general question Thoughts on Master in Bioinformatics Coursework [UM]

Hey guys I actually came from a pure computer science background and have been working in IT for a couple of years. Did a couple of medical usage research while in my bachelor degree, but I don't think it is anything major.

I'm actually looking to further study more in bioinformatics. Currently considering NTU/NUS but honestly, they r kinda pricey. So I'm looking for alternatives in Malaysia.

Just wondering if there are any alumni that did this course in UM? How was it? Are the materials way too outdated? What are the research opportunity?

Also just a general survey on what are the job prospects for bioinformatician in malaysia?

I'm malaysian.

I heard bioinformatics pay very little. I considered that before but was put off.

Plus you need to consider whether we have that industry here in Malaysia. There aren't many.

Anyway good luck 🤞

I heard sg bioinfo is slowly in demand due to rise of ai (not sure how true is that). Was thinking of getting into A* research institute but sg unis are so pricey T^T.

Hopefully malaysia job prospect for this will be in rising :/
