You know it really sucks that so many bigoted people just go "oh you think these people are human? It must be because you're one of them!" Practically no capacity for embathy, or even understanding the damn concept of it lol
I mena even the ones that are fine with us existing don't defend us to bigots much, so it's highly likely if they're defending queer rights they're queer themselves.
I accidentally came out to my transphobic religious grandpa in a Zaxbys 4 years ago because he had put my deadname on the order and then I ignored them calling our order out twice (I’ve gotten to the point where I barely respond to it anymore). When he said “they called your name, do you want me to go grab it?” I was so confused for a split second before saying, out loud, “oh, right, I forgot you put that name on it.”
That combined with my general appearance over the last few years finally made something click in his brain. We had a very uncomfortable drive back to his house.
Funnily enough he is my landlord now because I am renting his spare home, and i started testosterone the second I moved in. He said something about me being trans the day I moved in, I said something back to the effect of “you can still see me as your little girl as much as you want, I’m not going to stop you, but you saying that is not going to stop me either. I love you, but I’m not going to have this conversation with you anymore.’ and he has not said anything about it since.
My parents are also transphobic, not in the ‘I hate you and I’m going to kick you out’ kinda way but not supportive by any means. I’ve been out to them for nearly 7 years now, still see them like twice a week but they’ve learned to stop taking their stupid pills when I’m around because I will get the fuck in my car and leave if they start up about it.
My grandmas (maternal and paternal) are my most supportive immediate family members, aside from my cousins. They’re the only ones I’ll have a legitimate conversation with about that aspect of my life.
TLDR is they’ve learned to just leave me alone when it comes to gender. I keep them at arms length.
Understandable and thank you for answering my questions. So glad your grandmothers are there for you. I lost mine in 2017 but at some point I let her know I was ace without saying I was ace and she was super cool about it. She was one of those old ladies who cuss like a sailor and didn't take anyone's shit. I miss her.
Dad was going off about Lia Thomas , saying mediocre athletes transition just to dominate women's sports , he also brought up Imane Khelif
(Course he didnt knew their names and used slurs as place holders) I got heated and brought up facts from google, before i realised it all eyes were on me 🤐
True that, it’s already pathetic to hear of a manchild doing something like this, even on an adult woman, but it would be way worse if he picked up fights with children.
Ngl, dude, you should be genuinely watching your mouth a bit if it’s so serious. Like, don’t get me wrong, transphobia sucks, but you have to think about yourself too. You can’t help anyone (or properly transition) if you end up homeless.
Best advice I have gotten from an older gay is shut the fuck up, stack your money up and you can live your truth once you fly the coup. As for now, stay silent and just lie to them.
I did the same thing once and my brother in law suggested I was trans so I asked if I should whip out my dongle at the table and the conversation only kept better from this point on
usually when that argument comes up i just chud out and say they're lazy sore losers for complaining and should just train harder. actual arguments dont work on conservatoids you just gotta out-chud them.
p.s.: make sure to also throw in a long rant about how if we let fucking michael phelps compete there's no reason to not let Lia or Imane compete
I just knew I had to do something, so I consulted mad lib generator and it landed on <punch> <princess> <neck>. I knew that I couldn't do exactly that but we got there before it was too late.
Look im not trying to be a transphobe or homophobe by any means. But i got a gay friend who told me he was gay when we went out one time. Now problem is we're in a country where that would get him in trouble and i keep telling him, cant you just shut up for a while till youre outta here, you dont need to tell everyone and anyone because eventually itll get you in trouble.
Point is, maybe i really dont get it because im not a member of the lgbtq, but when you are, in this case dependent on your family and ypu know theyre conservative, why not just shut up till youre outta there? Is it really worth the risk of going homeless without financial aid? Especially when, you absolutely know your parents absolutely arent having it, it just sounds illogical to me. Atleast when youre 18, and have a job, you can tell them then since there really isnt a risk of anything. But untill then, you dont have to disclose anything, do you?
Yeah we get that , been holding it in for a long time.
Its partially the same reasson they get such a strong reactions when they see anything queer, i cant help but be appalled when i hear hatefull spew.
Its easy to slip up sometimes cause you can make a simple correction like saying Imane khelif is a cis woman, which for me is such a simple and hard to dispute point , but theyre so deep in the rabbithole any pushback seems so incriminating.
