WASHINGTON - Monday afternoon Trump signed an executive order directing the EPA to allow leaded gasoline which has been banned since 1996. The order would allow sales of leaded gasoline starting January 1, 2027.

The move was widely condemned by Democrats citing safety, environmental, and health related concerns.

Experts and scholars called the order "highly concerning" citing multiple studies that show the negative effects of leaded gasoline additives on measures of IQ and the environment.

The change comes after Exxon and Chevron pledged a combined $37 million to the president's midterm fund last week.

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to rename New Mexico "New America," according to the White House. A subsequent set of changes were also made to two states:

New York is now "New America 2"

New Jersey is now "New America 3"

"Effective immediately, anyone not calling these states by their new names will be put in front of a firing squad," the White House said in a statement.
