My family is visiting Germany and we had an issue with one listing so looking for others. My mom found this place with a “contact before listing” and the host wanted her to email her to book. Does this seem fishy?

Was stopped on the street by someone asking to deposit their check so they can get the money. When asked why, they said they were in the negative and needed the full check amount for child support, and he gave $40 'for my troubles.' I knew it didn't feel right, but I guess I am just some sort of idiot, and I'm now out $980 dollars soon enough. I know I won't ever get that money back, but what should I do now? I'm just worried my bank account will be closed, so I'll be opening a new account, and I assume contacting Citibank fraud department is a good step as well. Any advice, thank you.

I've seen a fair share of scams on discord, but I've never seen something like this. I'll be honest, I did almost fall for this since the server this message was sent in was pretty small, and I have no idea if it was sent in other servers before this one.

Out of curiosity I messaged the person about it, the first thing they asked me was "Why do you want this PC?" Which was already kinda sketchy, but I just simply said "Because my current PC is from 2007" 💔.

Afterwards they asked me where I was located, to which I asked "Hold on, are you gonna charge me for this?" And they ended up avoiding the question entirely.

That's when I started getting pretty suspicious, but just to see what would happen, I told him the state I live in and nothing more. They then started getting pretty desperate for my exact address after I only told them the state, and at that point I just decided to block them.

So, is this a new scam on discord? Or has this been going around for awhile?

At 9am in the morning I received a call from a no caller ID of this guy asking if I was available on Friday or Saturday and I assumed it was my workplace so I said yes and then he asked me if I was someone else as my voice sounded different and then I got confused

Turns out he was asking to meet so he could hook up and the person gave the wrong number which was mine, then proceeded to ask me if they gave the wrong number because he was “small” like wtf who even are you

I just ended the call but it was super creepy I’m wondering if this was a genuine mix up or a scam of some sort he technically has my number and I tried to block the no caller ID but there was no option for it

Unfortunately, I fell for a scam by a discord trading callout server. He said he had opened a BTC long position and had hit his limit, so he couldn’t add any more hedges to save his position. He asked me to send him some crypto and said he would Zelle me back with extra money too. It sounded too good to be true, but I fell for it because he had made some good calls that day in his server.
I sent him $2,700 USDC, but every time I asked for my money back, he kept asking me to send more. When I mentioned it in his server chat, he removed me.

It uses Epic/Fortnite branding and the line “Official Epic OAuth • Fully secure.” It tells you it will price your skins and let you “earn” from the account. Epic’s own help page says they do not support any locker-value website. Real Epic login only happens on epicgames.com.

The domain was registered 2 September 2026. Same scam pattern as other locker-checker sites that steal Epic accounts.

If you already synced: change your Epic password on epicgames.com, turn on 2FA, check linked platforms, and submit a ticket at epicgames.com/help.

Now, we’ve already got the most of this handled, I think. I have an elderly neighbour and he seems to have been a victim of a gift card scam from someone claiming to be his bank, from what I can tell. They’ve called him a few times and he’s now realised that they’ve taken upwards of £7000 from him. He is speaking to the bank’s fraud team as we speak. This is not the first time he’s fallen victim to a scam of sorts. I was mostly wondering if any of you knew of any handy informational sheets that we could print out for him to set beside his phone as he lives alone and we can’t protect him if a scammer does call.

We’re worried about his memory, so I’m looking for something bright, vibrant, easy to read, and easy to understand, that would instruct him to hang up and call the bank, but none of the sheets I’ve found so far have the particular scam that he’s been a victim of listed on them, and the booklet from Age UK isn’t really something that will catch your eye, nor do I imagine he would be able navigate it with ease should a scammer get him on the line. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

I found a 5 year old thread with this topic, but it's closed and no one ever had an answer. I'm hoping maybe now someone does have an answer because this situation is freaking me out! Although, weirdly, it made me feel better to know it's happening to other people...

Here's what happens: Whenever I call a legitimate banking number (both my credit card company and an investment firm I use), I end up with a "missed call" notification. But my phone never rang during the call! It's clearly a spam call, but I don't even know when they called during the call I was on with my actual banking company.

Since I don't even hear the call happen, I've never answered one and they never leave a voice mail. So why is it showing up? Why are they calling?

I'm on a Google Pixel 7a (many of the people in the older thread seemed to be on Pixel phones) and I have anti-virus software on it. When I run a scan, it doesn't show any viruses.

I guess what I'm wondering is, technologically, can this mystery "missed call" somehow be tapping into my phone during my conversation with my legitimate bank and hearing the information I give them to verify my identity? Is this a thing? Is there a way spam phone numbers can listen in on your phone calls if they call while you're on the line with someone else?

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this. Mostly when you search up "spam calls during banking phone calls" you just get info on regular spam calls, like the kind that you can block. Not these "missed call" notifications that show up during a regular banking call and I never even have the option of blocking them because they never actually ring.

I am able to block them in my call history after the fact, but since it's a different number every time I call a financial company, that seems hopeless.

My grandpa is in his early 80s. Physically, he’s in incredible shape. His mind is staring to slow a bit, but he’s still able to pull off solo world travel and live on his own. My grandma passed a little over a year ago, and this nightmare started almost immediately after.

He gets the “wrong number” texts that we all get, but the difference with him is that he keeps the conversation going with the scammers. When they start pushing him to “invest” or to send them money, he makes up an excuse about asking a family member who has a financial background and they tend to drop it and stop talking to him/block him.

He downloaded WhatsApp at the request of one of the scammers, and at any given time I’d say he has 5-7 of these conversations going. He sends them pictures of what he’s doing, tells them when he’s traveling out of town. He’s even sent pictures with me and my husband to them, which I had to put my foot down on him about. My husband and I have both had conversations with him about this being a bad idea, but every time he claims he knows they’re fake and is just screwing with them. Still, it seems like nearly all his free time is spent messaging these leech scammers. I especially don’t like how much information he’s given them on himself, especially his comings and goings. What can I do? To my knowledge, no financial loss has happened yet, but I feel like he’s encouraging them to keep pushing by engaging with them.

I ws in Rio, bought a quijo coalho from a street vendor. I wasn't aware of this scam otherwise I would have paid cash at the beach always. Instead of R$15 it was R$10308. #1 I didn't know of this scam, #2 I didn't know google pay would have allowed me to pay that amount #3 never speaking to these vendors again.

I filed a police report, have a picture with the quijo at the time of the transaction. For my bank it is not enough evidence since they need a picture of the menu or the price that you agree on and apparently my evidence is not enough. Does someone know or have a picture that shows R$15 for quijo coalho? Only chance I have for my bank.

I fell for an advanced fee scam (never even heard of it until after this happened) and lost a few hundred while also giving them my full name, school, and address (stupid i know). I’m a full-time undergrad student and the money consisted of gifts I had saved from my aging mother who isn’t employed but does a lot of hard work/manual labor here and there to make extra money for my siblings and I.

I had always believed that I am hyper-vigilant about these kinds of things but somehow, this one slipped through. I haven’t told anyone in my life about it, and I will never tell my parents as to not burden them, but I feel so ashamed. I struggle to sleep and I wake up everyday thinking about it and spend all my time hating myself for being so stupid. I keep looking at the messages and I feel traumatized. I now refuse to spend money on anything else in my life, including things I know are necessities. The item I was trying to get was a piece of musical equipment I would never be able to afford on my own, and I haven’t played music since or tried to buy any equipment because it reminds me too much of my terrible mistake and I almost feel like I should be punishing myself. I’m also paranoid to the point where I have convinced myself that they will use the knowledge of my address to hurt me.

I have somewhat accepted that I can’t recover the money. It was sent through CashApp and paid through bitcoin, which I now know is impossible to reverse. I have stopped replying since realizing this, but they are continuing to text, checking up on my day and now they have asked if they should cancel the shipping. I am certain this is another scam but I can’t help but have hope that I could guilt them into refunding me my money by responding, although I know that isn’t likely. I know this is another way to continue the scam and that these people already don’t have any empathy, so me asking for my money back wouldn’t work. I also know other people have gone through worse and that ultimately I need to get over it, but I can’t fight the feeling so easily.

I guess I used this post to vent openly but I need some kind of advice or reassurance to recover emotionally. Is there anything beneficial that could come out of me replying or am I being delusional because of my state of emotional distress? I already understand what I did was so incredibly stupid and will probably never stop beating myself up about it so please be kind.

I have a pretty uncommon first + last name. Today I received a legitimate booking confirmation for a room at a hotel in Times Square, with check-in TODAY and checkout tomorrow, under my name. My gmail address contains a period between my first and last name but the booking was sent to the same address without the period.
Since gmail ignores periods it came directly to me.
I happened to be going to Times Square today, so l stopped by the hotel and confirmed the reservation is real.

I'm aware of two people in other states with my exact name so I suspect he either accidentally entered my email or has a similar address. Still, the combination of my uncommon name and a same day NYC hotel booking is bizarre.

The hotel seems to think it was a bizarre coincidence. I have no strange charges and they just appear to have signed up on this third party booking website with the wrong email that came to me. The coincidence of it all is spooking me a bit.

EDIT: he made another booking today using the same website so I called the new hotel and let them know what was going on. They called him. He didn’t answer. I texted him because there is a phone number this time on the booking and he never responded. I do think that it is a strange coincidence because the area code matches the area code of one of the guys that has my exact name. I still feel really weird about it though. He also checked out of the other hotel and paid with his own card so I really don’t know what the endgame would be if it were a scam of some kind.

They quickly said they would deliver so we set a date for delivery. Every day for week they kept saying they were delivering it and never did. They would message saying "did my delivery driver arrive today?". But surely they would know... I haven't given my full address, just the road. So it would not be possible for a delivery driver to drop it off without contacting me to ask which house I am at.

I don't understand whether I am being scammed, or what sort of operation they have going on if it is a scam. Has anyone heard of anything like this? They also won't pick up the phone.

My wife received a strange voicemail today from what seems to be an obvious scam. It had to deal with an Amazon purchase we allegedly made and how it couldn't be delivered to an address Ive never heard of, along with a fake UPS tracking number. We verified on Amazon that there had been no purchases, just to make sure.

A few hours later, I noticed I had an e-mail related to that voicemail. Oddly enough though, it had 3 of my personal e-mails CC'd on it (2 which I havent used in about 20 years), my sister's email, and my old work e-mail from about 2 years ago.

I have zero idea how a scammer could have gotten all of this information. My wife has nothing tied to any of my emails, and my sister definitely doesnt. Nothing at all has any ties to my old work e-mail for a company that no longer even exists.

Im mainly curious 1. How they could have gotten all of this information, and 2. What could the scam even be?

Someone else made a post a few days ago on the same thing a few days ago, and I commented my experience on there, but since then I’ve been getting multiple calls a day from different “people” all with the same premise.

A few days ago I received a call from a man who said his name was Matt or something who said he had a missed call from my number. I never called of course, so I just hung up and moved on.

I also had some missed calls yesterday from a different number, but no voicemail or anything so I knew whoever it was and whatever they were calling for wasn’t important.

Then just now I’ve received ANOTHER phone call, this time from a lady you said she was Vanessa. Again with the “I’ve received a phone call from you” and no outgoing call from me. Of course I hung up immediately. This time she left a voicemail saying the same thing.

Has my number been spoofed? That’s what I’m assuming at this point. Either that or any number has ended up on someone’s list and they’re using the missed call premise as some over the phone wrong number scam, but I’ve only ever seen that as texts.

My work has me answering lots of calls from numbers that I don’t have saved, so ignoring them isn’t really an option, but of course I hang up immediately. They’re all coming from different numbers too, which I block after every call. Any way to stop this or do I just need to wait it out?

Edit: here is the story of how i got scammed I meet this woman on a app she wanted me to become her sugar baby and i agreed when she wanted to Transfer the money into my paypal aparently it didn't work since hers was a business account and mine was a private user account so she send me what apprently her Assistent send her which was that the payment is on hold and will need like 75 or 25$ fee to be transferned where i needed to create a business account which i did. Then the Personal Assistent told me that i needed to pay the fee somehow with apple gift card and he would manage and do the stuff. After it was too late and i already send the 100€ one since it had to be a 100€ one acording to him i did once again reverse search the picture of the woman on Google image and unlike before where I used a Website it came up with a tiktok account with the exact same pictures. I didnt confront them yet and all. Thats the whole story.

• The categories range from singing and dancing all the way to Rubik's cube speed-solving and LEGO exhibits.

• They claim a final show at city but its 3 weeks to go and there is no city. There has been no updates to this site in 3 months

  I was having my kid getting ready for it for a month until I was about to register I got suspicious.

Can someone confirm its scammy and what i do before it get worse? I sent it to 100 people in the last month before i started the payment process i realized this its very fishy. In the talent industry of this nature there would need to be a social. None exists.

Monday morning I messaged 2 Vivastreet escorts on WhatsApp asking what services they give as my wife recently passed and I wanted to try anything not to be alone, I received no responses from any of them

Later Monday I received a SMS with my full name saying if I didn't give him 400 he would bring his boys and kill me as he knows all of my details, unbeknownst to me my WhatsApp has my full name on it so that explains how he got my name, he rang me 7 times with a woman saying she was the one I wasted the time of, and that he was on his way with a license plate saying to look out because that will be him and his boys.

Is there anyway he can gather my address or other information simply with my full name and phone number? No money has been exchanged no conversations with any personal details, my phone is also brand new to me with a new contract so if he tried to get my info from brokers would that fail?

Can't be real, but I'm curious if anybody knows how these work? Are they committing some kind of fraud using your bank account or PayPal information? Are they having you watch a bunch of ads and then not paying you?

How do these free cash apps work? It can be tempting to sign up because, let's say give them My bank account information.

They can't withdraw money from my bank account, right? Would they do something like sending me a deposit, asking for a refund, then recalling the deposit and keeping the transfer I sent? Does anybody have any experience with this type of scam?

Today I ordered an Uber for my mother to pick her up and bring her to my place. I chose cash payment in the app. When the taxi arrived to my mother, the first thing the driver asked her was “how much her phone shows that this ride will cost” so my mother told him what I saw in the app. Then they started to drive, but the uber driver didn’t press the “start button” on his app so the whole time it “seemed” like my mother was waiting there for the uber to come, while they were really already on the way to me. The problem is that once the trip ended, the driver cancelled the order and the uber system sent another taxi to the original pickup address, which we had to cancel manually. Our theory is that the driver knew he was getting cash, he didn’t want to pay taxes after it so he made it look like the trip never even found place cause it was cancelled by him.

The problem is that I cannot find a way to report this, when I try to file a report it goes against the second driver that was mistakenly ordered again to the original pickup place and probably has no clue what’s going on. Does anyone have an idea how to report this normally where I can also write this in detail and not just pick from pre-written menu points? Thanks a lot.

i recently got hacked/scammed for crypto on axiom i transferred some money from coinbase where i had the majority of my money and the hacker told me to install a “tracker“ on axiom and i did then clicked on it and a text file opened then i copy pasted that into axiom then they told me to open a link called lunartool or something and add it to my chrome bookmarks and then i went on axiom and clicked the bookmark and my money disappeared. i don’t know what’s at risk but i locked my coinbase account and am thinking of resetting windows. any help?
