Eniki Malayalam korachu ariyum. I know little to speak (very very very little) and didn't know to read or write before. But I got interested with the Malayalam script this week and started practicing and it was a nice and 'curvy' experience! Started with Swarakshrangal, and gonna continue with Vyanjanaksharangal, Koottaksharangal and Chillaksharangal from upcoming weeks.
I think I had some mother tongue influence over the script at times, because my MT is Tamizh and found some similarities between some letters. May be I'll have some challenges for learning Vyanjanaksharangal as some letters seem similar, but not their sounds. Let's see. 😄
At my first glance, I thought a, the first letter and related letters will be difficult. But it was easy, but ye, yae, and ai was somewhat difficult when I actually practiced. If you find any mistakes, please convey so that I can correct it in my early stages! Thank you!
A few minor suggestions. I’m too lazy to go get a paper right now, but if this explanation is confusing, do comment and I’ll get a pen and paper ( tomorrow).
E (swaram 3, 4) , u (5,6) and ru (7) - they go below the line, like small letter g,y etc in English.
The long o - the matra (symbol to make it long) should be a mirror image of English C.
The matra for ow can improve slightly, it’s legible but if my child writes like this, I’d correct it. It should look like a 3 turned 90 degree with a long curvy tail. Yours is not a full 3.
The aa (swaram 1,2 and the last two), the top of the curves should all be on the same line. Again, legible as is, but since you’re learning, better learn the right way.
The finishing curve of o and long o -again ideally should look like a 3. So a curvy 6 and 3 joined together.
You’ve got beautiful handwriting, btw, especially for a beginner. Atb!
