dating New Russian girl scam?
I make it real short: matched with this russian girl on tinder, when it came to setting up a date ahead batted down a couple of places I suggested, claiming the food or drinks are shit. and instead said we go to this karaoke bar right across Havana social. I was like ok whatever. When we arrived meet and greet and go inside the bar they put the menu in front of me and my eyes popped out when I see the prices. 700 baht for a cocktail? >2000 for a glass of blue label, which is what she intended to order! I told her hey I really do not understand these prices. Do not make any sense! We can go to much better places and still spend much less. Not even sure the liquor here is gonna be legit. She started saying some nonsense. I was like if you insist on staying here I am gonna bounce. She did insist, and I bounced. Just wondering if this is a new scam? Was she working with the bar?

discussion Is having yourself as your phone lock screen especially common in Bangkok?
I’ve noticed a huge number of women here have solo photos/selfies of themselves as their lock screen. It seems way more common than anywhere else I’ve lived.
Is this a Thailand/Bangkok thing, or an international trend I’ve somehow missed?
I’ll admit I instinctively find it a bit narcissistic and off putting and verging into red flag territory -but if it’s this common there’s probably a cultural or generational explanation. Curious what others think?

beauty and maintenance Facial aesthetic clinics or dermatologist office in BKK
I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about aesthetic clinics in Bangkok as obviously there are a lot of people getting a lot of work done here. But I’m looking for more general consensus on where to actually go. Where do the high-so people go to get work done. I’m not particularly looking for a factory clinic where they will just upsell me stuff. I don’t need. I would love to have a real consultation at a reputable place. This would be my first time going in for a consultation or to get stuff done. For example I’m looking for ultherapy, TTP, oligo, rejurian procedures like this. Not procedures where I’m going under the knife.
event Big Bang Concert in Bangkok - anyone here going alone or with friends?
Hi! I fortunately scored 1 ticket for the November 8 Big Bang concert in Bangkok. I'm going alone. But I am looking for other concert-goers to meet before and after the event to share the fun and energy! Hope to meet and get to know y'all!

sport & fitness Golf groups in Bangkok
When I visited Pattaya, there were several active golf groups run out of bars. They organized 3x-5x golf trips a week, complete with tee-times and ride shares in their cars; only had to come to their bar with my clubs in the morning and off we went. Are there any groups like that in Bangkok? I’ll be there in January for almost a month and would love to get out and play.

discussion we all love bangkok, but what's the one thing you miss from home?
not a complaint post, bangkok wins on most things.
still, everyone seems to have that one thing from back home that's either not here at all or costs three times what it should. usually it's food. sometimes it's a shop, or some paperwork that took ten minutes back there.
what's yours?

discussion No dunking in public park.
To anyone who plays at any public court, for God sake stop trying to dunk. You know who you are and you just broke off a rim cleanly off the backboard. Remember this, it will take months to repair and there are many people (Thai , foreigners, children) who lose the opportunity to play basketball because you can't control yourself.

discussion Can a foreigner file a criminal complaint against a ride-hailing platform in Thailand?
I was involved in a traffic accident in Thailand while using a ride-hailing platform.
There is an official police report, and it was later confirmed that the vehicle dispatched through the platform was operating illegally.
The company has acknowledged that there were problems on their side, but they have essentially tried to shift the responsibility to the driver and have ignored my requests for a proper apology and compensation for several months.
I have already reported the matter to several Thai authorities, but the process has been very slow with little progress. Because of this, I am now considering filing a criminal complaint against the company itself.
I am not interested in pursuing the driver. My concern is the company's own responsibility and conduct.
I have spoken with several lawyers, but their opinions differ, and there doesn't seem to be much precedent for this type of case.
So my main question is:
Can I simply go to the relevant police station with a Thai interpreter, present the police report and evidence, and ask to file a criminal complaint against the company?
If anyone has practical experience with criminal complaints against companies in Thailand, especially as a foreigner, I would appreciate your advice.

discussion Meal Prep delivery service for cold/frozen so I can reheat later
Wondering if anybody knows of a service that doesn't deliver hot food like grab, but like a meal prep delivery service where I can order a week's worth of food in plastic containers where I can just reheat in microwave or oven. I want something that's even more instantaneous where I just heat up instead of waiting for delivery and it's more used to what I have at home. I don't know if the economics would make sense, but does anybody know if there's a service like that out there?

beauty and maintenance Beauty Advice Needed!
M31 here and visiting Bangkok for the first time!
I'm interested in getting laser to smoothen my skin and slowly get rid of scarring (I know one session won't be enough but want to take advantage of the services while I'm there!)
I also want to get some botox for my forehead (I've gotten botox in Korea before in my forehead).
Two questions:
1) Are there any recommended/reputable places for botox and laser treatment? Transparently, I'm trying to avoid places that are heavily influenced by promoters/influencers as those are usually not the best imo. I'm coming from the U.S. so would prefer a place that can speak English!
2) Is it possible to do both laser + botox within the same day? If so, are there any clinics that can do both services?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

discussion Withdraw from credit/debit card in a bank with no fee
Hi,
I've seen some videos online that claim that if you go with your passport and with your physical card to some banks in Bangkok, they can process a cash withdrawal without charging the extra fee (usually 250-350 in ATMs).
Is this truth? Any specific banks that work?
If this doesn't work, any other way to get cash from a card without paying the extra ATM fee?
Thank you so much.

discussion Unique/Fun things to greet friend with when they arrive in BKK
My best friend is flying in internationally to BKK and I would like to suprise them at the airport when they arrive with something special- maybe a fun street performer at arrivals or a party tuk tuk to pick them up.
Does anyone have any other ideas? Nothing is quite off the table.. the more unique/exciting, the better. For reference, their flight lands in the middle of the day.
