I noticed a weird, gelatinous form on my snailās head. Itās a wild caught, likely Allogona sp., from Riggins, ID that Iāve kept in a terrarium since May 2025. I have had no other snails in the terrarium but just noticed a new one crawling around today after noticing the head goop on my original. Not aware of land snails keeping eggs on their head, but I do have tons of isopods in the tank that would certainly love snail eggs.

Hello everyone, I just found this snail last night after a storm. Iām based here in North Florida, so Iām wondering if itās a Giant African Land Snail or maybe a bulimulus guadalupensis.
All help and advice is appreciated. Thank you!

In my original post I wondered if my Allogona sp. snail might be pregnant or diseased after noticing some weird, gelatinous goop on top of its head as well as a new snail-mate. After closer inspection you can definitely tell the other snail isnāt the same species and the head goop retracted?? Completely disappeared. Is this normal? I saw another Reddit post that talked about head swelling being a sign of snail puberty (snuberty).

The most adventurous little snail I have ever had, she was the greatest escape artist despite the tank being sealed shut. Unfortunately she hurt herself too badly in her latest escape and she had to be put to sleep :(
i have lost one of my beloved snails
is it possible for snails to pass without any external factors?
i have 2 snails in separate tanks much older than the one who passed.
the one who passed had a tank mate who seems healthy, i am going to swap him into a separate tank completely incase it is contaminated or external factors that caused his death.
i give all my snails the same care with access to cuttlebone and mainly frozen peas carrot broccoli and fresh vegetables when possible.
we recently went from 20degrees to 35degrees within 4 days here in australia, this may be a factor?
i think he was also my youngest snail
he was sluggish and not very reactive last night but still alive, i left him to be and when i picked him up and smelt him today he had that pungent scent i have only read about and always dreaded to smell.
when i cleaned him he was still limp but the smell was unmistakableš
any advice or experiences would be appreciated i am very sad
photo is the species š
TIA

Hello everyone! Can you please help me? My achatina snail hides inside shell and doesnāt come out. It has a wet fine terrarium with soil. She hasnt been eating for the last 4 days. I donāt know much about snails and am really worried about it. Maybe itās because it is September and the weather has become colder?

I often find myself wishing my snails could enjoy the food I like, and I get sad I canāt share it with them
Like bread! I wish they could eat bread
-pasta
-popcorn
-pizza
-mashed potatoes
Edit to add
-budalk noodles
And
-tacos
Mostly bread like I feel like itās unfair they donāt get to try toast or garlic bread or rolls of any kind
Does anyone else feel this way? I just wanna share all the yummy food I make with them lol

Hi everyone,
Iām worried about one of my snails. Heās been sleeping a lot lately despite regular misting, and he now sleeps deep inside his shell, when he used to sleep with his head out. You can see right inside the shell rim in the picture.
Yesterday morning I woke him up, he explored for about an hour, then went back to sleep and hasnāt moved since. I donāt think he has eaten.
Something else worries me: since June, his foot grips less and less when he sleeps up high, and he falls from the ceiling of the enclosure almost every day. I recently changed the substrate (I was using peat, I switched to coco fibre) and he always has access to calcium.
My 2 other snails in the same enclosure are doing perfectly fine.
Has anyone come across this before?

Sorry if this isn't the right subreddit but I'm desperate, I need this information for some very specific writing I'm in the middle of. I've tried googling but all I've gotten so far are terms for a snail's shell or stuff about skincare via snails, nothing concrete for what the skin (exterior layer of the soft bits) itself is called.
Any help would be appreciated!

Soo, I got this snail 3 weeks ago, I was TOLD he was a garden brown snail, but he formed some āteethā in the entrance of his shell, so Iām not sure anymore. Brown garden snails do not typically have those. Anyone have an idea of the id?
found in northern VA.

so, I recently noticed that my snail has a couple white pieces in its shell (as shown), and they are solid and connected. Iām assuming they are a normal occurrence to shell growth, but Iāve just been wondering if they might affect him or if they are normal. He is about 3 months old and he is a brown garden snail.

Hello ! i have 3 common garden snails, located in Utah. i have them housed in a 10 gallon tank & i've been using Eco Earth for their substrate. i do have a temp & humidity reader in the tank so i can make sure it's ideal for them. but i noticed 2 of my snails have a little bit of peeling on their shells & are turning white. i've looked into this a little bit & it sounds like it could be from the substrate being too acidic ? so i would like to maybe change the substrate but im getting a LOT of mixed answers when i look into this lol so any advice would be appreciated š
