Other / เดฎเดฑเตเดฑเตเดณเตเดณเดต North Indian here... Rate my Malayalam handwriting ๐Ÿ˜…

Post image

Btw I can fully read and write Malayalam. I just don't know the meaning of the words I am reading/writing.

Let me know if I made any mistakes. Please correct me wherever I am wrong.

Thanks!

December- เดกเดฟเดธเด‚เดฌเตผ

Missed เด‰ เดŠ

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 13 '24

Yeah sorry my bad. Completely forgot about these 2 characters lol.

u/Starl0ard Dec 13 '24

You have great Malayalam handwriting considering the fact that you are not from Kerala. Mine is terrible compared to this. My Malayalam teachers had a headache trying to read my essays in Malayalam ๐Ÿ˜‚.

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 13 '24

Maybe because I learnt reading through print alphabets

u/anonymous_njan Dec 13 '24

I had a Malayalam teacher who was so hell-bent on making me improve my handwriting. At last, she said "Ninak ithinulla kazhivilla mone ๐Ÿฅน" and gave up.

u/Starl0ard Dec 13 '24 edited Dec 13 '24

I had teachers like that too, they used to scare me by telling me that I'll fail in main exam because my handwriting is illegible. Had one or two papers where I had to go for revaluation since I didn't get the expected mark.

u/anonymous_njan Dec 13 '24

Ennit fail aayo?

u/Starl0ard Dec 13 '24

Nope, I am doing my PG now and my handwriting is still terrible.

u/NaturalCreation Native Speaker Dec 13 '24

Also, just to clarify, เดฑเตเดฑ - เดŸ and เดฐ - เดฑ are not the same sound! They are pronouced differently.

Handwriting is great, btw!

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 13 '24

Yes I'm aware of that. It's just that I didn't know where to put these letters so I put them together. In hindi we don't have those sounds. We only have one r and one t.

u/yehudimehta Dec 14 '24

เดฑเตเดฑ is not one letter, and is not included in the standard set of letters in the alphabet. If you include a section for เด•เต‚เดŸเตเดŸเด•เตเดทเดฐเด™เตเด™เตพ, it can be added there. เดฑ is the last letter in the alphabet: the last line would be "เดณ, เดด, เดฑโ€.

Nice handwriting, by the way. Well done!

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 14 '24

Thanks a lot for the helpful insight. Will take care in future.

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 13 '24

u/OriginalClothes3854 Dec 13 '24

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 13 '24

u/OriginalClothes3854 Dec 13 '24

Unbelievable but thanks a lot

u/LOT1001 Dec 13 '24

I've been summoned

u/ramnamsatyahai Dec 13 '24

In same boat as you OP. started learning alphabets this week. I just need to memorise all of them.

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 13 '24

What's your native language

u/ramnamsatyahai Dec 13 '24

Marathi.

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 13 '24

The letter arrangement is the same. Just the symbols are different.

u/ramnamsatyahai Dec 13 '24

Yeah I noticed that too, it's similar to Marathi barakhadi (alphabet), but it has some more alphabets with different sounds. How did you learnt all of this ? Can you recommend any app?

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 13 '24

I live in Kerala so I also have no idea when I picked it up.

u/ramnamsatyahai Dec 13 '24

I am living here since 1 year, but I have little to no interaction with people. I mostly talk in English in office, but I am thinking about learning Malyalam now.

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 13 '24

You just have to put in small efforts. Your colleagues will take care of the rest.

u/ramnamsatyahai Dec 13 '24

Yeah, I will start doing it.

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 13 '24

Good luck

Happy learning

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '24

Really awesome work. Can you tell me why youโ€™re learning to write Malayalam?

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 13 '24

Because I work in kerala and I like to travel and learn about different cultures

u/Bright-Till5059 Dec 13 '24

Central Government training employee

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 13 '24

No. I just like travelling so that's why I learnt. I have been working in kerala for more than a year now.

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '25

What do you do if you don't mindย

u/fade2brwn Dec 13 '24

(Other than the December thing)

4th line- เดธเตเดตเดฐเดพเด•เตเดทเดฐเด‚ *

5th line after เดˆ- เด‰ , เดŠ *

Other than that youโ€™re golden op, keep going

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 13 '24

Yeah I missed the u and uu.. realised that after posting lol.

Thanks for your inputs.

u/Extinctkid Dec 13 '24

Better than me lmao ๐Ÿ˜ญ

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 13 '24

Maybe because I learnt reading printed alphabets

u/Extinctkid Dec 14 '24

I also went to central school so malayalam was never taught to me. I had to go to separate tuition to learn my own mother tongue lol. After that, I kept reading Children's books in malayalam so reading isn't an issue for me. Writing on the other hand...

u/AioliSubstantial7493 Dec 15 '24

Do you undrstnd eng?

u/Acrobatic_Ride_3746 Dec 15 '24

Hi OP, how did you learn alphabets? Could you help with some valuables sources for a beginner?

u/delhite_in_kerala Intermediate Dec 16 '24

No resources unfortunately. I just picked up subconsciously by existing in kerala and talking to locals.

But the thing is that the Malayalam alphabet structure is like hindi only. Only the symbols are different. Just look up the Malayalam alphabet chart and memorise the letters.

u/Re_Ya_N-07georgy Dec 15 '24

Just watch a video bro Or if you want I can tell you what sound each letter makes and you can just practise by copying the letters over and over again

u/Acrobatic_Ride_3746 Dec 16 '24

Yes sure please recommend.

u/Difficult-Flight-454 Dec 17 '24

The handwriting is great. Only thing I'd say is some letters are weirdly placed. For example เดŽ should be aligned so that the horizontal line lines up with the lines of the paper, same for เด‡ , เด‹,เดณ etc
