BOSTON — For Seattle Storm guard and Dorchester native Taina Mair, there truly is no place like home.

A huge part of Mair's basketball foundation was laid at Roxbury Prep Middle School, where she was welcomed home to on Friday.

"This is where the seed began to get watered," said Mair.

That led to a full ride at Boston College, an impactful three years at Duke University, and eventually, the 14th overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft.

State Representative Chris Worrell presented an official State House citation, and Boston City Councilor Brian Worrell presented a proclamation, declaring September 4 "Taina Mair Day" in the city of Boston.

"I am so grateful," said Mair. "I don't even have the words to describe it."

For Mair, it is bigger than basketball. She wants her journey to inspire the youth in whatever path they choose.

Anyone going to both games today? I feel like they should set up a sports shuttle between the arena and stadium 😀

My girlfriend’s feeling sick, so I have an extra ticket for today’s game. I wasn’t able to find a friend who was both interested and free this afternoon, so I’m going to give it away.

In order to give more people a chance at it, I’m going to be using a lottery for this. Comment below by 12-o-clock today to enter into the lottery; shortly after noon, I’ll randomly select a username and DM them for the email address to send the ticket to. If anyone has had issues this season with the Kraken/CPA app, specifically trying to access their free transit ticket, after many many many emails back and forth with the nice folks at the Kraken, there is finally a solution. (If this doesn't work for you, you can email mobile@seattlekraken.com).

"You may have a default app set for the Storm app that is interacting with how both the Kraken app and Storm app are communicating with Ticketmaster.  We’re planning on reaching out to Ticketmaster about this as well because this is a poor experience. 

In the phone’s main settings, tap on Apps -> Storm -> Defaults -> Tap the Clear button under Open by Default

Then when you open the Kraken app and go to login to your Storm Ticketmaster account, you should get prompted with an Open With option where you can say the Kraken app just once."

I am trying to get my friend to join for a game, and wheelchair accessible seating is SOOOOO expensive! anyone got any pro tips about buying a cheaper ticket, but still finding a spot to post up in a chair and watch?

for example, all the $30 tickets for this Sunday‘s ticket deal are non-accessible — the only accessible seats left are $116. could we pay a $30 and then watch from somewhere else?

The Seattle Storm have an abundance of young talent but are missing a primary playmaker. Flau’jae is a great talent but it’s clear she isn’t a PG and more suited to play SG. Heidemen is more of a combo guard and Melbourne hasn’t proven to be starting caliber yet. Flau’jae, Dom and Awa would greatly benefit from a primary playmaker to help elevate their games. Remember what happened to A’ja Wilson and the Aces once they got Chelsea Gray?

The Storm are primed for a top pick in the upcoming 2027 draft but there aren’t any elite playmakers at the top of the draft (Hidalgo is more of a SG in a PGs body). Which is why I think the Storm should target Natasha Cloud as a Free Agency signing.

Cloud is a veteran PG with championship experience. She’s 8th all time in assists and is still playing at a high level with Chicago this season despite being on the older side. She’s a free agent in the offseason and Chicago being the dumpster fire it is could easily lose her. I think she would fit in Seattle not only on the basketball side but culturally as well being one of the most outspoken advocates in the league.

We need a vet like Tash to lead the young’ins and help build winning habits. I think she should be Seattles top Free Agency target.
