Question CAPS
Hi! I was just wondering what people think of CAPS at Brown and its helpfulness. Also wondering if there are OCD specialists or would that require an outside referral? Thank you!

when I was an undergrad (admittedly forever ago) they’d see you for a certain number of sessions and then refer you out if you needed ongoing care. but they were nice about it! And the referrals were good referrals, usually close to campus, and could take into account the sort of thing you were dealing with. I don’t have specific ocd experience but I was referred out and loved the person they referred me to

Found CAPS very helpful for psychiatry / meds but used external therapist specializing in OCD!

Seconding plastic-grapes, not made for long-term care but super helpful for immediate issues: figuring out next steps, working with depression/anxiety for the first time, etc. (what I used them for). You go in for a 30 minute triage first where you tell them what issues you have, afterward they will set you up with a counselor for 1 50 minute biweekly session (session may be more frequent if they think you're struggling a lot). It's a good resource for undergraduates.

They’re helpful for basic / immediate issues; if you have a more complicated situation or need regular counseling they’ll generally refer you to therapists outside of Brown
