The test was positive, and I went for an ultrasound that same day. It showed a gestational sac of 4.9mm, about 2-2.5 weeks after conception. My first reaction was almost disbelief — "wow, it actually happened" — followed right away by fear and disappointment.

The wait: That first scan also showed a fairly large hematoma near the sac. So I decided to wait and get another ultrasound in 10 days to see what would happen.

Honestly, I'll admit something I'm not proud of: part of me hoped the next scan would show something wrong, some problem, because that would make the decision easier — nature deciding instead of me. But on September 3rd, the scan was "perfect." Sac 12-13mm, a tiny 3mm embryo, and a heartbeat had already started. I broke down crying right there on the exam table. It felt like relief and grief at the same time — relief that it was real, and grief because I already knew I wasn't going to keep it.

Making the decision: On top of the housing and money problems, there was another big reason: the war, and the fear of not knowing what tomorrow even looks like. My husband is serving right now. It's already hard carrying that uncertainty for the two of us. I couldn't picture bringing a child into a future I can't see or plan for at all right now.

I told my doctor I wanted a medical abortion. She tried to talk me out of it. That made the decision feel even heavier, like I had to defend it to someone else instead of just settling it in my own head.

Day 1 - September 5th: I took the first pill, mifepristone, around noon.

The next day: I spent it getting ready — crying on and off, buying pads, light food, mineral water. I read a lot of other people's stories, trying to prepare myself for the worst.

September 7th - the misoprostol day:

12:00 PM — got 800mg of misoprostol from my doctor (here in Ukraine the protocol is 200mg mifepristone + 800mg misoprostol), drove home to take it.

1:20 PM — started dissolving the first 400mg under my tongue (took about 40 minutes), then swallowed the rest with water.

2:20 PM — cramps started, bearable, about like a normal period.

I lay down until around 3:00 PM, then felt something coming out and the urge to pee, so I went to the bathroom to check.

The second I sat down, I felt a gush — a small pool of blood with the sac in it. I gently rinsed it off to look at it. Without the blood, it was yellowish and cloudy inside — still too early to see an embryo or anything like that. I texted my doctor a photo and she confirmed that's what it was. That confirmation was a huge relief. The not-knowing had been worse than the moment itself.

I felt noticeably better right after it came out.

3:20 PM — dissolved the second 400mg dose of misoprostol (I asked my doctor if I still needed it since the sac had already passed, and she said yes).

The cramps kept going but stayed manageable.

I stupidly thought I'd forgotten to take painkillers, so I mixed myself 100mg of nimesulide (a powder I usually use for bad period cramps). It tastes bitter and sour, and I think it's what caused the nausea. I threw up about 3 times, and then realized the pain had shifted from my uterus to my gut, followed by diarrhea.

I rested for about an hour. By 5:30 PM I felt basically normal again, made myself scrambled eggs and ate.

About 1.5 hours after eating: mild cramping, bleeding like a heavy period, but no more nausea or diarrhea. The food gave me some strength back.

Where I'm at now: I braced myself for something much harder, and it turned out to be way more manageable than I feared. I don't know yet if I should feel relieved or sad about that, maybe both. I have a follow-up ultrasound in 14 days, and for now I'm just resting and letting my body recover.

What scares me most right now is what comes after. Today I was so caught up in the physical side of things — the pain, the bleeding, the logistics — that I haven't really sat with how I feel mentally yet. I'm scared of what might hit me once the physical part is over: grief, anger, maybe even hating myself. Right now I'm just bracing for that, without knowing when or how hard it's going to land.

Asia Didn’t think I would be here again—just want to get it over with.

I’m 4 weeks 2 days pregnant (confirmed with at home test; period is usually every 28 days like clockwork). After trying to be so careful after my last medical abortion 3 years ago can’t believe I’m back here. Really tired and exhausted and depressed. Don’t want to go through the rigmarole of waiting till 5 weeks and ruling out the rare chance of an ectopic pregnancy by having a judgemental sonographer insert a probe up my vagina, then paying a private doctor lots of money to just give me mifepristone to swallow, then returning 24 hours later so she takes more money and gives me misoprostol pills to swallow. Thinking of just buying the pills off the market and taking my chances. Since this is very early, will I be okay?

Canada Had to take the pill twice

Upvotes

So I took the initial suite of pills a week and two days ago. I had had horrible hg and was 7-8 weeks into my pregnancy. I do not regret the decision and am not in a financial or physical space that would be safe for a child. After taking the pills I went an entire week completely fine, no after effects. The only issue was my anxiety surrounding the fact that due to my hg I had thrown up around a half hour after taking the second set of pills buccally.

A week after this, I began bleeding a lot heavier around noon, but had an appointment unrelated an hour away. I passed several blood clots larger than I was used to but as the Google advice was, they were not larger than a golf ball or for whatever reason a lemon, so I kept going. My bleeding stayed heavy and I bled through the only pad I had (which was overnight maxi) in less than an hour but I was stuck on a train. I then began to feel blood trickle down my leg and eventually I guess lost so much that I fainted twice. My partner took me to the emergency department and they administered another dose vaginally.

That was three days ago. Everything seemed fine, but I have noticed an uptick in my bleeding again today.

Has anyone been through this? I feel so afraid and I hate any medical processing but I would like to live through this ideally. Sorry for the ramble :(

Australia and New Zealand My Girlfriend is pregnant and Im feeling lost

Upvotes

My Girlfriend (23f) of about 4 months told me (21m) last night she is pregnant. (About 5 weeks we think)

This post is mainly to let it out because I havent spoken to anyone about it really but also advice would be great.

My girlfriend is on the pill but I wont lie, hasnt been very consistent so I guess we shouldve seen this coming but when she told me yesterday on the phone I was so shocked.

I feel completely horrible, terrified and guilty. I feel guilty because I feel like life will never be the same for her and its my fault. This is an experience that I feel like she will never forget and I just cant get over how that makes me feel, its also because she is going through so much and Ive just added to her burden x1000. Not to mention the physical pain. She works full time and really cant afford to be viewed unfavourably at work but now she's gonna have to take a few days off for the abortion so thats another factor.

The main thing is the fear though. Im completely scared that something will go wrong when she takes the pills and I wont be equipped to help her. I cant drive so my only option if something does go wrong, is to uber to hospital and that doesn't fill me with much confidence at all.

Im trying my very absolute best to be supportive and give my advice whenever she wants it and when she does take the pills Ill be there 24/7 with whatever she needs but just the fact that its happening in the first place is weighing on me.

I feel so unprepared and drained and all I can keep thinking is "I cant believe this is happening" like its some bad dream. Its a little dramatic but it feels a little like the end of the world, even if it isnt. Its funny though, she keeps saying "why are you the one freaking out its happening to me lol" and I dont have an answer. My natural state is anxiety I swear lol

Tldr I feel horrible because my girlfriend is pregnant and has to deal with this, all while I sit around feeling shit.

Europe What did you wish you knew before getting a MA?

Upvotes

Hey! Getting an abortion this Wednesday and kinda nervous.

I want to ask for any tips and tricks you have for making the whole process as comfortable/easy as possible.
Give me medications, hacks, comfort items, things to eat/drink, what to have ready beforehand, how to deal with the cramps/nausea, literally anything you wish you had known before doing it.
Also, if you’ve had a medical abortion around 6–8 weeks, I’d especially love to hear about your experience and what helped you get through the worst part.
I’m trying to prepare myself as much as possible, so please dump all your best advice on me!
Wish me luck.

USA Need advice - post abortion sex

Upvotes

i just had an MA on August 25&26 and it was the worst thing. Well sure enough, my boyfriend and I were both feeling frisky especially not being able to have sex for a few and we had sex on September 5, unprotected. He did not cum inside but I’m pretty sure some of it dropped on my vagina. We cleaned it up immediately. I know I’m an idiot and feel very regretful, what are my chances of getting pregnant again? I don’t want to get another abortion.
