Hi everyone, I'm looking to get a clean SVG (vector) file of the historical flag of Iran featuring the Lion and Sun emblem (Shir-o-Khorshid).
The image I have is slightly blurry around the emblem details:
Here is the reference image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GduGMo9-hmLBIWNxAWQrnz5eVdF2KcrM/view?usp=sharing
Thank you so much for your help!
What DrawLang is
DrawLang is a tiny, deterministic drawing language, plus a reference interpreter, three rendering backends (SVG / PostScript / PDF), and a thin web editor built on top of them. Every visible mark on a drawing — every line, arc, symbol, and character of text — is a plain-text opcode statement stored as a database record. Nothing is drawn by ad-hoc application code.
Why it exists
Most CAD and diagram tools bake geometry into code, so a drawing becomes unreproducible the moment you change tools or versions. DrawLang inverts that model:
Any drawing you make is a plain ASCII program you can commit to git, diff line by line, template, and round-trip through any compliant interpreter forever.
What the language looks like
Two-letter mnemonics, comma-separated arguments, semicolon-terminated statements:
mr,0,158;
dl,14,0;
mr,0,-1;
dl,-14,0;
tz,8;
tx,0.,A1;
Get involved
docs/spec/drawing-language-spec.md in the repoThis subreddit is where language spec changes get proposed and reviewed before anything is merged, along with general discussion, questions, and drawings people make with it. Say hi, ask questions, share what you build.

Can someone help me convert the pumpkin in this image to an SVG? I am trying to convert it so it has 6 layers to use my Cricut to cut fabric and HTV. Whenever I use an svg generator or upload it into design space to edit, the pumpkin gets distorted. I would appreciate any assistance!
Over the last year I've spent a lot of time with the shape() specification and have built a few tools to make things a little easier:
shape() syntax.shape() to polygon() for the purposes of fallbacks, or in some cases a straight replacement since it's usually much more compact.shape() code, very much inspired by SVGO.All just simple web based tools built with sveltekit.
Have tested them with every shape I can get my hands on but if you find anything that doesn't work I'd love to hear about it!

Title basically, I'm coding a project that's about managing a sports team, and I need thousands of different faces. To achieve this the obvious idea went around procedurally generated faces through SVG composing, or PNG stacking.
For that tho, I need single SVG for each face feature.
Just as an example, the following project has a generator which uses many SVGs that individually represent a single face feature (shape, eyes, hair, nose...)
Problem is, it's non-commercial, and I'm not yet sure if i'll release for totally free or put some sort of monetization later, so I'm exploring alternatives.
Ideally, I'd generate them with AI but I'm having quite a bit of trouble trying to get consistent results, since the target is to have at least 50ish assets divided into the various categories
Does anybody have any suggestions for my use case? Preferred style is cartoon-realistic (see reference generated by AI), but that's not set in stone
AI generated reference (which is fine, but getting the single components is a pain):

I've tried it against others like VTracer and it performs similarly or even more accurately in some cases. Also works of single colour outlines and gradient fills.
This feature will be part of a comprehensive SVG Editor Suite that I'm looking to roll out for Beta testing within next couple of weeks.
What features do you expect of a bitmap vectorizer?
r/svg • u/SkepticalSkool • 21d ago
I'm currently developing a free comprehensive SVG editor that has the with the capability to define parametric constraints/relations:
- Distance between vertices on a path / shape
- Distance between vertices of multiple separate paths or shapes
- Edge length
- Angle between adjacent edges
- Distance between vertices and canvas guides
- Pin vertices to canvas
- Parallel and perpendicular constraint
Constraints will work in a similar way to CAD tools like SolidWorks
I will be releasing a Beta version within the coming weeks
Just a couple questions:
- Does this sound useful?
- What features would you want to see in this app?
Other features implemented:
- Bezier pen tool
- Curvature tool
- Shape primitives (Rectangle, Line, Ellipse, Polgon, Star)
- Free draw with primitives auto recognition
- 2d to 3d extrude
- 2-point Perspective tool
- Shape builder inspired by Illustrator
- Radial repeat, grid repeat, repeat along path
- Art brush
- Custom corner profile for rectangles (Bevelled, Stepped, Superellipse, Rounded)
- Pathfinder options
- Select by colour, similar shapes
- Text tool
- Stroke to path, text to path
- Export JPEG, PNG, SVG, Illustrator, PDF

Hey everyone,
I work as an educator (pædagog) at a public school in Denmark, where I teach kids basic makerspace tech and laser cutting.
Getting kids started with vector design has always been a pain. Full desktop tools like Inkscape or Illustrator are way too cluttered for beginners (and don't run on cheap school Chromebooks anyway). On the flip side, most web tools require student logins, clouds, or paid accounts, which doesn't fly with strict Danish/EU school privacy rules.
I'm not a professional developer, so with the help of AI coding tools, I started building my own lightweight alternative: KnotenSVG (https://knotensvg.dk).
The idea is super simple:
It’s very much a work in progress, and I’d love some honest thoughts from people who cut stuff daily:
Link is live here:https://knotensvg.dk
Any feedback, bug spots, or feature ideas are very welcome!

Every image-to-SVG converter advertises "100% accuracy," and none of them define it. I built one that actually measures it.
Vecline renders its own SVG output back to pixels with the same renderer a browser uses, and scores it against the source with SSIM, PSNR and CIEDE2000. The number you see is measured from the real output, not estimated from the settings.
What that buys you:
- On flat artwork (logos, icons, UI, screenshots, pixel art) it's bit-exact: the SVG rasterizes back to the source with zero differing pixels, in a smaller/faster file than potrace, imagetracerjs or vtracer. You can reproduce the head-to-head yourself with `npm run compare`.
- On photographs, tracing is approximation by definition, so it says so and reports how close it landed instead of claiming perfection.
- A `--lossless` mode that returns a byte-verifiable SVG or fails, never a silent near-miss.
- Cut-ready DXF with a real physical size (`--units mm --physical-width 80`) plus EPS/PDF/G-code, for the maker/CAD/laser crowd.
- PDF and Office rendering, all local.
- A zero-dependency portable core that's CI-proven to bundle for a browser at 85 KB, and an MCP server so an agent can vectorize and verify its own output.
MIT, no signup, nothing uploaded. There's a browser app that runs entirely client-side.
The part I'm most happy with is boring: because the tool measures itself, it also catches me. It has flagged three of my own README overclaims (a benchmark that was true against a wrapper but not vtracer's real binary; a "render-preserving" label that was actually a ~0.02 SSIM trade; a `convert` command that couldn't do 100 of the 121 conversions the docs advertised) and I fixed each in public. For a project whose whole pitch is "measured, not asserted," being adversarial toward its own claims is the actual feature.
Repo: https://github.com/shunyagatha/Vecline
Try it: https://vecline.xyz
npm: `npm install vecline`
Happy to answer anything about the measurement approach, the tracing internals, or where it loses (it is genuinely worse than vtracer on file size for some photos, which the README now says).
Need help!

For my job, I have to load large rolling cases into a box truck. Id like to use a free nesting software called Deepnest.io to help me find the best way to place the boxes. It's mostly very easy - I make an SVG file with rectangles the size of the truck, and the dimensions of the rolling cases, and the program shows the optimal way to load them. EXCEPT I cannot figure out how to label the individual boxes
Is there a way to add text to the boxes so it will stay grouped when I run it through the sorter?

I need to convert these files into SVG files of at most 14 kbytes so I can use them in the GT7 game. Could someone here help me with this? I would be very grateful. I’m having problems with the online converters, I don’t have much experience and I can’t manage to do the conversion in a way that I can use them in the game. Thank you.

I kept doing this stupid thing where I'd find an icon I liked, realize it didn't quite fit, then start checking other icon libraries.
Eventually I wondered how many versions of the same icon were actually out there.
Turns out... a lot.
So I made a little search tool that puts 28 open-source icon libraries in one place.
You search for something and can compare the results from different libraries instead of opening them one by one.
There are 134k+ icons in it right now.
I originally made it because I wanted it myself, but I'm curious what people who actually work with SVGs think.
What would make this genuinely useful for you?

The standard workflow for managing vector assets always felt completely broken to me. Whether I was mocking up a UI or putting together brand assets, I was constantly maintaining massive, cluttered folders of SVG icon packs. Downloading a 50MB zip file just to extract one minimalist envelope icon and then manually cleaning up the XML paths to make it inline-friendly was a massive waste of time.
The main realization was that these aren't images - they are just instructions. We shouldn't need to collect them or have permanent access to physical files. I decided to build a personal solution centered strictly on this stateless philosophy.
Over the last month, I put together dot.qrware.pl. It’s a completely free utility where you define the basic parameters of the icon you need, and it immediately spits out clean, optimized inline SVG code. No accounts, no database of saved files, no hoarding. You generate the asset, copy the code directly to your clipboard, and embed it into your markup or design tool.
I’m sharing it here because I know many of you suffer from the same "asset fatigue". If you guys find this approach useful, or if you have suggestions on how to improve the generated code structure to better suit your development stack.
Direct to service: https://dot.qrware.pl/
I’d love to hear your thoughts. <3
