So my family and I just finished packing and we have quite a bit of stuff. I am in Jameson mead, so there will only be street spaces available during move in that are not right next to the building. I was wondering if Brown provides any sort of carts or anything during that time? Any help is appreciated!
Yes, lots of Bruno Leaders in brightly colored t-shirts pushing wheeled carts around. Some of them are more helpful and outgoing than others. Some of them don't look up from their phones, and you have to say, "Hello, you in the teal shirt, could you please help me?" I don't think you need to worry about renting anything until you get to campus and assess the situation. Your CC (Res Life student) will be there and should be helpful. My experience is that people at Brown are typically happy to help; you just need to ask directly because there are lots of smart people who may not necessarily be the best at picking up on subtle social cues.
last year, they had volunteers to help unload everything from the cars to keep the cars moving in a drop off line fashion. there were carts and people ready to help bring things to your dorm
you can rent a cart from Grad E key office (3rd floor, same level as the ramp - recommend that
you go through Charlesfield Entrance). You have to put something down as collateral. Probably no help, freshman help was CCs/Meiks in the past assigned to shifts
Enter on the Thayer St side (pictured) and go up the spiral staircase and the middle building is the office. Or enter through the ramp on Charlesfield if you can't go up and down steps
Seconded. Bruno Leaders were very helpful during my orientation. But I lived in a dorm with an elevator, for the dorms without one do they just lug up your things? That sounds painful.
