It wasn't THAT stunning

Yup. He had a chance to earn his spot in camp and pre-season and apparently didn't. I am trusting the process here.

Taking him over Peyton Wilson was dumb at the time, and aged like a glass of milk left on the porch in an August afternoon

Yep.
Never made sense to me either when folks would say "but Trevin is such a good athlete" when he tested like a JAG in every measurable.

"Most stunning" lol. Oh, it's a garbage AI article from what's left of Sports Illustrated.

It is?

SI barely exists as an independent entity these days. After multiple sales, it has only a skeleton editorial staff, and it's unclear how many of its writers, if any, are real people at this point. They've been caught using AI generated material "written" by fake writers with fake pictures in the past. Whether or not they still do, the writing certainly seems no better than AI writing.

I write for "On SI" covering the Panthers, Bills, Seahawks, and Chargers. I have no use for AI and don't use it. Been doing my own NFL research for decades. I'm sorry you have issues with the past.

Hey, glad to hear that you’re probably a real person! You’ll note that I didn’t ever say you weren’t, just that it’s been hard to get much information about the status of SI as an actual sports news publication in the wake of the multiple sales, the laying off of the entire editorial staff, the turn to AI to help write stories and to freelance rather than staff writers, and so on. Surely you can see how this has impacted SI’s reputation?

I certainly understand. As I explained, I am part of “On SI” and have been with them for less than two years. I have done my share of national writing over 40+ years and actually spent 22 years at ESPN as its NFL research coordinator. Thank you for responding.

That’s a relief to hear. Do you get the sense that there is an effort to hire experienced people now?

I honestly couldn’t answer that question one way or another. I’m not involved in that process, but I am enjoying my time with them.

My guess is they told him he’d be LB4 and gave him the option to get cut and go somewhere else because they had a similar grade on a number of other LB’s.
It’s a shame because it always seemed like he was right on the edge of becoming really good, but development isn’t linear and ILB is a really tough position in today’s NFL.

He’s Lb4 with the Jets too. And he never cleared waivers. This wasn’t a choice by him that he consented to. He’s just not good.

I remember arguing with someone during the season last year he wasn’t that good. He had good energy but he overshot tackles a lot and got washed out of run plays too much lol. I hope he finds a good place to ball tho.

Wallace had become a liability in the middle lacks tackle consistency and no pass protection it seems as if he forgot how to play his position after his rookie year!!!!

Our ILB unit is actually top 16 now. You cannot even argue with me on that.
I believe that it’s top 5 unit, so we can have that argument, but these moves were AWESOME.
A lot of people saw the Okereke pickup but missed the Tyrel Dodson who had a better season than Okereke last year and has played with Phillips. That’s one to watch; he’s a borderline starter, but will easily slide in to ILB 3 over Cherelus or Kuwatch

I wanted Trevin to work out but I’m honestly relieved that we’re not a franchise that remains handcuffed to draft picks solely because they’re draft picks.
