FAMILY My nana on 6/10/17, two days before the wrong-way crash she caused that took her life.
My Nana at my daughter’s dance recital on June 10, 2017. Two days later, on June 12, she drove the wrong way down the highway and caused a crash.
She was left brain dead and died a few days later. My aunt was the passenger and suffered a TBI and has no memory of the crash. Thankfully, no one else was injured. I think about my Nana all the time and still wonder what happened that day. Whether she was confused, whether something medical happened, or whether it was something else entirely. I know I will probably never have an answer.

FAMILY Final (and only) picture of my great grandfather, Brazil, 1961.
My Great Grandpa Benedicto Dias do Prado (1901-1962) was a farm owner in the state of Minas Geraes coming from a native brazilian family. In 1961 my great uncle (living, born 1932) got the first camera the family had and took a long drive back to the family home where his father had been living since the 1920s and asked him to take this picture. Three months later my greatgrandpa went to a bath in a cold river and died of Pneumonia.
Benedicto is the first member of that branch of my family to be photographed, this is the only picture taken of him during his 61 years of life and the original is guarded as one of my family greatest treasures by my great uncle, his son. His wife, Anna Izabel, died in 1992 aged 89.

CELEBRITY Some of the last photos of former Every Time I Die guitarist and professional wrestler Andy Williams (1977–2026) before he died during a wrestling match at 48 yesterday on Instagram.
Yesterday was a sad day for metalcore music fans because former Every Time I Die guitarist Andrew “Andy” Williams died during a wrestling match. In these photos, Williams was the one with tattoos on his arms and legs and a gray beard wearing a dark gray tank top, black shorts, black trainers, and a black cap with the number 288. During an Enjoy Wrestling show in Millvale, Pennsylvania, yesterday, he collapsed to death, which resulted in the cancellation of the event.
I remember listening to ETID songs in their 2016 album Low Teens, like Glitches and It Remembers. I listened to Glitches on Music Choice Metal in my paternal aunt's house in November 2016, and It Remembers while playing Forza Horizon 3 in 2017, which is why his works matter to me. Every Time I Die was disbanded four years before he died. Rest in power, Andy Williams. You'll be forever in my heart. 🕊🤘🏽🎸🎵
December 12th, 1977–September 5th, 2026
NOTE: I know that the caption might sound confusing for some, but I'm sorry if it confuses you, because English is not my native language. I didn't say he died on Instagram. What I meant was that these photos were posted on the platform. That would be great if you should respect my style because I'm learning English.

LOCAL The last image of 15-year-old Olga Galtseva before she died from her injuries on October 27, 1996. She was rescued as the only survivor of the apartment where the "Siberian Ripper," Alexander Spesivtsev, committed his brutal murders. Spesivtsev murdered approximately 82 people in Novokuznetsk
Olya was an ordinary 15-year-old student living in the industrial city of Novokuznetsk, Russia. Her loved ones described her as a kind, helpful, and responsible girl.
On September 24, 1996, Olya was walking home with two younger friends. They were approached by Lyudmila Spesivtseva (the killer’s mother), who faked a medical illness and begged the young girls to help carry her groceries up to her apartment. Out of kindness, the three girls agreed, unknowingly walking into a death trap.
The girls were held captive for almost a month. During that time, Olya's friends were killed and dismembered. Olya was kept alive but severely abused.
In late October 1996, a routine pipe leak in the building forced local plumbers and police to break into the Spesivtsev apartment. They discovered a horrific scene: human remains in the bathtub and Olya, barely alive, suffering from a catastrophic stab wounds to her stomach.
Olya was rushed to the hospital. Knowing she was dying, she used her remaining strength to give a coherent, detailed, step-by-step account to investigators. She died the following day from her injuries.

FAMILY My grandmother, 1938-2026
Passed away this morning from what I could only assume was heart failure. Since she was 88 it could have been a similar age-related cause of death. Her health had been in steady decline for the last 7 years or so, so it was bound to happen. I feel privileged to have had her in my life for my first 23 years.

LOCAL The well-known and, most likely, one of the last images of Gemma Hayter. Gemma was a 27-year-old English woman with disabilities. On August 8, 2010, she was tortured and murdered by three people whom she considered her friends in Rugby, England.
Gemma had learning disabilities and found it hard to make friends.
She had a very trusting, child-like nature and was eager to fit in. She often fell victim to "mate crime," where people fake friendship to use or abuse a vulnerable person. One of her killers was someone Gemma called her best friend.
On August 8, 2010, a group of five acquaintances led Gemma through the town of Rugby under false pretenses.
The group took her to a flat, beat her violently, and locked her in a toilet.
They then led her to an abandoned railway line. There, they subjected her to further torture, stripped her naked, and stamped on her head, leaving her to die. The next morning, Gemma's mutilated body was discovered.

LOCAL Justina Cho, Grace Rached, with friend Nathan Taverniti preparing to attend the Itaewon Halloween festival. Justine and Grace would later lose their lives in a violent crowd crush.
Justina Cho, 28, was among hundreds of young partygoers who became trapped as a crowd crammed into a tight downhill street in the heart of the Itaewon party district on October 28.
She died in hospital on Sunday surrounded by family who flew to be at her bedside.
It brings the death toll of the Itaewon crush in Seoul to 158.
Her younger sister Julia Cho said the social worker had recently moved to South Korea to pursue her dream of starting her own fashion label.
Grace Rached was on holiday in South Korea with friends, including Nathan Taverniti, who took to TikTok in the hours after her death to share what he had witnessed.
“I was there when she said she couldn’t breathe and I grabbed one of my friend’s hands,” Mr Taverniti said between tears.
Ms Rached’s family said she was a talented film producer who was passionate about making a difference.
Nathan said it took half an hour for police to arrive, another hour for reinforcements and even longer for other emergency services.
“Nobody was willing to help. I watched as people filmed and sang and laughed while my friends were dying, along with many other people,” he said.
“I was there trying to pull people out because there was not enough police officers and nobody was doing anything to make the crowd stop.
“We were yelling, we were saying ‘you have to go back, you have to turn around, people are dying’, but nobody was listening.
“There were people lying on the ground getting CPR, not by health professionals, by random people, whoever could.”
—
On 29 October 2022, at approximately 22:20, a crowd crush occurred during Halloween festivities in Itaewon, Seoul, South Korea, killing 159 people and injuring 196 others. Most victims were young adults, including 27 foreign nationals.
It was South Korea’s deadliest disaster since the 2014 Sewol ferry disaster and the country’s deadliest crowd crush in history. A special police investigation concluded in January 2023 that inadequate preparation by police and government officials, despite prior warnings, was the primary cause.
The disaster sparked widespread criticism and protests against the government and President Yoon Suk Yeol, with calls for his resignation. however, he did not step down. The president initially acknowledged partial responsibility for the incident but later retracted his acknowledgement and shifted responsibility elsewhere.
Nathan now owns Justina’s clothing brand "isforeverenough".

LOCAL Last photo of Dawson and Cora Clancy, taken by their mother Lindsay Clancy. Just hours after this photograph was taken, their mother would strangle them and their 8 month old brother Callan to death, then attempt to take her own life.
On January 24, 2023, Cora, Dawson, and Callan Clancy were strangled by their mother, Lindsay, who was later found unconscious outside the family's home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, after a suicide attempt. She was charged with their murders and pleaded not guilty, with her defense acknowledging the killings but arguing that she should not be held criminally responsible because her actions resulted from a severe postpartum mental health crisis.
According to Patrick, Lindsay seemed well on the morning of January 24, 2023. She took their daughter Cora to the pediatrician for a stomachache, then spent the afternoon building a snowman and doing art projects with the children.
Around 5:15 p.m., Lindsay ordered takeout and asked Patrick to pick it up and buy medication for Cora. He left around 5:30 p.m. and returned shortly after 6:00 p.m.
While he was gone, Lindsay strangled their three children with exercise bands in the basement. She then attempted suicide by cutting her wrists and neck and jumping from a second-story window. She survived but suffered spinal cord injuries and remains paralyzed from the waist down as of 2026.
