If I remember correctly the speech, It was more in context of "accepting" or "understanding", not about "forgiving" actually. He stated something like the following: "I'm not against and may understand why lesbians are lesbian, but don't understand why gays are gay. It was in the context of his views that Belorussian women work hard at being beautiful and keeping their men happy, while Belorussian men often take that as an excuse to be fat slobs.
