discussion No dunking in public park.
To anyone who plays at any public court, for God sake stop trying to dunk. You know who you are and you just broke off a rim cleanly off the backboard. Remember this, it will take months to repair and there are many people (Thai , foreigners, children) who lose the opportunity to play basketball because you can't control yourself.

I occasionally troll on here too so I knew what would happen. I just hope that the one who broke the backboard might see it and hope they know the consequences of their action.

Change management 101 is having the right conversations doesn’t really matter if that individual sees it. Put the utterances out there enough times and it leads to culture change.
OP only has a few hundred thousand to do.

Change management 101 is awareness that there is a problem that needs to be fixed with the people involved. Writing a post on a specific subreddit about a specific incident that occurred at a random park in Bangkok, in which the offender likely is not apart of and will never see. It's a biiiiig stretch to call this change management, no matter how many hundred thousand times OP utters it.

Obviously there was sarcasm based on the unachievable amount. But changing a culture is definitely change management and thinking dunking is cool and vandalising property is ok is part of that.
Dunking is fucking stupid really. And I’ve seen people ruin easy points because of it.
Nothing but net is where it’s at.

Dunking and destroying them hoops is fun. I love the feeling of breaking it, glasses shattered around me and with a hoop in my one hand. I feel like I’m invincible.

Not allowing dunking is the lamest rule ever. If you can dunk...dunk! Go to a court with competitive, athletic players and tell them they can't dunk. That's not street ball. That's a big fat no. It's the responsibility of the park to install collapsible rims or use stronger ones.

I'm in touch with the reality of street ball in the US. A no dunking rule would never fly there. I grew up playing basketball in a lot of these parks. I guess Thailand is just different.

Which park courts?
I was dunking this morning in Rod Fai but I am very careful and did not harm the rim at all. I do not hang on the rim. It just is not that common here so some of the kids at the court wanted to see it.
