Bones only serve two purposes: structural stability and making blood. Nerves are transmitters, and meat is what moves you. Meat is not armor, it's pretty terrible at protecting you considering all the precious blood that's inside of it. You need that blood! Bones can't make it that fast!
Skin is the armor, although mainly it's armor that keeps your blood and guts in rather than keeping much of anything out.
Nurse here, bones are also integral to your body's mineral balance. You store calcium in your bones wich is then released into your blood. This is important because without the proper levels of calcium in your blood your muscles can't contract, including your heart.

But they'll still teach us that fact at school and through pbs, like i'm supposed to do something with that ill-gotten information as an 8yo kid.
