Seeking Support Forgetting how many rakahs

Upvotes

I have had this issue for years. At least 5 years, could be more. I pray 2 rakahs fine most of the time. But in four rakahs, when I get to the last one (or what I think is the last one) I think 'wait, is this the third or fourth?'.

I thought it might be my focus but when I try to focus in prayer, it's harder to remember which rakah I am on.

I feel like there is a big sin that I am committing that is causing this but I don't know what. I pray 5 times a day, I'm memorising quran, I am good to my parents. I don't do anything haram that is consistent.

It's really depressing me.

I hope that I will pass it In'shaa'Allah - I have put a lot of hard work into this and believe that I am more than capable of passing. My issue is that I overthink and my nerves are really getting to me now. If anybody has any advice for me that could help me with my nerves and overthinking as well - I would really, really appreciate it. Jazakallah khayr 😄

General Discussion Ruqyah experience

Upvotes

Whenever I listen tp Quraan and close my eyes , two vague faces appear im the darkness. I can’t distinguish who they are but I feel scared and my pupils move a lot. Also my forearms have this magnetic field moving in waves. I fel this heat around my neck . One of my legs starts to hurt.
I have been drinking olive oil and honey and black seed oil and ajwa dates and all these prophetic cures. Threw up some unusual yellow crumbly stuff and some dark brown slimy strings. Felt better for a few days and then again started feeling terrible.
I have also used recited olive oil on my body and whenever I used to order jinns inside my body to leave , they wpuld strike my right back musles under ribs.
Anyone ever experienced sth similar?

Seeking Support I Feel so alone

Upvotes

Alhamdulillah, He has sustained me and provided for me in abundance. Yet, I just can’t seem to get rid of this feeling of loneliness.

My heart longs for a partner with whom I can share my struggles, my happiness, and my sorrows. Someone I can look forward to, someone who reminds me of my salah, wakes me up for Fajr, and with whom I can praise Allah together.

I long for that kind of companionship. Wherever I look, I see couples, and sometimes it feels like it’s just me and Allah against the world.

Life has its difficulties, and I face them with Allah by my side. I am grateful for everything He has blessed me with, but somehow, this loneliness still doesn’t seem to disappear.

Ya Rabb, help me understand this feeling, give me sabr, and help me deal with this loneliness. And if companionship is written for me, bless me with someone who brings me closer to You and with whom I can walk this life in Your obedience. Ameen.

General Discussion I can't stop comparing my life to those who do haram

Upvotes

I know this is wrong, but I can't help but feel this way. I want to do what other people are doing, but I can't because Islam stops me. I want to date, I want a boyfriend.
I want to listen to music. I want to go out wearing nice clothes, show my hair, and just feel free. Almost every day, I get annoyed that I can't do these things.
I see other people doing all of this on social media and in real life, and I can't help but feel jealous of them because, honestly, I want to do it too.

General Discussion Can Allah’s goodness toward me run out?

Upvotes

I’ve been struggling with my faith lately. I haven’t been able to consistently pray five times a day or read the Quran, even though I genuinely want to. I don’t want to use my neurodivergence as an excuse, but lately I’ve just been struggling to have the capacity to do what I know I should.

I still remember Allah every day. I make dua before eating, before going out, before entering the bathroom, etc. and I still believe in Him. But I’m scared that because I haven’t been fulfilling my duties as a Muslim, Allah might eventually stop being good to me or stop giving me His blessings.
Allah has been so good to me throughout my life, and I’m afraid that this time I’ve somehow used up that goodness because I’m not becoming the person I want to be.

How should I understand this from an Islamic perspective?

Seeking Support I turned 30 this year, and I feel like I have lost my twenties to depression, loneliness and failed relationships

Upvotes

I turned 30 this year, and instead of feeling that I have built a life, I feel defeated, depressed and left behind.

I moved to Europe 14 years ago to study medicine and have lived alone ever since. Somewhere along the way, depression, loneliness and isolation took over. I gradually lost my ability to function and think clearly. I eventually left medicine and started studying something else. Now, at 30, I still have not finished my bachelor's degree. I only have my final project left, yet some days even getting out of bed feels impossible.

I have almost no friends. What I wanted more than anything was simply genuine companionship, but the relationships I found were mostly with men who saw my loneliness and vulnerability as something they could exploit. I was already exhausted, depressed and desperate for affection, so I tolerated things I normally never would have tolerated.

One long-distance relationship particularly damaged me. He played with my emotions, humiliated me, exploited how emotionally deprived I was, and I kept forgiving him and returning. At one point he told me, “If I wanted to, I could ruin your life.” Later, after leaving his poison behind, he mocked the idea that he had harmed me: “Did I tell you not to pray? How could I ruin your life when we live so far apart?”

I had spent years trying to live a disciplined and religious life in Europe. That relationship disturbed something inside me deeply. I made mistakes during a period when I was severely depressed, but I have since tried to reset my moral compass and protect my faith, dignity and upbringing.

I also tried Islamic marriage groups, hoping that approaching marriage seriously would be different. Instead, I repeatedly encountered men who seemed interested in entertainment, control or sexual gratification while using religion and marriage as respectable packaging. Some had spent years in casual or sexual relationships and suddenly wanted a “pure” woman, while apparently having no intention of holding themselves to the same standard.

I am tired of being someone's temporary experiment.

The painful part is that this goes much further back than romantic relationships. I don't remember ever truly feeling loved growing up. My brother has probably been the one person whose love I never doubted. My relationship with my parents became more loving later in life, but as a child I often felt unseen by my mother, while my father seemed preoccupied with his image and place in society.

Now my parents are getting older, I have only one sibling, and I am terrified of eventually losing the few people I still have.

I look around and see people living ordinary lives with their spouses, children, families and loved ones. Meanwhile, I am breaking down alone. I cry walking down the street, at the bus stop, in the supermarket. Sometimes I barely leave my bed. I struggle to find any emotional middle ground: one day I feel high and capable of rebuilding everything, then I spend days completely down again.

People say loneliness as though it is a temporary feeling. For me, it has been the structure of my life—from adolescence, through moving abroad, and into adulthood. Moving to another country only made it deeper and harder.

I am 30 years old and I am exhausted from carrying myself alone.

I don't need another person to tell me that “30 is still young.” I know that intellectually. What I don't know is how to rebuild a life after spending so many years surviving instead of living—how to finish my degree, regain my ability to function, build healthy friendships, protect myself from people who exploit vulnerability, and somehow believe that love and belonging are still possible for me.

I am tired. I genuinely don't know where to begin.

Narrated Shaddad bin Aus:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is: O Allah, You are my Lord, there is none worthy of worship except You. You have created me, and I am Your servant, and I am faithful to Your covenant and promise as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me, and I admit my sins. So forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.
The Prophet (ﷺ) added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise." https://sunnah.com/bukhari:6306

Seeking Support Prayer Feels Heavy

Upvotes

I used to be a very disciplined Muslim when it came to Quran and prayer.

Since childhood, I went to Quran classes and memorized Quran day by day. I would always try to be early for salah and get into the first row. As a kid, the people I looked up to were imams and people who seemed genuinely devoted to their faith.

Then, when I was around (age: this subreddit doesn’t allow me to post my age) I went through probably the worst downward spiral of my life. I became agnostic, rarely prayed, and forgot a lot of what I had memorized from the Quran.

Alhamdulillah, after a lot of experiences, especially during COVID, I slowly came back. Prayer helped keep me going during that period, and eventually I returned to my faith in a much better place.

Now I’m (age) but prayer has become one of my biggest weaknesses. I fast, read adhkar, and try to do other things, but I know none of that replaces salah. Every time I try to become consistent again, I seem to fall off.

What makes it harder is that I know how important prayer is. I know how much it has helped my heart and made life easier before. Especially with everything difficult happening in my life right now, I feel like I need Allah more than ever.

But when I pray, I often feel like I’m just going through the motions. Sometimes my prayers feel fake, and I rarely feel much emotionally during salah. That makes it even harder to keep going.

If anyone has gone through something similar and managed to overcome it, I’d genuinely appreciate any advice or experiences you can share.

Seeking Support i am struggling to believe

Upvotes

I never missed a prayer in so long but i lost all hope starting a few days ago and i didn't pray fajr today. I'm not proud of it, in fact there is an uncomfortable feeling somewhere. For years, my existential crisis has been affecting my life badly. Yet, i always get up and pray. I wonder the meaning of life and ponder upon my purpose. I feel void. I feel like an empty shell. Yet, i tried learning about my Creator, following His order and i pray and pray and pray that the good deeds would heal me. Lately, I'm so tired both physically and mentally, still i force myself to pray because that is my responsibility as a slave. While I'm struggling, my friends who didn't pray, didn't believe, didn't practice, were striving in life. I never question it before but I'm on my last straw, not just in religion but life in general. I'm so lost and tired. Even if i pray, my condition will not change. Does prostrating to a God so mysterious would make me half a loser? Does reading a scripture i struggle to understand would make me stop having these sleepless nights, lifeless life? If so, how come for more than a decade, these feelings never left? I tried so hard to follow, to believe, to practice. Reality is, nothing will change whether or not I had prayed, had believed, because I guess my life is already written anyway. If God wants me to live like this, then there's nothing i can do. Praying, believing, and no matter how much i beg and plead for an escape, for a change, for a gleam of hope for things to get better, and most importantly no matter how hard i try, i will still be here, the very same place I'm stuck in. I sit here and i remember all the books i bought to learn more, thinking religion would fill the void in me. I remember how hard i tried to understand, to be patient, to hold on but I honestly feel so helpless and hopeless. It feels so heavy to accept things will not change for me even if God has witnessed me, all my struggle and effort.

Seeking Support need Duas desperately

Upvotes

My sister is 27 and recently gave birth. Soon after, she started experiencing severe pains in her pelvic area, especially around her ilium side. The pain is so intense that she can’t move or get up without help she needs a stretcher to walk or has to hold onto something just to stand. 💔

She’s even away from her own child because of this condition, and it breaks our hearts to see her suffering like this. I beg you all, please keep her in your duas. Strangers’ prayers are often accepted, and perhaps one of you is closer to Allah. 🥺

Please pray for her recovery and that she can return to her baby soon. May Allah grant her complete shifa and ease. Ameen.
