The real reason you want it is because of the engine. They don't make those 4.0s anymore and all I've heard is that they're basically indestructible

Honestly the engine is amazing, it’s just a shame it’s so hard to fix an XJ that hasn’t been rolled because Cletus tried to take it mudding. I can see why OP is desperate enough to turn to Reddit when they see a clean one.

Yeah I totally get it. I knew a guy a lifetime ago that drove multiple hours to the middle of nowhere because some random guy posted a near mint Wrangler with the iron block inline six. It had a salvage title and probably cost the guy 9k over Bluebook but he really wanted that engine

Unmolested inline 6 is my Eleanor. Doesn’t even need to be 4x4 because I’m not gonna pretend I need it to off road.

This happened to my brother! My parents bought him the Jeep, it was a deal and it was in PRISTINE condition, it seriously looked like it had been kept in a garage for yearssss. He loved that Jeep. Then one day he got in a very minor accident and it was declared “totaled”. He was very upset. I still think about that Jeep sometimes 😩

Something tells me from the vibes of someone with a few bumpers stickers and a bike rack probably knows exactly what they have and won’t want to part with it.
