There's an alternate calendar proposal called The International Fixed Calendar that I yearn for. 13 months, 28 days each (364), with a holiday between each year that doesn't belong to either. Every 1st is a Sunday, and every date is fixed to the same weekday every year.

I'm also really sad this concept died out.
I've heard the biggest opposition was from religious groups (big deal in the 1900s) who were opposed to the 1 or 2 New Years Day being outside of the week cycle would interrupt the 7 day cycle of sabbath.
That and unfortunate timing with WW2

Holiday Day or whatever it gets called. It would still be the same every year, you just wouldn't have a month to lump it with. It would just be like saying "I was born on New Year's Day" and that's it

And then you don't get quarters, halves or any sensible division of the year, cause there is a prime number of months, so it becomes a problem

An actually good change would be change all 12 months to 30 days each and then have a 5 day holiday at the end/start of the year. Make it 6 days on leap years.
Edit: Could also go 13 months with 28 days each to make weeks symmetrical. Have the extra day as a holiday at the start of the year.

Y'all never realized what leap years were for?
Y'all never paid attention to the moon? Or dated one of those fucking nutjobs who believe in astronomy astrology?
Now y'all are gonna say y'all didn't know July and August were recent additions to the calendary and that's why you have SEPTember OCTOBER NOVEMBER and DECember not being their corresponding months of 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Leap years are very specifically not about prime factors
Unless you want february to have 28.2425 days we have to deal with them

I do find the idea of a convoluted system for tweaking the length of days over the year to force days into an even number even though it's a astronomical event, amusing.

365 isn't divisible by 7 but with 364 you can have an even 13 months of 4 7-day weeks each.
Then make New Years Day its own day that exists outside of the months / weeks. Every 4 years* its 2 days long instead.This would also make days-of-the-week stable. Months always start on a Monday. January 3rd is a Wednesday every year for all time.
*im not gonna explain leap year rules you know the things

So why even have years just do days. Or like 0.1,0.2 to 0.364 then 1.1 1.2 to 1.364 then 2.1 and so on. The leap year can have .365

some cultures did separate the year into 5 equal parts
for example in chinese philosophy (Wuxing) the 5 seasons correspond to the 5 elements:
- Wood, season of early growth
- Fire, season of ripening/flowering
- Earth, season of stability
- Metal, season of harvest/fruition
- and Water, season of consolidation/stillness
(thats another fun fact for you tonight, the idea of 4 elements is largely a western notion, chinese philosophy seems to vibe with the 5 a lot more)
