[Suggestion] what PCs are good these days

Okay, I've decided as a family to get a PC. But to be realistic, I only I begged for it because I wanted to use it for gaming. But I told my dad that it could also be used for other stuff. So, we've decided to get a PC for the family . But, um, my dad said that like the max he'll pay is like 2K$ but if I could find something that's sub 1k it'd be great . So I'm thinking what should I do? I'm not really into PCs like that. So, I don't know. What do you think would be easier to, like, build a PC or just buy a pre-built? And if it's to buy a pre-built, like, what's the best PC to buy so I won't have to upgrade for a while?
