Q&A Prepping some food for next weeks faceoff!

We run a weekly tailgate-focused show in Michigan where we break down regional food culture across football. We're putting together our tailgate menu for the Oklahoma game and want to make sure we represent Norman properly on the grates and in the lots.

What are the staples at your lots outside Memorial Stadium? Is smoked bologna actually king, or are there lesser-known favorites we should throw in the smoker?

Also, if anyone traveling needs recommendations on parking, butcher shops for local sausage, or spots around town, fire away!

For real Oklahoma food you want  biscuits and gravy for breakfast. Then a friend onion burger for lunch. And chicken fried steak for dinner.

That being said, if it must be smoked, then smoked bologna is a good choice but so are ribs, brisket, and pork

You know honestly growing up a Sooner with my whole family living in Norman, and living in Tulsa for a decade as well... neither I nor anyone I knew about the fried onion burgers. I certainly hadn't heard of them until they started popping up on social media, but maybe we just weren't paying attention.

The one thing I truly miss since leaving Norman would be Del Rancho's chicken fried steak sandwich. Those were amazing.

Those sound like three great options! Smoked bologna sounds unique to me, i'm much more of a ribs/brisket and pulled pork fan myself.

A smoked bologna sandwich is top tier poverty food, good stuff.

I’ll eat smoke bologna with muenster cheese and clubs crackers too.

I actually didn’t know smoked bologna was an Oklahoma thing, I thought it was anywhere in America bbq, I’ve grown up eating it here so it makes sense. But yeah you taught me something new today.

Smoked bologna is criminally underrated. Whole log on the smoker, thick slices, white bread, done. Y'all are in for a treat.
