Best houseguest ever!
We have a mini staying with us for a few weeks (the two standards are residents). They really are the exact same breed. They all play in the exact same way. My two females (mini and parti) has made up their own game using my wheelchair ramp and a ball. That game has rules to it that they have somehow communicated to each other and they both follow. I keep falling in love with this breed over and over.

I have yet to meet a mini in the wild (I have a standard), but even in the toy form, the poodles my pup has met play very similarly - they just don’t have the size or stamina.

In my area there are more minis than standards and toys! They are the most common size. I would definitely consider a mini in the future after knowing this little lady though. I have only known ones that haven’t been mentally stimulated enough in the past. Our male’s breeder told me something about poodles that has always stuck with me. She said “If you don’t make fun for your dog, they will find their own fun, and you won’t like it!”. Most of the minis that I have met fall into that category. This little lady’s owner is an amazing owner though.

It is actually the cutest thing ever. One of them takes a ball to the top. The other one waits at the bottom. The one at the top drops the ball so that it rolls down the ramp. Once it gets to about halfway down, they both race to see who can get the ball first. Whoever gets the ball first, then goes to the top of the ramp to drop the ball again.

Theyre so smart!! I love how winning means you get to drop the ball next. They did not just invent a game, they built a complete fair play system. That is so sweet!!!

I have been around dogs my entire life. This is the only breed that I have ever been around that can make up an entire game with rules included. They freak me out sometimes with their intelligence!
