Custom Hatsune Miku GPU

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

I made a custom Hatsune Miku GPU out of my Radeon RX 7600, and a keyboard and SSD heatsink. Spray painted with Rustoleum painters touch plus flat Grey primer, Schneider Turquoise spray paint and Acrylic paint markers for the accents and artwork, Rustoleum painters touch plus clear matte coat to cover everything.

I know it's buns, highkey coulda done better.

My favourite thing is the metallic silver holographic Hatsune Miku artwork I painted onto the backplate using a toothpick, looks better irl👉👈

Been here long enough to know Redditors and their "not so kind words", but at least I like it....

Also if anyone cares I spent Soooo long making custom adaptors for my argb fans to work in the corsair commander core hub I have, glad it actually works😭

Remember to take the plastic film off of the GPU.

Upvotes

You know that plastic film over the GPU that protects it. I have never taken it off. I just leave it on. Why not? Well it bit me today. One of my GPUs heated up and I heard this weird sound in the other room. When I got there I found that the film covering the backplate of one GPU got sucked up into the fans of the GPU next to it. Which jammed up the fans and made it overheat.

I've always kept the film on to keep a GPU looking new. I spent the next few minutes taking the film off of all my GPUs.

NVDA 2060 Super Fan Issue

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

Bought a used 2060, fans kept kicking on at 100% duty cycle when I booted any game up. Checked hotspot temp vs operating, 68c operating -> 107c hotspot. Popped the heat sync off to find this thermal paste setup. Idk what this stuff is lol

Looks like solder but is still liquid. Going to repaste with proper stuff and see how it does. FYI for anyone having fan issues with their 2060,check yer hotspot temps

Update:
Cleaned and applied proper thermal paste. New number under heavy load 76c operating temp -> 91c hot spot. Fans no longer kick on full blast, i think it must have been a temperature safety trigger. Way quiet now

RIP Budget GPU Market of Singapore

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

New RX 9060XT 16GB are now.... extremely jacked up in price. Techyard increased their prices from SGD$600 (~USD 479) to that SGD$929 (~USD 739) figure effective today. I feel like I took the last chopper out of nam with my previous purchase (which I already felt was overpriced)

Yes, there are cheaper competitors than Techyard, but it remains to be seen if they can still sustain their 600-ish SGD figure

There is literally no hope for brand new entry level components, and even the used market of SG is feeling the pinch.

So i just bought a XFX Radeon RX 9070 XT Swift 16GB, was it worth it?

Upvotes

I was deciding between the XFX Radeon RX 9070 XT Swift 16GB and a 5070/5070 ti. So my question is if I made a good decision going with the 9070. Edit: I paid $995

Deciding to repaste GPU

Upvotes

Hello everyone, I am torn on whether I should attempt to repaste my GPU/pay someone to repaste my GPU professionally. I bought a 5070 ti pny triple fan oc edition secondhand and have noticed the thermals are always kinda high, at least in some demanding pathtracing games or if i enable DLSS 5. Even with an undervolt of around 950mv my temps will climb to around 80-83c and my fans will turn to turbo mode. Would replacing my thermal pads with higher quality ones drop my temps down and keep them from getting so high? The noise from the fans are bothersome and I am worried I am not able to really push the card because of the thermal issue.

Edit: just wanted to add my ambient temps are around 70f in my room. I have a nzxt dual chamber case with 8 fans in total and this is the second gpu i have had in this case. My previous gpu didnt have any problems and would stay well below 80c.

What are your suggestions about this? Will you take this offer?

Upvotes

I was reading an article then I found out that now laptops will have those Desktop level CPUs and GPUs and those laptop will give almost same performance as PCs without Thermal Throttling but the upgradebility is still compromised, so will you guys ever buy those laptops?

For now the cost difference between this two cards is around 150-170€ in DE region, what do you guys think is better for 1080p (competitive and AAA+ games)? When we are talking for 2026 and next years comfort gaming?

Undecided between AMD and NVIDIA

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m currently building a new gaming PC and I’ve already purchased most of the components. The only major part I haven’t bought yet is the GPU, and I’m really undecided between AMD and NVIDIA. I mainly will play AAA/single-player games and some Competitive games.

I’m currently considering:

- XFX Mercury RX 9070 XT Magnetic Air

- ASUS TUF RTX 5070 Ti OC

- MSI Gaming Trio RTX 5070 Ti

My current build:

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D

GPU:

Motherboard: MSI MAG B850M Mortar WiFi

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30

SSD: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB

AIO: Noctua 360mm

Case: DeepCool CH260

PSU: Corsair SF1000W

I’d really appreciate some advice on which GPU you would choose for this build and why.

Thanks in advance!

Is it worth it to sell 5060 ti for 9070xt?

Upvotes

I just bought 5060 ti this may and considering selling it to buy 9070xt. I’m planning to buy second hand 9070xt hellhound that I spotted just a few days ago.

I mainly play cs2, valorant, and apex. The only story games that I played are only Space Marine 2 and Doom Eternal (Planning to play Modern Warfare).

Is it better to stick with my 5060ti asus dual oc 16gb or flip it to 9070xt?

Thanks

Edit: I need to pay around $200 for the 9070xt trade.

Best way to sell GPU in UK?

Upvotes

I have a 9070xt I used for a month before upgrading to NVIDIA, it's perfectly fine it was personal preference. I offered it to my husband, but he's leaning more towards NVIDIA so seems selling it might be best but not sure where to begin.

CEX and GPUsed are offering eyewateringly low values, around £400 (I paid £700 and barely used it), which is a shame cos that'd be safest. If my husband's NVIDIA equivalent was the same price as a 9070xt, I'd take the loss but there's a huge UK markup on NVIDIA so the overall loss would be substantial. Cash converters price match CEX these days, so pointless asking them.

Ebay by far seems to be best value, but I keep reading horror story after horror story and I saw a post specifically advising not to use it for newer better condition cards to avoid being scammed. There seems ways to ensure ebay will side with you, but now people can override them with charge back it's a huge issue. I thought maybe the card being well within warranty might help us cos we could RMA if it's returned to us faulty but apparently they can literally send you nothing back and do charge back? Seems like a huge gamble.

Seen a few people recommend hardware swap, but having never used it we're unsure. Has anyone had experience of selling there?

We're not on Facebook and never used gumtree.

If there's anywhere else I've not thought of, advice is very welcome!
