A small set of self-inking rubber stamps. I'm assuming either Arabic or Farsi.

What do they say? What context would they be appropriate for use? I do a lot of postcard mailing arouind the world.

Japanese [Japanese > English]

Upvotes

Hi, I'd like to get a tattoo that evokes the idea 'even broken things can be the most beautiful' — or alternatively, 'live being true to yourself.'

I was recommended these Japanese phrases, but I'm not 100% sure they're accurate, so I'd love a second opinion:

ありのままに生きる

傷も美しい

Could someone confirm if these are correct and natural-sounding in Japanese? Thank you!

French French > English

Upvotes

Hello frens, I have a request :) I like learning songs in different languages but the song id like to learn doesn’t have lyrics published. It’s half English/ half French if any one could please translate by ear I will luv u 4ever. The song is called “She Changed The Door” by Eva Valerie here’s the English part I’ve gathered if you could fill in the blanks <3

I woke up tired of repeating days, ….
Every step felt ….
A life (preformed) <- (maybe English, maybe a different word in french)
I wore my strength….
But underneath I wanted more
I didn’t fall …..
Shows a new rhythm …..
No drama, no ……..
Just a woman (claiming) <- (maybe English, maybe a different word in french) ……
I didn’t run….
………
They called it safe …….
A narrow path …..
But safety can …..
When youre as ……
I closed my past …..
And kept my dignity with me
I didn’t fall …..
Shows a new rhythm….
No drama, no …..
Just a woman (claiming) <- (maybe English, maybe a different word in french) ……
I didn’t run….
……
Some women wait …..
…….
I carry calm …..
Strength as I shout??? <- I honestly don’t know what she’s saying) …..
I step forward……

Thanks in advance:)

Greek [English > Greek] Help refining a nuanced translation of wedding rites

Upvotes

Is this the correct place to ask for help? I'm the host of an ongoing fantasy podcast with a modest following, looking for help refining some Greek wedding rites for characters to speak on air. As we have some Greek listeners, it's important to me to get it right.

I am writing a scene where two characters are reciting short wedding rites. Normally we just perform in English, but for this important scene, I want them to speak in something that represents their native language. The fictional country is extremely old and historically influential in the setting, so I decided to use Greek to represent it on air. The lines will be performed by me and one other co-host.

The particular family that the characters are marrying into has a reputation for being cruel. Therefore, their rites are intended to be sharp and possessive. Their marriage ritual is extremely simple - each person pricks their finger and lets a drop of their blood fall into a goblet of wine, and they drink it. They then take turns saying some simple call-and-response lines, something like,

"I give myself to you." "I take and consume you."

In English, it's something of a double entendre. Superficially it means "I accept and drink this part of your body," but contextually it means "I claim and take possession of you (through the blood I drink)". This is intentionally weird because of how unpleasant the specific family is meant to be.

A half-Greek friend of mine translated the following for me:

"Σου δίνω τον εαυτό μου." "Σε παίρνω και σε καταναλώνω."

However, he's not fluent, and said that it doesn't capture the concept of possession/absorption that the English variation conveys, nor is he sure that the tone sounds menacing enough.

Would anyone here be willing to look over my friend's translation and help me refine it? I'm open to modification suggestions, too, if there are cultural connotations I could possibly leverage. I know there will never be a 1:1 translation, but I'm hoping to find something which might evoke the same menace.

Because it's an audio show, I would also be extremely grateful if anyone could provide a slowly-spoken example of how to pronounce it. I could chuck it into google translate, but we all know that's not ideal.

Thank you to anyone who's taken the time to read this, and to anyone who's able to help.

Arabic [Arabic, possibly Ottoman Turkish>English] Stone in Orthodox monastery

Saw this in an Orthodox monastery in Romania, to say I'm extremely curious about what it says is an understatement.

I tried to stitch it together in Photoshop and Gemini managed to highlight the letters while making the shadows more intense, AFAIK without altering anything meaningful. AI has been useless as far as I can tell, the transcriptions it provided don't seem to match, but then I can't even tell what the orientation is supposed to be so...

The initial, "unenhanced" collage is there, in any case. Thanks!

Japanese Japanese > English

Upvotes

It‘s a sentence which I got from google. I wanted to know if it makes sense for japanese people or if it‘s some sort of gibberish.

すべては過ぎ去る

It should mean something along the lines of: Everything shall pass.

Is it correct and does it read naturally?

Hola, estaba hablando en un foro con una persona, me ha contestado esto, pero no sé si se refiere a que es correcta solo la observación de golpear a Joey, o toda la idea respecto a que no hay celos románticos hacia la chica. Me puede alguien ayudar?
