I always keep it pretty advertiser safe in all my content so I’m not sure what happened. And whether on mobile or desktop I can’t find an explanation. Never received a notification or a follow up message when i asked for a review. Anyone know how I can dig deeper?

I run an emulation channel that makes videos about Ports and emulated games for Windows, Steam Deck, and PC.

But lately, any videos that are related to native ports on Android all get Community Guidelines Strikes, while the videos with the same topic but focused on Steam Deck and PC are completely fine and don't have any problems.

What confuses me is that the scripts for the Android video and the steam deck/PC video are both almost the same, with only a few lines separating them.

The last time I tried to appeal a video with this problem, it instantly rejected the appeal (in like 1 or 2 minutes when the video was over 5 minutes). And after talking to creator support, they just say the appeal has been looked over, and there is nothing we can do, and the only thing we can do is read the Harmful or dangerous content policy section.

This is what the reason on the YouTube Studio says it is

"Content that promotes certain illegal activities isn't allowed on YouTube. This includes instructions on how to gain unauthorised access to a secure system via hacking. Additionally, content that violates YouTube's Terms of Service, or that encourages others to do so, isn't allowed on YouTube"

I have the script and the video, so if anyone can check the content and see if there is something about the Android port that I am violating YouTube's policies, please say so I can avoid it.

Also, I do not tell the viewers where to get ROMS or any copyrighted material; the only thing I show people how to download is either the emulator, the files for the native port, or mods. all inside github. And in the videos, I make sure to tell people that they should use their "legally sourced backup copy of [game name]". and the only links in the description are the github release pages that are needed to download the files.

Just wondering if anyone was able to get any success with takedowns of stolen content on TikTok. The account has been compiling my shorts into exactly 1 min tiktoks and uploading them, so I assume he's making money off of me

I’ve got a 22k-sub channel and, after three years and around 200 videos, I’m burning out from trying to optimise everything.

I’m considering switching from highly polished, time-consuming videos to simpler, more frequent uploads focused on topics I genuinely enjoy.

Has anyone made that shift from “perfect” to “good and consistent”? Did it help growth, views, revenueor just make YouTube more sustainable?

I spent years trying to make YouTube work. From 2018 onward, I launched many channels in niches like gaming and motivation, but none of them succeeded.

After completing my graduation in 2023, I started freelancing and gained hands-on experience with YouTube. In 2024, I created a faceless channel and applied everything I had learned.

That turned everything around. Today, I run three channels with 200k, 95k, and 20k subscribers. I earn an average of $2.5k monthly, with my highest earning month reaching $11k in November 2025.

It feels like YouTube live streaming in vertical used to be almost like TikTok with how many people would come through there. This was before the dual streaming with an encoder was an option and you had to schedule 2 streams to do horizontal and vertical.

Ever since they added proper dual layout streaming, I don’t get hardly any shorts viewers, if any at all. I have tested this even going back to the separate scheduled streams and still nothing.

I wonder if they changed something around that time and/or if any of you noticed a similar change.

I’m just curious, because I know the work-flow for this type of content is different compared to faceless channels, etc!

People still look at view counts like it’s 2018 and assume anyone racking up hundreds of millions of views is printing generational wealth straight fromAdSense.

The actual math on a 500,000,000 view/month dashboard shows how completely decoupled views have become from actual revenue:

1. In 2020 (The Peak Long-Form Era)

• Average RPM: ~$3.00 – $4.50 per 1k views
• Monthly AdSense Payout: $1,500,000 – $2,250,000/mo
• Annualized: $18M – $27M/year

In 2020, Shorts didn’t exist as a monetized feed. Generating 500M views meant people were actively clicking 10-to-15 minute videos. YouTube had just dropped the mid-roll threshold from 10 minutes down to 8 minutes, so a single view often served 3 to 5 ad auctions.

A creator doing this with a lean crew of 5–10 people had an 85%+ net profit margin purely off automated monthly bank wires.

2. Today (The Shorts Reality)

• Average RPM: ~$0.03 – $0.06 per 1k views
• Monthly AdSense Payout: $15,000 – $30,000/mo
• Annualized: $180,000 – $360,000/year

Almost every creator pulling 500M views a month today is doing it on vertical short-form. Shorts don't run dedicated ad breaks on your video—revenue is pooled across the entire feed and split up.

You’re getting roughly 1/100th of what long-form pays. $20,000 a month sounds decent until you realize it takes half a billion impressions to make it, and that barely covers payroll for a couple of full-time editors.

3. What If You Pull 500M Views on Long-Form Today?

Even in the rare case where someone hits those numbers on long-form (basically just MrBeast-tier channels), the economics have inverted:

• Generating that view volume in a saturated, post-follower algorithm requires cinema-grade budgets, multi-language dubbing, and 50+ person production crews.
• When each video costs $2M–$4M to produce, pulling $1.8M in AdSense means the channel actually runs at an AdSense deficit. It only survives because of off-platform CPG brands, sponsorships, and licensing.

The Bottom Line: A view is no longer a view. The era of getting wealthy purely off YouTube’s ad split has ended. If you don't own an off-platform funnel, retail product, or direct-to-fan subscription, even top-tier vanity metrics can leave you financially stuck.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to support the creators I watch as I use adblock, and watch too many people to individually donate to them all.

Youtube recently posted an article about changes to the partner program, which has pretty confusing wording but seems to imply that 60% of a Premium Lite subscription will go to the revenue pool, then 55% of that will go to creators (for long form content). So out of a $9 per month Lite subscription it seems like only $3 will go to creators and the rest will go to Youtube. Do you guys think this is the correct interpretation? Is your contract clear about what cut you get from subscriptions?

This video took longer (about 1 day to get pushed and went from a 3.7CTR to now looking like it will be around 10-11% and that’s my second video this week like that! ( my first time going all in on YouTube as a full time tiktoker)

I make videos on a game called Destiny, and at the moment I'm making very short videos explaining each armour set (videos not shorts). These videos are on average 2 minutes.

I do and have plans to make more longer videos, but with work and such, these short videos allow me to keep posting.

I recently got the ability to monetise, including activating ads which surprised me.

I'm worried if I activate ads though then it'll potentially put an unskippable ad before a 2 minute video, which certainly seems off putting.

Is there a min duration for videos before they get pre-ads? Or can I decide what video gets ads or not?

Hello everyone! So to make it short, a few months ago I made a video on YouTube about DVDs, and I wasn't expecting anything much from it really. The video performed quite well (for the first time in my YouTube journey), it reached 13K views as of right now and it seems to be growing slowly. Honestly this channel of mine was supposed to be more of a test, and a way for me to learn how to make better videos, but then out of nowhere I received a sponsorship offer for that video specifically, and not only I'm incredibly surprised but I also have no idea what to do.

I won't be specifying names, but this company is related to DVDs and they wanted me to add a mention of them in my video description and a pinned comment. I assumed it was a scam at first but the company seems legit, and their website is quite professional.

I am interested in accepting their offer after I do some more research on them, but I don't even know how much to charge for that. I would much appreciate any help in here, thanks!

7 hours for 3 minutes is insane.

For the last few days, maybe since like August 30, NOT since August 27th (the day views changed) my YT studio hasn't had the metric where you can see where your newest video ranks in the performance of your past 10 videos, after a few days, it seems to maybe show up on my YouTube studio on computer but im wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

I’m curious how people here think about channels that make documentary or commentary videos across a lot of different topics.

For example companies, internet culture, jobs, consumer stuff, weird business stories, social trends, etc. The videos may have a similar style and audience, but the actual subjects can be completely different from upload to upload.

Have any of you successfully grown a small channel like this?

My main question is how YouTube handles recommendations when one video might be about McDonald’s, the next is about the job market, and the next is about some internet culture story. It seems like YouTube rewards channels that are more straight forward in their topics.

Do you find that YouTube eventually learns the broader audience, or does every upload basically have to find a new audience from scratch?

I’d especially love to hear from people running channels where the format and perspective are consistent, but the topics are not.

AdSense PIN verification issue — exhausted multiple requests and still haven't received a PIN. What can I do?

I'm hoping someone here can guide me because I'm honestly not sure what else I can do at this point.

I've been trying to complete my AdSense address/PIN verification for the past two months. I have already requested the PIN three times, and I still haven't received it.

I've checked my address in my AdSense account.

I contacted YouTube/AdSense Support through chat and explained the situation. I specifically asked what alternatives are available because I've already requested the PIN multiple times.

The support representative initially told me to simply click "Resend PIN." I explained that I had already done this three times. They then told me that I could make up to four requests and that I should exhaust the PIN requests first.

I also asked whether there was an alternative verification method, such as manual verification with government ID, or whether the issue could be escalated. Unfortunately, I was ultimately told that the only option was to wait for the review/request to be completed.

This is extremely frustrating because my YouTube monetization has been paused, and my account is warning me that if I don't complete verification within the given timeframe, I could potentially lose monetization.

I completely understand that PIN mail can take time, but my concern is:

If I've requested the PIN multiple times, my address is correct, and the PIN simply isn't arriving, what am I supposed to do?

I don't want to keep repeating the same process and receiving the same response while the verification deadline gets closer.

So, I've made 203 dollars from Youtube ads 4 or 5 years ago, and it's been sitting in there for that same length. I've only recently completed all the verification and connecting a way to get paid. I no longer make money from the Youtube Partner Program since I was inactive. How do I make the 200 dollars go into my payment method? Is it automatic or do I need to do something else?

(YouTube doesn't disclose how many seconds because it varies depending on the situation and they don't want people to focus on gaming the system but on making satisfying video experiences for viewers)

After August 24, 2026, a view on YouTube long form, podcasts, and archived live streams is counted when a viewer either clicks on a thumbnail or an autoplay starts running for any amount of time - right from the first frame

The previous counting method still exists, but is now called "engaged views", and you can find them in YouTube Studio in Advance Analytics. (Lots of people are asking for them to be easier to access and that feedback has been shared with the team.)

There are a lot of myths being perpetuated like a view only used to count if you clicked and then watched for 30 seconds. That's not the case (likely caused by confusion around how TrueViews are counted for ads)

Since there's been no change to how views from clicks are counted, creators seeing higher increases from the view count change likely have higher numbers of autoplay interactions (e.g. more videos recommended more often in places where people are likely to hover over them before clicking)

Personally, I'm not mad about the change because this is how pretty much every other platform counts a view, and consistency can be a benefit when you're posting across platforms
