Frosh thinking about majoring in iapa, poli sci, or Econ

I'm a little worried about how close ENGL 0900 is to my NEUR Lab/evening class. The buildings are apparently only a 6 minute walk apart, but I'm wondering if that's too close. I'm unable to move the ENGL 0900 class and the only other time for the NEUR lab overlaps with a club I've been really excited about joining. Thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated!

My daughter Clara and I will be visiting Brown on September 16, before the official prospective-student tours begin, and we would love to meet a current student who could spend about an hour walking around campus with us and sharing what Brown is actually like from a student's perspective.

We are especially interested in hearing how students use the Open Curriculum, what opportunities have mattered most to you, and what student life feels like beyond the official tour.

Clara is particularly interested in entrepreneurship and nutrition/public health, so someone involved with the Nelson Center, entrepreneurship, public health, nutrition, or food-related work would be especially interesting to meet, although that is definitely not a requirement.

I'm a rising sophomore moving into Wayland, and I was wondering whether there is enough space at the rear of the desk for a C-clamp for a monitor arm. Like what is the space between the modesty panel and the rearmost of the desk. Even if you're not in Wayland, any insight would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

I was deciding between CS0111 and CS0150, but I've been hesitant to choose CS0150 because I've heard it has a large time commitment and I'm worried that class paired with my other STEM courses would leave me with less time to socialize and be active in clubs. Any thoughts? Anything I should know about the other courses in my schedule?

Is anyone else having trouble accessing floor plans? I went through the campus map, and Google Drive says I don't have access (even though I'm using brown email).

i am currently interested in concentrating in public health and modern culture and media (with a focus on film) while being on a pre-med track. i honestly don’t know if this is a realistic goal, but i will mention that i fully plan on taking a gap year before med school. i have never been able to decide my own schedule for school before so i feel completely out of my element choosing. i am debating on whether i should enroll into the more “introductory” bio and chem classes however. i have never done AP classes, but i took community college courses for bio, however it was really basic. also, i took honors chem sophomore year and while i did really well, i hated it so didn’t absorb any information. it just feels like intro classes will greatly help prepare me.

one of the more prominent issues however is the thought of having 4 consecutive classes most days and having a couple night classes. i really cannot get around not having the 4 consecutive classes, even if i just focused on pre-med and public health. if anything i was considering taking hsp 310 next year. please give brutal advice, i am totally lost and open to advice

Hi! I'm an incoming neuro freshman and I’m looking to do premed. I have never taken AP Chemistry, and I don’t feel confident about my background in AP Chemistry with me only taking Honors Chemistry sophomore year. I’m looking to take Intro Chem, but many people say it’s a waste of time.

Also, I have already taken above-AP genetics and neuro. I have also already taken AP calc bc. If you have any suggestions of intro chem, or any other opinions on my general schedule as a pre-med please chime in!

So my family and I just finished packing and we have quite a bit of stuff. I am in Jameson mead, so there will only be street spaces available during move in that are not right next to the building. I was wondering if Brown provides any sort of carts or anything during that time? Any help is appreciated!

Hi guys, incoming freashman year! I noticed that Brown has a shuttle system. I was just curious about how often it is used by students and if there are any known problems or quirks.

I need some help on what action i should take. i want to be a neurologist in the future, and i plan to double concentrate at brown just to learn as much as i can and show whatever med school i have extensive knowledge in more than one area. i was gonna originally double concentrate in neuro and econ, just in case medicine doesn't work out so i have a way out (and some knowledge in this area is just good to know). but now that i'm looking at the requirements, they don't overlap at all and it would be a lot of work with minimal space for classes i want to take for fun. i didn't think double concentration at brown would be hard bc it's what they're known for. so a few questions arise:

1. should i ditch this plan entirely because the workload is simply too much?
2. what should i concentrate in alongside neuroscience to successfully pursue what i want to do, and which one is easy to do along with neuro so concentration requirements overlap?
3. what courses do i NEED to take for med school?
4. any advice from upperclassmen, grad students, or anyone else that have the same interests as me would be more than helpful. my dms are open as well. thanks a lot!

Incoming freshman here. I plan on taking both physics and CS courses, so I wanted to get the prerequisites out of the way early. I wanted to do CSCI 0190 (accelerated intro to cs) and PHYS 0070 (analytical mechanics) in the fall, but if I'm reading CAB right they both occupy the same time slot. The only options I can see are either to switch to the CSCI 0170-->200 track (but I already finished the placement 😦 ) or to take PHYS 0070 next year (since it's not offered in the Spring and PHYS 0050 is the same time slot), both of which I am hesitant to do.

Any advice? Realistically, what difference would switching from 0190 to 0170/200 make? I honestly still find the whole network of prereqs a little daunting.

basically what the title says; as an incoming freshman, i'm very unsure about my current schedule (are these classes fine? is it possible to move from class to class within 10 minutes?). is this schedule even a doable one, disregarding the fact that i also want to work-study?

abt the 40 hr week portion, i got an email that i was eligible for OCFWS, and i received a list of off-campus federal work-study internships i could do. i'm most interested in Brown University Health's Connect for Health advocate position and RI Free Clinic Patient and Volunteer Services advocate position. however, in the job description for the former, it says i would be expected to work 20-40 hr weeks (is this even correct?).

i would love love love any input on my schedule, experiences with work-study as a pre-med, and other advice for incoming freshmen who are interested in medicine in general.
