Mobile issue: stickers not printing

Upvotes

Anyone else have this issue during peak today or just us? Mobile drink stickers just sometimes wouldn't print, like at all. Would just automatically go to in progress. So customers are getting notified their drink is ready after 5 minutes or so, our screen says "in progress" and bar baristas never saw the sticker.

Policy Question Fired several months after infraction??!

Upvotes

6.5 year partner/ shift manager here. This morning I was promptly fired for opening the store late. ( for context, I work at a Union store so we haven’t gotten the point system, and I was already on a final due to this happening several months prior ) The most recent incident, due to transportation reasons I ended up opening the store 8 minutes after open. This was over a month ago, and in that span of time I was never talked to about it or given any warning or notice. Is there anything I can do about this considering the gap of action? Legal or through corporate. All in all I was fired over roughly 12$ worth of potentially missed mobile orders. As much as this job is painful, it was my financial backbone and a termination is detrimental to my living situation.

😠 Rant 😠 Called out sick but my manager still wants me to come in

Upvotes

I’ve been throwing up all night with some kind of stomach bug and called out at about 5:30 am. I was the closing SSV for today and my manager is still asking me to come in later bc he scheduled all other SSVs to be working peak and has no one else (but himself) to replace me.

Like sir I literally am throwing up every hour or so and you want me to come in?!? Not doing that! You know it’s policy that I can’t come in after throwing up. I’m miserable this morning and that just irritates me. I gave them plenty of time as well to figure out coverage as my shift didn’t start till 11:30

Recipe Question Question for starb veterans

Upvotes

So I love a Starbucks and my go to order is a small caramel macchiato. Sometimes it’s mixed perfectly from the first sip but sometimes like today it’s not as good or all glooped at the bottom. So my question is do I need to say something when I order or am I just unlucky by who is making it?

😠 Rant 😠 Had the worst chai today 💔

Upvotes

Mostly annoyed and want to rant but I’m not super upset since she seemed like a new hire/was alone.

I was in a mall and they had one of those corner Starbucks bars and I got a iced pumpkin cream chai. Simple order, no add ins or substitutions. From the get go she seemed confused on what drink it was exactly and took a few minutes to get it in the register.

Nothing about that bothered me but it was the first red flag 🥲. I was just talking with my mom while we waited for our chais when I noticed she was making the drink slightly odd. Like pouring in random stuff even after it was finished. I could see from afar from where I was sitting and internally thinking “oh?”.

Once we got our drinks i noticed the chai was really dark and assumed maybe it was extra chai and less milk. However after I had my first sip i realized it was coffee and somehow nothing tasted like pumpkin, not even the foam? Honestly the drink tasted like nothing but burnt coffee and coffee is good whatever I could work with it but it was a really burnt somehow sour coffee.

I felt bad and just kept drinking it and decided to not make a fuss cause again, she seemed young and was alone. I’m not upset at her just the situation and most especially who left her out there alone! Super messed up, I wonder if smaller franchise stores are run worse 😔.

Being scheduled at another store

Upvotes

I know managers can schedule you outside of your availability but can they schedule you at another store without telling you? In a couple weeks I’m scheduled at another store which honestly isn’t a problem because it’s closer to home than my store but I’m just a little confused and maybe a little bit ticked (probably because I’m tired).

I know my manager is trying to give me the hours I want/am asking for and I very much appreciate that and I will absolutely work those hours because honestly, it’s no problem but I feel like asking or a heads up would’ve kind of been nice.

Points System and Cutting Labor

Upvotes

If any ASMS or SMs can answer one question I have, that would be great. Earlier I had to cut a barista after he'd thrown up in our BOH. { He reported it to our ASM and to myself before I told him to go home and recover. }

He said that our ASM had informed us that she won't be able to let him use some of his sick time { which would be an hour and some minutes to make up for the remainder of his shift } and he texted me, asking if he would get hit with points.

Can I get some insight and some help?

Policy Question Change to transfers?

Upvotes

Hi, 2 year partner looking to transfer about 7 hours away for school. I've told my plan to my SM for a year now, last week when I asked her how we get the process started she basically told me they changed how it works recently andI have to figure it out myself and submit an application (not transfer request) and be rehired essentially. Is this true?? If it makes a difference, I'm in Michigan. I've tried to find info about this in partner resources and here in the Reddit but I've not found anything that says this is the case? Is my SM bsing me?? If there has been a change, could anyone give me an actual detailed idea of how to go about transferring this way. My SM has not been helpful or clear at all.

Signature vs Blonde Espresso

Upvotes

I had heard before that the blonde espresso roast contains more caffeine per shot than the signature espresso. When I order a quad shot iced latte using the signature espresso, the nutrition facts show 225 mg of caffeine. When I customize the order to the blonde roast, it still shows 225 mg of caffeine.

Do they contain the same amount of caffeine? Is the app just not calculating the blonde correctly?

SM Transfer

Upvotes

I am a previous partner and am thinking about returning. I had a SM offer and declined a couple of years ago. My question is if I accept an SM offer, how quickly can I transfer if I need to move? Wanting to move within a year but wasn’t sure if there was a cut off time line. Thank you!

😠 Rant 😠 What's the deal with not putting coffee stirrers out???

Upvotes

Sorry but this is ridiculous! I just heard that Starbucks stores are not allowed to put coffee stirrers out with the sugars and milk? How are we supposed to stir it? Ask for a stirrer every time? What a waste of time for customers and barristas!

Drink Recipes/Recommendations Starbucks drinks that are ACTUALLY good?

Upvotes

Tbh, I don’t like Starbucks, my preference is Dunkin but for my commute to work, getting Starbucks is easier. I usually get the Mocha (iced or hot) and for a while I enjoyed it, but now I’m not sure if they changed the syrup, no matter which Starbucks I go to the noch a always tastes awful. Like I’d rather have the caffeine headache and throw away my $7 instead of drinking it.

My problem with Starbucks is that the coffee always tastes burnt and has a weird aftertaste, usually from Dunkin I love getting the iced Dunkalatte as I like the taste of coffee when it’s not super bitter. Does anyone have recommendations?

I’ve tried the iced brown sugar oat milk drink, I didn’t like it and thought it tasted like a candle. I’ve tried the blonde coffee to try and make it taste less bitter but no dice. I like coffee, and the random little coffee shops I sometimes go to I always order a mocha at as my go to drink and it’s always good. Starbucks mocha now tastes like literal dirt. Some genuine recommendations would be great.

Edit:
My god this got a lot of comments 😭
This is a problem I’ve had for a while, I’ve tried doing the blonde espresso, I’ve tried white mocha shots, and I’ve less/more mocha syrup.
Honestly I’m not looking to fix my mocha order I just want a better tasting coffee. A lot of the time recently the drink is just genuinely gross and tastes almost expired, like a rotten aftertaste

Food & Drink Review The Banana Bread Chai is SO bad

Thought it'd be good but the banana is SO overpowering and tastes SOOOO artificial, almost like medicine.....

Birthday Cake Pops- tasted like Play-doh

Upvotes

I haven't had cake pops for a long time and just bought 2 today as a treat. They are so expensive so I don't buy them often anymore. It has been months.

Once I start eating them I notice they taste different. I thought maybe I had one that was a bit off so I tried the second one. Both of them looked perfectly fine and tasted sweet but had an underlying flavor of like what I would call Play-doh. They tasted how Play-Doh smells basically.

I'm talking about the pink birthday cake pops. I know this is not how they usually taste. I wonder if this is just a weird batch that I got my hands on or has this been something new? Have they changed the formula?

Did anybody else have this experience recently?

Drink Recipes/Recommendations International Starbucks menu items

Upvotes

Did Starbucks ever try featuring menu items from one country in different countries? Things like Sakura or red bean drinks or related pastries or food items for example.

Just wondering because I would think it could be popular to have maybe one month out of the year that features a few items from other countries where they aren’t normally sold. There could even be a marketing buildup around which country or countries is being featured each particular year.

But I’ve never seen them trying anything like that so I’m wondering if they did early on and it failed or possibly if there are legal bureaucratic issues tied to offering items from other countries.
