I’m 17, extremely suicidal, diagnosed with persistent depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. I feel like I need to be admitted, but most of the hospitals I see in or near my area seem to be extremely incompetent to providing inpatient care.

I’ve only ever been to Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center, and my stay there did not help me. It felt like a daycare where they would try to fatten kids up and have them sit in front of a TV all day. Half of the boys section were filled with kids below the age of 10. I had to lie to the doctors, saying I felt better when everyday I felt worse. And while I don’t know how their payment system worked, my dad had to pay $1,000 for each day of my stay.

I need actual inpatient care, or otherwise I’m going to end up hurting myself again.

Can anyone, I guess, recommend an impatient hospital that actually helped them?

I electronically requested my title for my car not knowing it takes 3 to 4 weeks to get it, I need to sell my car tomorrow because I’m getting my new one. If I go into the DMV, will they print me one even though I have one on the way in the mail?

“Property taxes shift the total cost of housing into the future,” the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis wrote in a November 2024 report, which focused specifically on how low property taxes become a barrier to homeownership for young families and other first-time buyers.

“For young households especially, this ‘capitalization” of property taxes into a lower purchase price can make all the difference,” the senior economics writer at the Minneapolis Fed wrote. “Although their expected future earnings might be more than enough to cover taxes down the road, many struggle right now to muster the cash for a starter home due to hefty down payments.”

Realtor.com came to essentially the same conclusion when they noted that a giant homestead property tax cut in Florida would create “an immediate windfall for current homeowners, but only at the expense of future first-time buyers.”

This may not be a concern to a myopic rent-seeking group like the Florida Realtors, which has already set up a political committee that could be used to pay for advertisements supporting Amendment 3.
