I am the only moderator left - what to do now?

Upvotes

Hi Admin! I'm a MOD of a community and all other MODs including the owner are now gone. I wanted to continue running the community but my permissions are limited? Is there anything I can do?

A member with no ban in their history, is listed as banned and contacted us

Upvotes

We had a strange interaction with one of the members of our community. They modmailed us asking why they were banned.

https://www.reddit.com/mail/all/3pasec

While investigating and looking at their history, there's no ban action visible, but they were certainly marked as banned, so we unbanned them. What could be the reason for this? Both Reddit itself, as well as our AutoMod had removed their comments, but we don't see who or what caused the ban in the first place.

IOS: NSFW Label Still Showing

Upvotes

My subreddit is still showing as NSFW even though the NSFW label has been removed from the subreddit settings. Is this a delay on Reddit’s end, or is there another setting I need to update?

Admin Replied Moderator permissions issue — “No permissions” despite Full Permissions invitation (up)

Upvotes

Hi,

I’m having an issue with my moderator status on .

The owner invited me to join the mod team with Full Permissions. I accepted the invitation successfully, and I can see myself in the moderator list as mod #6.

However, my account currently shows “No permissions” instead of Full Permissions, and I have no Mod Tools available at all for this subreddit.

Here’s what we have already tried:

✅ The owner confirmed that I was originally invited with Full Permissions.

✅ The owner and other moderators above me can see me in the mod list.

✅ When they try to change my permissions, they get “Something went wrong.”

✅ When I try to leave the mod team, I get “Failed to leave mod team.”

✅ I have tried both desktop and mobile.

✅ I have logged out and back in.

✅ I uninstalled and reinstalled the Reddit app.

✅ Old reddit shows full access, New reddit shows No Perms.

My account works normally as a moderator on another subreddit, so the issue appears to be specific to this mod team/community.

It seems like my moderator membership was created, but the permissions are stuck at “No permissions”, and neither I nor the moderators above me can modify or remove my account.

Could an admin please check?

Thank you!

Title and Comment Restrictions

Upvotes

Why are mods not exempt from title and comment restrictions they place on their communities? For example on r/veterans we exempt a lot of words for good reason and even as the mod we are not exempt from using them. There are situations where it might need to be done in a post or comment, but it isn’t able to be done so the restriction will need to be lifted and then replaced just to make a post or comment.

Mod Answered Active, helpful user shadowbanned, what should I suggest?

Upvotes

I have a user in my community who has never posted anything wrong there and, in fact, their posts are often helpful. However, they are apparently "shadowbanned," meaning that us mods have to manually approve every one of their posts. This has been the case for several months IIRC and they're up to 61 posts by now.

I have no idea why their account is in this state. What should I suggest to them?

Can't Access the User Mod Log in the Official Reddit Website anymore

Upvotes

When I click the username it usually pops up with a box, where I can see the user ModLog, access the full profile etc, instead of doing that now it just collapses the comment.

When I click the username of OP on a Post, ModLog comes up most of the time but not when it is on a comment on a Post. It also collapses the comment. It disappears too quickly to take a screenshot. It's only the username in the top of the Post, that works.

It doesn't work on any comments from any user.

I'm on Reddit Desktop, Windows 11 and using Firefox or DuckDuckGo Browsers. Have tried different Browsers, disabled extensions etc.

Any advice please?

Question regarding Inactive Moderators and Reddit Request

Upvotes

I have discovered two subreddits I would like to adopt and rehabilitate; both moderated by the same inactive account. I have adopted subs in the past but I've never paid much attention what happened to the inactive account.

When I put through a Reddit Request for subreddit one (S1), will Reddit determine this account is inactive and remove them as moderator from S1 and S2?

These are very niche and very dead subreddits so I'm not worried about someone swooping in and getting S2; I'm just curious.

Mod Answered Made a Slight mistake!

Upvotes

Made a community that was to be for SFW but made it NSFW by accident! It's for writers who would like to write cool stories, fun and of course not too spicy; fantasy and other things for fun! Able to change it?

Help with False Reports

Upvotes

My sub is getting brigaded. I reported it, nothing has been done... Don't know how long this takes?

Is there any way to prevent people from filing false reports on comments and posts? They are doing this to harass me.

Mod Answered Best tool/Devvit app to scrub historical comments with specific keywords?

Upvotes

Just joined a book subreddit with a backlog of old comments linking to shadow libraries.

Are there any active Devvit apps, bots, or scripts that can retroactively scan past comments and remove matches based on a keyword/domain list?

Mod Answered Report profile "About description"

Upvotes

If you wish to report a profile for e.g. hate speech in the "About description" (as it's listed in the profile settings), what option do you choose? Is it "Bio"?

As an example: I'm talking about the part in my own profile where it says "Mostly harmless".

Admin Replied I have a problem with permissions.

Upvotes

I am the founder of two subreddits, and in one of them I lost the ability to manage moderator permissions. At the same time, I’m at the top of the list, all permissions are available to me, but the corresponding tab is simply empty. Please help me figure this out.

Crowd control issues

Upvotes

I tried to adjust crowd control because I was dealing with a lot of unwelcome responses on my post which contradict the core beliefs of the sub and clearly aren't engaging with the sub in good faith.

How to I restrict comments to appear in the mod queue for approval by all unapproved users?

I thought about a popup message, but some people just can't help themselves and just steamroll in with their unwelcome responses.

Mod Answered ai user summarie shows information from deleted posts, can this confuse mods or this is helpful?

Upvotes

I tested ai user summary on my second mod account in community I recently created and noticed something interesting.

context of my particular situation:

I recently started a new subreddit and at first wasn't sure about the direction. I made a welcome post, but after one day I found a better way to develop the community, deleted the first post and published a new welcome post with a different direction.

When I checked the AI user summary, it still used information from the deleted post.

I understand that deleted content may sometimes be useful for moderation, like some people may hide something as one mod said, but in situations like my it can also give mods outdated or incorrect context about a user. For example, mods in other communities I participate in may see information that no longer represents what I'm actually doing.

Maybe it should clearly state that some info is collected from deleted posts and specifically show what exactly was deleted it may be more helpful for moderators?

Mod Answered SFW Video marked as NSFW. Sub is SFW

Upvotes

Hello, I posted this over in r/newmods and was directed here. I posted an mp4 video (12mins, 120mb) to my sub twice. They were both categorized as NSFW immediately (no visible tag) and both had an in-app notification of "Media Processing failed" sent to me about 30 mins later. My profile does not have NSFW enabled, but the post i made in r/newmods was automatically tagged NSFW. I'm trying to post a good amount of various types of posts as an example of what the sub should be, so any help would be great :)

Edit:This post was auto-tagged NSFW. I removed the tag. Could this be because I have a new account?

Mod Answered Users missing using the Suicide/self-harm report reason.

Upvotes

Recently on one the subs I mod for there has been an uptick in false user reports for self-harm or suicide on posts and comments that are fully normal and do not contain that subject in anyway. Is there any other ways to curb this behavior other than reporting the false reports as abuse?

Unable to add a new moderator

Upvotes

I’m trying to add a new moderator to our subreddit, but Reddit seems to be bugging out.

I sent a moderator invite and they accepted but they are not showing up on the moderator list, and they don’t have access mod tools.

I tried sending another moderator invite, but it's not going through or showing up in the mod log

We recently made some changes to our subreddit, and wanted to edit the sidebar text for old.reddit.com users, but after only editing the text, not changing any other settings, clicking save produces the following error:

Mod Answered Reporting moderators for allowing doxing

Upvotes

I'm doing a code of conduct report regarding moderators allowing and encouraging doxing in their sub. How can I include the messaging conversation with those mods where they refuse to address the issue, if we cannot include screenshots in our reports? There doesn't seem to be a way to link to a direct message conversation.

Subreddit Ban Appeal

Upvotes

onjour,

Merci.

Mod Answered How do I remove u/ModCodeOfConduct from my community’s moderator list?

Upvotes

I recently took over r/OakCliff after it had become unmoderated. The account u/ModCodeOfConduct is still listed above me as a moderator, so I don’t have the option to remove it.

Is this an expected or temporary administrative account? If it can be removed, could an admin please help me remove it or explain what I need to do?

Thanks!
