Calling that shameless traitor to his own people a “man” is generous but yes

u/BrianG1410 4d ago

Impeached is far too kind.

u/TomeThugNHarmony4664 4d ago

And he should have never been confirmed in the first place. To Sen John Danforth’s perpetual shame— that and his promotion of Josh Hawley.

u/Odd-Neighborhood4214 4d ago

Can we impeach Josh Hawley too! Please!! Pretty please

u/xteve 4d ago

He raised a fist in support of the traitors of January 6, 2021 - and fled the Capitol as they stormed it.

u/Yashema 4d ago

We need to stop blaming the problems of the US on individuals, not Thomas, or the SC or any Senator, or even Trump.

There have been a dozen elections to change course, and voters have always consistently chosen for politicians who clearly have malicious intent either to punish the Democratic Party for perceived failures (such as recently on inflation) or because Republicans promise to address their 1 or 2 main issues.

It's voters who are destroying our country, the politicians we get from the Right are the result of how they vote.

u/Lucasinoz 4d ago

Yes! and now we’re stuck with these miserable sons of bitches of the Republican Party and their incredibly stupid and dangerous ‘inbred’ voter citizens who are brain insufficient and who are literally the ‘pollution’ that is rotting the country into the world’s toilet

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

Which party wants EVERYONE to vote?

u/Ok_Dust_7325 4d ago

Not republicans

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

Im absolutely positive that theres lots of ill-informed voters to go around.

u/ElectricalFish5044 4d ago

Republicans want as low a voter turnout as possible

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

Do you think republicans dont want landslide victories?

u/my_taint_aint 4d ago

I do think anyone is saying all the problems are at the feet of one person, but this is a cause of the corruption and problems.

u/Yashema 4d ago

The amount of hate Thomas gets when Alito is every bit as awful having never voted against the Conservative majority in a critical case, but he keeps his nose cleans, suggest that isn't true.

We have no idea if our government can actually take on corruption because the American people have literally never over the past 30 years empowered the government to take on corruption.

u/my_taint_aint 4d ago

Funny you say that. They are the two that I think need to be impeached.

u/Yashema 4d ago

The American people have handed control of the SC to Republicans each of the three times they could in 24 years. Impeachmen does nothing when Americans don't really see protecting Democracy as an important issue.

u/Narrow-Currency-6302 4d ago

Oh so what is the solution? Run on better policies? Maybe.

u/Yashema 4d ago

They run on protecting Democracy, they have run on campaign reform in every election since Obama, under Biden they passed $840 billion addressing rising Medicare costs and emission reduction incentives (50% projected reduction), most Democratic states already have $15+ minimum wage, abortion protections, legal marijuana, environmental polocy. The Democrats federally funded hundreds of thousand blue collar jobs by adding $575 billion to the infrastructure bill, they appoint reasonable people to head departments.

What policy arent they running on?

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

The politicians we get from the left are the result of how they vote. I understand that voters vote for the best liar, but what is your point?

u/Yashema 4d ago

What policy have Democrats lied on?

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

Im sorry youre right Democrat politicians dont lie. Good luck out there.

u/Yashema 4d ago

It's funny how you don't want to discuss a specific policy they lied about.

Enjoy being "above it".

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

Ok heres a famous one. "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor, period. If you like your healthcare plan, you'll be able to keep your healthcare plan, period". I hate to "whatabout" or "both sides", but what about both sides? To be a politician is to be untrustworthy because they cant make everybody happy but they have to convince everybody that they will. That is the truth. And, thats why elections are about picking the lesser of two evils, that which most aligns with your personal views. To not see this is to be blind or willfully ignorant. Im sure youre not ignorant but perhaps disingenuous. "What policy have democrats lied on?". Seriously?

u/Yashema 4d ago

That's a great point. Now let me ask you this: Did Obama pass the Affordable Care Act which was adopted by 38 states insuring millions with further funding provided by the Democrats under Biden increasing enrollment to a record 25 million in 2025 until Trump and the Republicans repealed it?

So Obama told a lie about healthcare, but he still managed to get major policy passed insuring millions. If that's the best lie you got and you are comparing that to Republicans you are just mental.

Blame the stupid election system that gives so much power to rural hicks over the millions of progressive metropolitan voters. I know he won the popular vote the second time, but he would not have won if he didn't win the first time.

u/Yashema 4d ago

Or how about blame the blue collar voters who switched from Obama to Biden, and to a lesser extent, Black voters who stayed home because they weren't "enthusiastic" enough about Clinton, giving Trump the Midwest in 2016? Or Nader voters in Florida giving Bush enough room to steal the Presidency in 2000?

u/ActivePeace33 4d ago

The Democrats have played along too. Look how many of the leadership have supported Trump and how many of the average democrats excuse Trump’s unlawful ascension to power. The Dems love the status quo more than the constitution or the people.

Trump and MAGA are to blame for starting the insurrection, the democratic leadership are to blame for intentionally aiding the insurrectionists after the fact.

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

What was it that was unlawful about Trumps ascension to power?

u/ActivePeace33 4d ago

The 14th amendment says that he is disqualified from holding office. Ever since his insurrection turned violent on J6, he’s been disqualified:

“No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.”

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

During The Biden administration, which was obviously the best time to do it, Trump was never even accused of insurrection.

u/ActivePeace33 4d ago

He was accused plenty, by plenty of executive officials and was even found to have engaged in insurrection by two courts and the SOS of Maine.

But anyway… no accusations are necessary beyond what Biden could do through executive due process.

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

I dont think any 3 letter agency accused him though. Why not? And i sincerely dont understand what you mean in your last sentence.

→ More replies (0)

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

If his "insurrection" had not turned violent would he be qualified?

u/ActivePeace33 4d ago

Yes.

It became an unlawful insurrection when it turned violent. He met the qualifications for office until J6.

But then, I can read the law objectively and let the Framers rule the issue through what they wrote and what legislative intent they gave us in the Congressional Record. I’m not grinding an ax, I’m going off objective facts of history and the law as written.

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

Not to be cute, but can an insurrection be non violent?

u/Yashema 4d ago

Republicans control the Presidency, Congress and the Supreme Court. They have Democratic authority to make any budgetary policy they want, so yes Democrats have to work with them. Many Democrats need "independent" voters to get elected.

While Unde Biden with a narrow majority in Congress, Democrats passed $3.1 trillion in social legislation. Calling that the status quo is pure propaganda. Also at the state level every Democratic state has insisted a ton of Liberal priorities from raising the minimum wage, to criminal justice reform, to environmental policy.

u/ActivePeace33 4d ago

Yes.

And how did the MAGA traitors get to their current positions?

Biden doing fuck all to suppress them and see them all removed from office per the 14a and held for the duration of the insurrection. He had a job to do to enforce the law and failed.

MAGA is the one responsible for breaking the law, Biden is the one for failing to enforce the law.

u/Yashema 4d ago

Who elected Trump in the first place? Who elected Republicans to Congress who called the insurrection fake with many politicians refusing to acknowledge Biden won the election for over a month after the result was called? Who elected Trump again despite knowing what he did?

You know Trump could run for President from jail right? Or appoint a "successor" who could pardon him on day 1.

Stop trying to blame Democrats for what the American people freely do.

u/ActivePeace33 4d ago

No one lawfully elected Trump again. He was disqualified by the 14a, for life, on J6. No, Trump can’t run for “ any Office, civil or military, under the United States, or any state,” because the 14th amendment says he can’t. Your feelings don’t matter, your opinion doesn’t matter, the plane text of the constitution is clear. The framers of the amendment were clear in their comments during the debate before passage of the 14th amendment. No executive official, including a president, can engage in insurrection and remain qualified for Office.

Now, what has any of the election stuff got to do with the basic facts? Trump publicly incited the insurrection. The insurrection began with a violent attack on the congress. The insurrection continues to this day and Biden did basically nothing about it for 4 years.

u/Yashema 4d ago

And the governing body that had clear authority to prosecute a President for actions taken in Office is Congress. Nixon and Clinton were both investigated and impeached by Congress.

No Republicans were willing to do that, and certainly not enough to convict. And Republicans controlled the SC who literally ruled in Trump v Anderson that:

The Supreme Court clarified that only Congress has the constitutional authority to enforce Section 3 against federal officeholders, typically by passing specific enabling legislation. Without a clear enforcement mechanism passed by Congress, a president cannot be automatically disqualified from office by outside lawsuits or state election officials.

So no you are wrong. Even if the DoJ convicted it would have done nothing

The American people saw Trump's actions and voted for him anyway. They are 100% responsible.

u/StrangeContest4 4d ago

Trump was indicted on over 90 charges in multiple states and in DC. The corrupt courts failed us, especially the Supreme Court. Even Nevada tried to keep Trump off the ballot for the 14th, but the court overturned it. He was never charged or tried for "insurrection." Hell, he never saw a single trial for the sedition or insurrection that he was the leader of.

Do I wish Biden had used his newly established Supreme Court's decree of Unlimited Unitary Executive Power, which would've given him immunity for all crimes committed as president? Yes I do. Did he make a mistake in hiring Merrick the Meek for AG? Definitely so, but charges were filed in multiple jurisdictions and the evidence was clear as day. He should have faced trial, but the courts failed us, and then the voters failed us again.

u/TrickyMission 4d ago

Careful- your fascism is showing

u/ActivePeace33 4d ago

Enforcing the law on insurrectionist fascists isn’t fascism.

Do you also oppose how the law was enforced on the confederate insurrectionists?

u/MyTnotE 4d ago

Wasn’t Biden the chair?

u/Lucasinoz 4d ago

🖕🏾

u/KinkyLatexCat 4d ago

The bribes he was found to have taken by simply 'walking around the law' should at least carry criminal charges.

In a sane society, of course.

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

Loopholes are there for people to take addvantage of. A good example is taxes. Who is going to volunteer to pay as much in taxes as possible? Nobody that I know. That why people pay accountants to find ways to reduce their tax liability. If you just want to give money away give to the poor.

u/AlternativeFilm6518 4d ago

I very much appreciate this comment. Thank you

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

What did he do?

u/Parking_Alive 4d ago

impeached for what?

u/DaggerInMySmile 4d ago

The book The Enigma of Clarence Thomas as a fascinating read and explanation about why he is the way he is and the ideology that guides him.

I still hate his guts but I had misunderstood who he is and why.

u/Petrochromis722 4d ago

Spoiler alert: Its greed.

u/DaggerInMySmile 4d ago

Sure, but the nuance is what (I think) makes it interesting. If the book is correct, he believes America, and white people, are incurably racist, and that informs all of his decisions.

This sounds odd, coming from a black SCOTUS justice, but he believes the American political system (and most other powerful institutions) exclude black people by design, and prevent them from building real political power.

But he posits that economic power, in the form of wealth, is something that black people can obtain and use to protect themselves from the incurable, all-pervading American racism that he despises the absolute shit out of.

And that also sounds weird, given who his friends are, but he says he prefers conservatives because at least they're honest about who they are. He found liberals sanctimonious, condescending, and just as bigoted as anyone else, no matter how much they might insist otherwise, all while insisting you recognize and praise their moral superiority.

I am not trying to justify Justice Thomas's beliefs or actions, I wish he'd done nearly anything else with his life. He sucks, but he's a more complex and fascinating swine-humper than I'd first thought.

u/WorthPlease 4d ago

This is 100% him talking out of his ass trying to find any way he can think of to make himself sound sympathetic.

u/DaggerInMySmile 4d ago

I understand why one would think so.

u/-Pin_Cushion- 4d ago

He was a unicorn. If he'd had different beliefs Republicans would never have nominated him, and if he'd been white Democrats would never have put him on the bench.

His ideology is incoherent, but it's politically useful so it's never challenged. He's the most freakishly interesting person I wish had never existed.

u/kerouac666 4d ago

Some of his biographies get into that and Thomas planned it that way. He knew that he’d stand out as a black conservative and that would grant him opportunities that he wouldn’t get as a centrist or leaning left. The main thing I’ve gathered is that he seems to genuinely hate the United States and almost everything spins off from that. And I get it as a human being; his history gives him plenty of good reasons and he seems genuinely scarred from childhood on up, but he should’ve never even come close to being a judge in any form.

u/NatureTough 4d ago

So there's this bridge I'd love to sell you. Care to hear more about it?

u/UnableJournalist5410 4d ago

I appreciate your candid, honest response. I’m not crazy about the guy but I agree with your arguments

u/DaggerInMySmile 4d ago

He's a bastard. He's not concerned with black liberation, or anyone's liberation, except his own. He's happy to help perpetuate the very same system he claims to hate, so long it's to his benefit. But I agree that he's not wholly wrong in how he views the world.

To paraphrase The Dude, "You're not wrong, Clarence,. You're just an asshole."

u/anand_rishabh 4d ago

That's the thing about black people who think they can gain wealth as a way to protect themselves from institutional racism. At best, it protects just them and maybe their immediate family. It is not a viable path for all black people to take.

u/During_theMeanwhilst 4d ago

Greed in other words. Because he actively impairs progress for black people - I mean he actually harms them - by making the decisions he makes. It’s not about the “sanctimony of liberals” or the “incurable racism but honesty of the GOP”. It’s about the fact that his decisions actively harm black people. Perverted corrupt cunt.

u/BirdLawGrad 4d ago

Sources?

u/ASeriousAccounting 4d ago

It's a bit simpler when you know about personality disorders. Then it all kinda clicks into place and leaves a permanent pit in your stomach.

u/Complete-Tangelo1532 4d ago

Uncle Thomas NO!

u/JustFun4Uss 4d ago

u/Complete-Tangelo1532 4d ago

Now that's art!

u/BTBAM797 4d ago

Fuck that's hilarious

u/hopeful7321 4d ago

I don't care if his mother made him walk to school with a suppository up his ass, he has no excuse for his behavior!!

u/DaggerInMySmile 4d ago

Agreed. And I don't think he lives up to his stated ideals. But I found it interesting learning how he views himself and justifies his vile fuckery.

u/VermicelliOwn6502 4d ago

I have not read the book but I am never letting go of the opinion that he hates the fact that he was picked for being black as a replacement for Thurgood Marshall, and that resentment was transferred to his predecessor.

u/DaggerInMySmile 4d ago

You mean Justice Marshall's resentment was transferred to Justice Thomas?

u/Ok_Dust_7325 4d ago

I think he means Thomas wants to undo everything Marshall achieved. I could be wrong, that was just my impression.

u/ReturnoftheBulls2022 4d ago

He also wants to serve 43 years to make liberals lives miserable.

u/JROXZ 4d ago

Supreme Court Justice Ruckus

u/gmeape123 4d ago

I mean I certainly don't think he is but liberals love to be vile and evil as soon as someone they thought was on their side turns out to not be on their side especially when that person is a minority then the real racism comes out and that's coming from me I'm as real racist as they get

u/Background_Edge_9427 4d ago

That's bullshit and racist! I don't like Clarence Thomas, but he is a well educated person who worked hard to get where he is at. Calling any person of color a ni---r is just wrong.

u/MoskaPOET 4d ago

Well, someone who pulls that ladder up behind himself, who tries to dismantle the very infrastructure that gave him HIS opportunity... not sure there's a better word than that, and that's applicable to any race or gender.

u/Background_Edge_9427 4d ago edited 4d ago

No offense, but Asshole would be a better fit for him! Thats applicable to any race or gender.

u/MoskaPOET 4d ago

You can add that to the tall, steaming pile of words appropriate to describe Clarence.

u/Background_Edge_9427 4d ago

See we can agree! 👍👍

u/Background_Edge_9427 4d ago

Impeached removed and jailed, along with Roberts!

u/Glass-Violinist-3549 4d ago

He should’ve taken the motorcoach deal.

u/The_Masterofbation 4d ago

Uncle Ruckus.

u/Fred-Mertz2728 4d ago

You mean Americans?

u/gmeape123 4d ago

Yup. All Americans but since he was chosen because of affirmative action, his own people in particular.

u/Mighty__Monarch 4d ago

The guys accepting gifts for country sweeping legal authority, what do you think?

"Could they mean hes betraying Americans? No surely its about race, I mean, hes a black judge."

u/callatecabezon 4d ago

How is he a traitor to his own people? What a racist comment lmao black people can be whatever political party they want it doesn't make them traitors.

u/SoggyOven17 4d ago

Not according to Reddit they can't!

u/ASeriousAccounting 4d ago

By his own people are you just referring to people?

u/BeachSpiritual8018 4d ago

What did he do? And who' are "his" people?

u/Excellent_Airline315 4d ago

Honestly I'm tired of the Clarence Thomas hate, there are other conservative judges on the court as well. Honestly it's giving racist at this point. He sucks, but I've only ever seen Thomas singled out constantly because he's black. At some point you have to call it was it is and that's racist. I got the first few times, but he's getting to much smoke as if he's the only one that it's crap. This is how libs always end up doing racist or homophobic shit just cause the person they are criticizing is cooning on the other side of the fence.

u/0PB 4d ago

He is undeniably corrupt.

u/Excellent_Airline315 4d ago

I'm not saying he isn't, but there are other Justices that are undeniably corrupt.

u/PresentRaspberry6814 4d ago

No he is absolutely terrible. Being married to someone who helped organise the Jan 6 coup attempt as well as her long running insertion of religious extremism into government should have rendered him unsuitable for the position. Voting against the interests of black people makes him worse, as he had the privilege of benefiting from those same rules he has since voted away. The other fascist toadies are anti democratic and really aught to be charged with crimes including taking bribes and working against the American constitution and democracy, but Thomas is special.

u/Ok_Dust_7325 4d ago

All for me and none for thee is my impression of Thomas.

u/412CJ 4d ago

It's super racist every time honestly.

u/Excellent_Airline315 4d ago

Thank you, I'm glad I'm not the only one. It's getting exhausting and ridiculous at this point. The appeal to identity really needs to die. Having the expectation of allegiance because people share the same skin tone needs to die out. Not to mention the fact that the people we determine to be coons get way more hate and white people get a pass. In the end white people escape scrutiny and a black man carries the burden. He's a POS no question, but if we are only going after him, there is a problem.

u/PeteDontCare 4d ago

It goes a lot deeper than this. There is another black justice on the bench. Clarence Thomas has shared some opinions that are easy to disagree with. He's an enigma.

u/Excellent_Airline315 4d ago

He's not really an enigma. You're only saying that because he's black. All the other conservative judges have a similar voting record to him, yet I never see them being talked about as much as I see him talked about. Jackson gets hate by the right cause she's a black liberal - not to mention how Biden tried to get some brownie points by saying he is intentionally picking black woman, he completely screwed her over with that. On the other hand Thomas gets hate by the left because he's a black Republicans and huge fucking hypocrite. Either way both come from a source of racism that creates a level of scrutiny that doesn't exist for the white Justices. Barring Amy cause who some times gets dragged. Sometimes I get why the right says the left is racist. Race realism has equally poisoned the left as we end up holding black people to a different standard than white people. Calling him an enigma is BS, all he's done is assimilate into white supremacy to get ahead and he was successful in doing so.

u/Ok_Dust_7325 4d ago

Difference is Jackson isn’t using her position to drag this country back into the early 20th Century.

u/MandatoryHobo 4d ago

Lol you must have some very long arms cause your are reaching so far with these comments. Smh

u/Excellent_Airline315 4d ago

It's not a reach, just an observation. If you don't want to engage in it then move on.

u/MoskaPOET 4d ago

NO, he's corrupt because of what he does and how he does it.

u/Excellent_Airline315 4d ago

And are there no other Justices on the supreme court that are corrupt? Why aren't they discussed to the same degree? My point isn't whether he is corrupt or not, my point is the obvious racism of singling him out because he is black.

u/Ok_Dust_7325 4d ago

He’s just one of the MAGA majority on the Court. They all share the disgrace.

u/HaikuHaiku 4d ago

"race traitor! all black people MUST hold the same political views!"

found the mega racist who thinks African Americans are not allowed to think for themselves.

u/gmeape123 4d ago

u/HaikuHaiku 4d ago

agreed, that's you.

u/gmeape123 4d ago

Why yes, the typical concave-brained conservative response. Whataboutism and “no you” without an ounce of critical thinking rattling around in your skull. You aren’t in the club buddy

u/Mighty__Monarch 4d ago

Copied from myself elsewhere in the thread:

The guys accepting gifts for country sweeping legal authority, what do you think?

"Could they mean hes betraying Americans? No surely its about race, I mean, hes a black judge."

u/HaikuHaiku 4d ago

this is weak. it is clear what he meant.

u/Mighty__Monarch 4d ago

Yeah, "hes a traitor to [Americans]." Youre free to explain how him selling his opinion to whoever can pay isnt betraying Americans, but you cant.

Youre assuming and demanding we think like you instead of the obvious. Your argument is literally "but hes a black judge"

u/HaikuHaiku 4d ago

laughable. why are you lying? who are you trying to convince? yourself?

u/Mighty__Monarch 4d ago

You're free to provide where they brought race into things before you did.

u/g1aucon 4d ago

Traitor to "his people"

Could you imagine a white person saying this? I'm sure you'd call them a Nazi white supremacist.

u/TomT060404 4d ago

Oh look, a false comparison. White people have been privileged in this country, while Black people were slaves. They are not the same.

u/Mighty__Monarch 4d ago

Whats with thomas defenders and always playing the race card.

Nobody but you is assuming they mean black people instead of Americans.

u/ParticularMemory789 4d ago

Traitor to his own people? He obligated to side with democrats because he's black?

Woke judge him by his race. Conservatives judge him by his character.

u/gmeape123 4d ago edited 4d ago
