Question Looking for the people who stopped to help me and my 5 month old daughter on Thursday September 3 on I95 in Arundel when I lost control of my car and it flipped over

Post image
Upvotes

I’m hoping Reddit might help me find some incredible strangers who stopped when they saw my car crash on I-95 near Mile 28 in Arundel on September 3.

I was driving back home from Boston Children’s with my 5-month-old daughter when I lost control and my car ended up upside down. I blacked out for a period of time, and I honestly don’t know what would have happened if the people who stopped hadn’t been there.

I remember bits and pieces of what happened, and there are a few people I desperately want to find so I can thank them.

To the man in the red shirt: Your voice is one of the things I remember from coming to. You climbed into my overturned car to get to my baby and help get her out. You pulled your car up for us to sit in while waiting for an ambulance. I don’t know your name, but I want you to know that I will never forget what you did for me and my daughter. You were a stranger who saw danger and acted. I’ll never forget seeing your red t shirt match the blood on your arm from the broken glass.

To the woman who held me: After I realized my daughter and I were alive, I completely broke down. I was having a panic attack, and you held me. You also went back to your car and brought my baby a tiny pink blanket. That tiny blanket meant so much to me in that moment. I would really love to find you. You talked to me about imagining I was in the ocean even though I never told you I love the sea. I’m forever grateful to you for keeping me as calm as one could be in this moment.

To the man with glasses: You stayed at the scene helping everyone, and I believe you went into the car and retrieved my purse for me. Thank you for staying and helping when you could have just gone back to your car and kept driving.

To the woman who called 911: You called for help and spoke with my husband while everything was happening. I can’t imagine how chaotic that scene was, and I am so grateful that you stopped and helped.

My daughter and I walked away from something that could have ended very differently. I am still trying to process the fact that I am alive and that my baby is okay.

I don’t know who any of you are. I can’t believe I don’t know your names. I don’t know where you came from or why you happened to be driving past at that exact moment.

You got out of your cars. You helped me. You helped my baby. I will never forget you.

If you were one of these people, or you know someone who was at the scene, please send me a private message. I would just really love the chance to say thank you.

New Tom’s Of Maine Toothpaste Formula Is Terrible (It Has Stevia)

Post image
Upvotes

Such a shame yet another product is ruined over someone changing the formula when no one asked for it to be changed. I don't know who did this but they should be let go. They changed the original formula into a worse one with worse ingredients and actually added Stevia (rebaudioside). First time I tried the new formulation I legitimately spit it out. It tastes like sweet onion or something and tastes artificial.

Stevia is even worse than regular sugar because it messes with your metabolism. The same people who are fine with Stevia drink Diet Coke (disgusting) which is even worse for you than regular Coke. Why on earth would they add this? Why fix what isn't broken? Not buying this toothpaste anymore until they change it back to the original formula. My current alternative I’m using is Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil Mint Toothpaste. I’m liking it so far.

Motorcycle with bad title… I just wanna ride clean!

Upvotes

Just got a motorcycle!

When the guy went to sign over the title he realized it’s actually a broken chain of ownership. It was a bunch of friend of a friend deals, after the initial sale, and it finally wound up with him. So there is a single title transfer on it.

The guy seemed very earnest and not a thief, I think the bike just got passed around a few years.

I have a bill of sale and insurance, and this what is now a dirty title. I want to register it today, at the small town office in my area.

Anyone been through this before? I don’t want to ride dirty and the season is almost over. Thx!

(Btw it’s a DR650 and I’m so pumped to whip it)

Question Best local mom and pop restaurant?

Upvotes

I’m looking for some really good, small family-owned restaurants in Maine. The kind of place that’s been run by the same family forever, isn’t part of a chain, and maybe looks a little unassuming from the outside but you know for sure it has amazing food.

I’d especially love recommendations for authentic food from different cultures.

What are your favorite hidden gems?

Have no idea exactly what happened here. Could have been a bee sting for all we know. Keep that in mind.

Still, would like to take this opportunity to point out something I've noticed while out riding my motorcycle this summer. Every time. Every single time. A car or truck comes across the centerline. Every time. And they are not just drifting over and quickly correcting. They are coming deep into my line and staying there for about 2 or 3 seconds or more. I just look at the ditch, slow down, and start going there. Local and State police here are cracking down on passed vehicle inspections. How about we have another campaign against on people on their phones?

Went for the first time with my family years ago when I was around 10 years old. Over 20 years later I’ve decided to check it out again. Seeing the balloons departing & floating in the sky is peaceful & picturesque. All of the bright vivid designs & colors!

Someone is lighting off fireworks at 5:45am in South Berwick

It's labor day morning. A holiday for the workers by the workers. So let's celebrate by setting off explosions waking everyone up even earlier than if they had work today. Great thinking moron.

Is anyone else stuck on "Final stage of review" for the $300 affordability check?

Upvotes

My portal tracker has been showing the exact same "final stage of review" message for over a month now. I know I meet all the eligibility rules, but the screen hasn't changed at all.Has anyone else been stuck this long? Did your status ever change, or did the physical check just show up in the mail anyway

Discussion Conway Scenic has sent official proposal to operate rail line between Fryeburg and Portland

This is definitely a Hail Mary throw by CSRR to save the mountain division, but I think it could work. In an earlier video by this guy he mentioned that Maine has something about rail lines precedence over rail trails so this could stop the line being ripped up. CSRR is mainly interested in running freight on this and apparently has companies on NH and VT interested in the lines revival. I don’t know about companies in Maine yet but if it’s brought back some may swap over. I know funds have already been allocated for tearing the line up so who knows what will happen currently. Best option for both would probably be a rail with trail like how it is in Fryeburg. Watch the video before commenting.

Does anyone have experience with their facilities and trainers?

Leonard Leo’s mouthpiece calls Maine a “shit hole” state

Upvotes

Steve Robinson calls Maine a “shithole state”

Wealthy MDI resident Leonard Leo has poured millions of dollars into this right-wing influencer’s outlet to spread the word that Maine is a “shit hole state” infested with drugs and crime.

We have problems with poverty and drugs like every state in the country, but these guys act like Bangor is South Central LA in the 80s.

Hello. I'm looking for experiences with "Cash 4 Homes" or other sell property quick companies.

Post image
Upvotes

Hey folks, posting here and more locally on /r/LAmaine

I have a distressed property that belonged to my MiL that I would greatly like to sell to somebody to make into a home of their own, but don't have the money to get it up to snuff. As time is an issue with the home's current issue, I feel the best option on my end is to sell to such places as mentioned in the title.

Does anyone have experiences with such businesses? Out of the (surely) many of them, which treated you or someone you know best?

All help is appreciated. I am a real person (even if shamefully a transplant from NY over 10 years ago). As payment, here is a cat.
