He’s right. Idk why people don’t think we will be a 4 to 6 seed. We have probably one of the deepest teams in the league outside of OKC and San Antonio. Many of the teams they pick to be ahead of us have shit depth in comparison.

u/CNSrooster Archie Goodwin 3d ago
I agree, we should improve on last seasons record and standing and its very clear we are better on paper than we were.
But what if we dont finish with an improved record? Will Suns fans ask the tough questions to the right people i wonder? Or will they just go "we finished where we were predicted to finish" and excuse people again haha
•
u/Individual_Act9333 3d ago
If we don’t finish better it’s due to one of two things. Either we got hit with the injury bug like no other or Devin Booker didn’t play well enough imo. Honestly if Booker can bounce back and play like a top 10-12 player again I’d honestly say we are a contender but the past couple seasons makes me doubt that happening. Hes looked significantly slower on the court compared to if you look at older highlights. Being able to get to the charity stripe last year helped balance out his drop in scoring efficiency.
•
u/CNSrooster Archie Goodwin 3d ago
Im on the same page.
Im hoping he can elevate his game and be a top 10 player. The retool depends on it if he cant be that calibre of player we are wasting our time.
People arent ready for the discussions that need to be had if hes still not that player this season. Every year there are young players getting better passing him by
•
u/Individual_Act9333 3d ago
I’d personally call up the clippers and ask if they’d be willing to trade garland for green and maybe a first. I think garland has the type of mentality that would benefit Booker most. A pass first robin mentality. If not then book needs to become more aggressive playing at the one and green needs to dial back the amount of bad three pointers he attempts.
•
u/CNSrooster Archie Goodwin 3d ago
Booker is the PG, and I think thats what Book wants to be.
I think the FO has made that very clear the last few years. I dont think we will ever target a PG.
Also, I dont really see why Clipps would do that. Garland is better than Green and they will ne looking to treadmill for a couple of years.
•
u/Individual_Act9333 3d ago
I don’t mind him being the 1. I actually think he does a good job. My grievances with him playing the one is far too often I feel like he tries to be cp3 playing the PG position instead of Jalen Brunson playing the pg position and that’s unacceptable.
•
u/CNSrooster Archie Goodwin 3d ago
Im 100% with you on that.
He needs to be score first and stop being passive. The Blazers playin game was exhibit A of what not to be for Book as a PG. He shut up shop and differed to Green the entire 2nd half of that game and we lost a chance to dodge the Thunder.
•
u/Individual_Act9333 3d ago
Yea that pissed me off. He needs to realize he doesn’t need to support what his teammates do. His teammates need to support what he does. That’s how shoot first PGs thrive the most. If he is going to try and be CP3 then we are wasting our time because facilitating is not his best attribute.

I don't know.. I feel we should be better but we won a few games we shouldn't have last year so I don't feel confident bout actually getting more wins.
•
u/elitestripes 5h ago
People are really sleeping on our depth. We are 3-4 guys deep at every position. I think our ceiling is capped by our lack of high end talent. But I think we’re going to surprise a lot of people this year

Horry sucking up to Suns fans like he expects them to forget what he did to Nash
•
u/jcastillo602 2d ago
Has Nash ever commented on him and what he did? I feel like Nash would likely be a good sportsman about it and hold no bad feelings for Horry because Nash is just a class act.
Anyway. Fuck Robert Horry
•
u/sidepart Al McCoy 2d ago
Not really. Not much reason to, the hip check itself wasn't really the bad part beyond it being intentional. Didn't hurt Nash or take him out of subsequent games. The bad part was all the bullshit that followed. I recall Nash commenting that STAT and Diaw were coming over to check on him. Bell got an elbow to the neck. Nash was disgusted by the NBAs ruling. But I don't recall any personal comments regarding Horry.
Stu Jackson (dude that decided and defended the suspensions) was so full of fucking shit about the whole thing. I dislike Horry for this, but I loathe that guy. Dude must have had a massive hate boner against the SUNS. Talked about how clear cut the punishment was, how clear the rules were regarding leaving the bench. But then he was all equivocal about shit like Tim Duncan leaving the bench, or Spurs players leaving the bench in Game 4 claiming that incident wasn't an altercation so, no harm no foul!

I think Miles Bridges is going to have a surprising amount of impact. And Maluach or Rasheer take a step up, that's a huge gain to our frontcourt.

Horry's track record means his praise isn't nothing, but the Suns still have to earn it.

We moved to texas where there's obviously majority SA fans, whenever people ask me why do I hate the spurs so much I tell them about what this fucker did and I usually get a "oh ok" response like they understand. Fuck Robert Horry

There is a lot going on either way.
I think they improved the roster and with better health (JG), could be a much better team.
With that being said, a lot of the freebies wins we got will be harder to come by ( anti- tanking) and this team did not look great post allstar break with players regressing to their mean.
Hard to say if the Suns will be better or worse next year.

•
u/BaconKnight 3d ago
Fuck Robert Horry.
That said, I think we’ll be decent like last year. I would however pump the brakes on folks saying we’ll be a 4-6 seed (6 I can believe, but West is still competitive, especially towards the top to mid, hard to break into top 5).
On the other hand, I think it’s telling that it’s very possible for us to be the 2nd best team in our Pacific Division. Despite all the fuck ups our team did, we’re still somehow in a better position than the Kings, Clippers and Warriors. Kinda funny if you think about it.

u/PeekedInMiddleSchool Devin Booker 3d ago
I put $10 on 50+ wins for the suns just for shits and giggles. I have a little hope, but fuck it, we ball
•
u/toxiccherrybomb Devin Booker 3d ago
Yeah, we always end up with a better record than expected, then we can’t do diddly in playoffs.
•
•
u/Round_Lychee_7105 1d ago
PHX still needs a starting distributor. Booker is not a PG and is doing less by playing in that role.
Could they get Jrue from PDX? That would be an interesting pickup for them. Give up Jalen Green for him and you got the scorer they need off the bench?
