Merle poodles are no longer allowed on this sub

Upvotes

Moving forward, poodles with Merle coloring are not permitted on this sub. Merle coloring is a byproduct of mixing Australian Shepards into a poodle line. A poodle with Merle coloring by definition cannot be AKC papered without outright lying. Breeding for color is nothing new for poodles, but in this circumstance it comes with the possibility of introducing myriad health issues, and is an irresponsible practice at best. It is not good for the breed, it is dangerous to the dogs. We cannot in good conscience allow the promotion of this Poodles with this genetic trait, beautiful or not.

NOTICE: IT'S A T-SHIRT POST? IT'S A SCAM! (Same with coffee mugs, etc) T-SHIRT POSTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ANYMORE

Upvotes

Several times per day there are scammers who post here, showing a t-shirt or similar product, and then another scammer in the comments asks, "Where did you get it?" A link to a scam website is posted for everyone to follow, provide their personal info and credit card, then wonder how their identity got stolen.

Just like a Parti Poodle, it's very black-and-white. If you see a post sharing a t-shirt design, mouse pad, coffee mug, etc. IT IS A SCAM, and the quickest way to get your account banned is to reply, "Where can I get one", "I love it, do you have a link?" or something similar.

Here are the rules:

  1. Posts of t-shirts or other personalized items with dogs are prohibited. If you post one, you will get banned.
  2. Anyone who replies to the post and asks about acquiring the item will be banned.
  3. If you see a post like this, hit the report button, that's the easiest way to get our attention and we will remove the post and ban those involved.
  4. Do not contribute, do not call them out, just don't post at all. Hit the report button.

It seems every time something like this is posted, more than one of our users fall for it, then they are asking moderators, "What did I do to get banned?" You responded to a scammer, which makes you look like you're on their team. Just stop.

5/14/2026 - Scams: 1, Users who fell for it: 1, post was up for 23 minutes before being removed.

Want to get a second dog. Do we go standard?

Upvotes

We currently have a toy poodle. He is 10 months old and we (myself, husband and 4 kids) are just obsessed with him. We’ve been floating the idea of a second dog in the next year or two. I think we’d want to go with a standard poodle. My husband really wants a big dog but also has allergies and does well with poodles.

My questions are: is there a best age to introduce our toy poodle to a new dog? And is the size difference between a toy and standard too much? Or will they be ok?

She’s 11 weeks old. I got her sister, Rosie Cotton,2 years ago and happened by the breeder today and had to grab her when I saw her. I was considering Poppy to stick with the flower theme or Goldberry to stick with the Lord of the rings theme. I’ve also been considering Scarlet and BellaDonna. Thoughts or suggestions please

I love my Djinn so much ♥️

Its funny to think that when I got him 2 years ago I cried because I didn't think I could love him as much as my other dog, Koda.

I used to laugh at my mum and tell her her dog was "just a dog," and then I got my boys. Oh how wrong i was.

They are my babies and my reason for getting out of bed everyday ♥️ sorry for spamming him all the time 😅

Coming up this Friday, my baby is getting neutered but I am having second thoughts about it! I seen other intact Spoo and I’ve been thinking about it… and I know it’s the responsible thing to do!

What is your experience? Tips for post-ops and if your spoo is fixed or not. Also, His roommate is an 8 year old intact Husky (not my dog) will that cause issues???

Puppy is finally cuddly!

Post image
Upvotes

I was so worried my mini puppy wasn't going to be cuddly because he was just so zoned in on toys and being busy until about 2 months ago (he's about 16 months). He has become so sweet and cuddly!

We definitely did pick him up to force him to cuddle for like a minute or two before letting him go when he was wanting to be down on the floor being wild. I think that made him realize it was an option and that we'd let him go pretty quickly if we do pick him up. Something just kind of flipped one day, and now he'll lay on our laps with the other mini, even come and ask for attention.

So nice to be able to just chill with him and watch a movie!

(Another) Pupdate!

A couple months ago, I posted about Quince (asked for grooming advice, whether this community thought he was a real pood, advice of how to get through his immiticide treatment, etc). Here's a long overdue (and long-winded) update:

• we finished his heartworm treatment around 3 months ago. His follow up test isn't until February, but I've been doing microfilaria checks monthly. It was scary for a few months, but I switched his prevention and didn't see any last month.

• I did the DNA test; Quince is 100% Poodle!

• attempted a German cut on him - the result (second picture) yielded many laughs. Once he's done with the heartworm protocol, I'll be taking him to a pro for a spa day. For now... well, I'm trying 😂 whoever recommended/linked the velocity dryer on Amazon - such a game-changer!

• He's no idea how big he is (66lbs now, from 45-49lbs when we took him in as a foster). His (8lb) brother, Bandicoot, had spontaneous zoomies in the yard - Quince got very excited. So much so, he ran into his brother with all the grace of a derailed train. Now his brother is on bed rest with a broken toe.

• He's become VERY comfortable in his new home and has truly become a part of the family. He's still a bit of a lemon (on our fourth round of ear meds and he's now on prescription food), but we adopted him because he needed so much help - and he's already leagues better than when we got him.

I would like to reiterate my gratitude for all the advice and support from this community - I was honestly trepidatious about posting initially because I've met poodle/doodle owners who were less than kind individuals. So, thank you.

My question this time is: which puzzles/interactive toys do your pups like? We have a shuffle mat, a box-opening puzzle, and a version of Hungry Hungry Hippos - all well-received, but I'd like to have a bigger selection (:

Saying goodbye

Upvotes

Hey everyone. So, I recently became an apprentice groomer. My boss/master groomer is also an AKC platinum breeder of show mini and toy poodles. So a lot of my training has been working with her show poodle lines. I found out yesterday that one of the minis I've been working with since giving sink baths with his littermates as babies, Roger, will likely be going to his forever home tomorrow. He's the last of his litter to go home and yesterday was his 5 month birthday.

I'm heartbroken, y'all. Absolutely devastated. I came into this gig as someone who has always been a big dog person. Not that I dislike small dogs, just that they're not a personality fit for me in general. But this dog has made me his person. We snuggle during my office work hours. I know his favorite show is MacGuyver. He lights up like a Christmas tree when I come to work and expresses his displeasure by paper tearing if I don't take at least a few minutes with him when I'm there. I'm so, so glad he's found his forever home, and I know this is part of the gig, but this one stings a lot y'all. I know you guys would understand, so I figured I could share here.

Pic of me and Roger and the last foot shave he will get from me for tax in the comments.
