Imagine being mad that people can afford medicine without going bankrupt. Capitalism really needs to chill.

I think the point is that the US pays for all the research into life saving medications and/or treatments and so the cost of said research is passed on to US consumers but other countries like Germany aren't subject to the US patent system and can just make and sell whatever drugs they want using the research bought and payed for by US consumers as assurance that said drugs are safe.

So pharmaceutical companies have no leverage to get consumers in countries like Germany to pay their share for said research.

So, the US is trying to incentivize their "allies" to pay their share for this.

You really don’t understand anything about patents or the pharmaceutical industry at all do you. Whilst not subject to US patents the patent holders will also have filed German European and PCT (world) patents to protect their IP outside the US. And in addition the us is by no means the only country that does pharmaceutical research. Please learn about GSK, AstraZeneca, Sanofi, Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim, Merck, Novo Nordisk…
