Hello i bought my first leslie 722 recently and I’ve been having some problems with it.
When it spins down from fast to stop it goes to medium speed for a few seconds then speeds up to fast for about one second before going to stop. While this happens it also makes a noise. More recently its been more inconsistent and sometimes it will spinn up to fast speed not just for one second but for about 5-infinite seconds. I suspect that its the motor control board. Does anyone know anything about this problem or what could be the fix?

Hey everybody, I have a few questions regarding the Hammond model E312 (1965).

- How does it compare to the B3/A100/… models soundwise? Ive read that it is among the last ones built with the classic tone generator engine.

- How do the keys feel compared to the B3?

- I could get one in good condition for 350€. Fair?

Just overall, if you have played one I would like to know if it compares to the popular models at all. I would like to get the original Hammond sound to my home without spending a fortune. Thanks!

Today I am gigging with a Yamaha MODX M8 and a Nord Electro 3 with a Neo Ventilator 2.

I am planning to upgrade my Nord with something new.
Have seen on several boards. Mojo 61, Viscount Legend One, Nord Electro 7, Yamaha YC61 to name some.
There should probably be more types to consider.
Does some of you have any suggestions? Any of you tested these?
I am planning to still be using the Neo V2. So the leslie effect is not that important, but i want the most realistic organ sound. I am not very satisfied with my NE3. It's a good organ, but not great.
Have off course considered Hammond XK5/7 but they are almost doble the price when compared to the boards i listed up here.

Some of you may have seen my last post about building a DIY Leslie Speaker. I decided to go with parting a Leslie out and picked up this 222 for $300 today! Super excited about this but there a few questions I have.

Is anyone familiar with the cable that is coming out of the amplifier? The owner said that it connected up to the organ that it was paired with, but I thought that was what the 6-pin cable was for.

I am also looking into building my own DIY pre-amp for this speaker. I have minimal experience building analog circuits in the audio realm but have plenty of resources around me where I think I can get it done. I am aware that you can buy a Leslie combo pre-amp or Trek 2 and what not but I want to avoid going down that route because I'd rather just do it myself!

I am going to replace the AC motors with 2 stepper motors driven by "silent" drivers, controlled via an arduino for variable speeds and adjustability. I also hope to build a new cabinet for the speaker later down the line but really want to focus on building the pre-amp, make sure the Leslie functions (it should because it had been serviced a few years ago and annually before then), then implement the new motors, THEN build a new cabinet. I expect this to take a while and am reminding myself to be patient but am so excited to get started on this.

If anyone has any insights on how I should proceed, I would greatly appreciate it!

One of my favorite hammond organ driven albums of all time is Solomon Burke's 2005 Make do with what you got. SO GOOD. Anyways something has always driven me crazy and figured some of y'all would know.

Hi all! Just acquired this 70s-era transistor organ from my landlord. Only issue is the power cable has a prong missing, so I’ll probably need a new one. The current one looks like a simple 2-prong AC cable but seems to be attached internally (I can’t just pull it out the back).

I’m not actually sure what model organ this is—based on my limited knowledge, it looks closest to either a Dolphin or a Cougar (but for all I know it could be something else entirely).

Hello everybody! I've been a keyboard player for years and have recently been blessed in being able to purchase this organ from a local church. I'm trying my to figure out what it is; I've asked my roster of people and they've said it's either a modded M1 or an old B3.

If I could get some help in identifying exactly what it is, I'd be forever grateful! I've somehow already got a Leslie 710 on the way from a friend and he said it'll pair with it, regardless of model.

I've got an M100. I'm gearing up to do the top end foldback mod, and I keep seeing references to tapering. I know it involves adding resistors but I haven't read anything that actually explains what it is and what it's supposed to do. And whether I want it.

I got the contacts from Alan Dubois on eBay. His rather extensive instructions don't mention anything about tapering, which makes me wonder if I should even worry about it.

DIY enclosure (I can 3D print a lot of the mechanical parts)
Motors controlled with a microcontroller for slow/fast speeds

I’m fine figuring out the motors/control side myself. I’m mainly looking for recommendations on the speakers, HF driver/horn, amps, crossover, and power supply.

I’m shooting for around $400 total and want something that sounds legit enough.

There doesn’t seem to be a ton of detailed information on DIY Leslies out there, so if anyone has parts recommendations, schematics, or good resources I can read through, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hey everyone! Thank you in advance for any advice yall give. I recently fixed up an old hammond l100 and would like to record / pump the audio into some external speakers. I saw a video in which a guy was able to split the (preamp?) rca cable and turn it into a 1/4 inch output for a amp. I tried that and failed to make it work, so my next idea was to use a car stereo "Kicker 46KISLOC2 K-Series Stereo Line-Output Converter w/Remote Turn-On Output" I guess it works by attaching directly to the speakers and then splitting the audio they receive to rca outputs I then could plug a rca to 3.5mm cord into and plug the 3.5 either into a speaker or a laptop to record the audio. Not sure if this will cause any issues down the road. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, I’m new here. I’m 23 years old and I’ve been on and off with some small rock bands singing or playing keys the past 4 years.

I really want to dig into my Hammond organ playing but I always feel so lost. Are there any good resources online/books/teachers/courses that would help someone over a hump? I mainly feel like I don’t know where to get started (rock, jazz, funk, etc.) and need something to really get into and focus on.

For context: I’d say I’m intermediate as a keys player. I can read sheet music, learn a bit by ear, read chord charts fine, I know my major/harmonic and natural minor/dorian scales. I know standard rooted and rootless jazz chord voicing (one and two handed). But I just really don’t know how to get to the next level!

I’ve restored a Leslie 760, and I’m now trying to solve one of the last remaining mechanical issues.

The whole cabinet wobbles noticeably when running at fast/tremolo speed. At first, I thought the bass drum was simply out of balance and planned to rebalance it. After investigating further, however, I found that the main problem seems to be the treble horn bearing.

There is noticeable lateral play between the horn shaft and the bearing/bushing. At high speed, this seems to be enough to make the horn wobble and, in turn, shake the whole cabinet.

I suspect the bearing has simply worn over the years, possibly due to insufficient lubrication or poor maintenance in the past. Cleaning the bearing during my restoration may also have made the existing wear more noticeable.

I found a pretty good deal for a hammond on marketplace. It doesn’t list what model exactly but looks to be an a-100. Essentially they listed it as non-functional purely because they don’t have a power cable for it. So, I’m planning to buy a power cable for it and go see if the thing works or not.

I’m wondering if there is a specific brand or power supply that I should buy for it or will any power supply that can plug into it work?

Also does the hammond power the leslie via the 6 pin cable or does the leslie need its own power supply?
