india and bangladesh both suck we are pretty much same people divided by a border, our ancestors are most likely from today's india vice versa, it makes no difference bringing tribalistic crap here, neighbors should have a good relations
well India and BD had very good relations I'd say. I remember one of your minister in power said they'll capture India land which is delusional. Also one high official posted a "greater BD" map and deleted after backlash. If you threaten your biggest neighbor this openly, who is at fault here? India is very nice if you compare it to how other big countries treat smaller countries
It goes both ways. One of the main reasons why many Bangladeshis feel uneasy about India is the recurring narrative of a "Greater India" or "Akhand Bharat." The image I’m attaching is from an official display within India’s new Parliament building, which many in Bangladesh (and other neighboring countries) understandably find concerning. It visually implies territorial and cultural claims that extend well beyond India’s current borders.
This isn’t just symbolic—it contributes to a perception that India sees itself as the center of a civilizational empire, with its neighbors as peripheral. Add to that the fact that certain Indian politicians over the years have made provocative statements about “conquering Dhaka” or interfering in Bangladesh’s internal matters, and it becomes clear why there’s some distrust.
Just like India doesn’t want to be defined by fringe voices in Bangladesh, the same courtesy should be extended in reverse. Respect is a two-way street—and regional cooperation can’t thrive unless it’s grounded in mutual respect, not dominance narratives.
That map highlights the extend of mauryan empire. It is in library of the parliament of India. It has been clarified 100 times by Indian government. This map doesn’t have south India and north east as part of the mauryan empire.
India just refused to help Bangladesh. This is not an attack... This is refusal of further help. IND-BD signed a treaty... BD scraped it last year and now IND also followed suit.
“Public” hate the idea of India paying a funny amount as fee for transhipment whereas we have to pay the standard fee. Moreover, we import very little from those countries, mainly fruits.
IND pays 589 tk per tonne, BD pays 220 tk per tonne. heres the glitch, BD needs to pay an additional 10,000 tk per consignment as chalan fee and 50lac for bond.
they still don’t realize that it is india that is causing all the unnecessary drama via their bat 💩 crazy news outlets. and then their politicians act on it.
I see you guys all the time on Indian subs. I don't know why its a bad thing to see what other side things, we have that privilege so should utilize it
They have a peanut sized military budget and they wanna be guardian of the sea.
And that military with such a small budget has been able to overthrow the government multiple times, this tells how strong their political system is. Wannabe guardians
Well I already knew if I mentioned the army overthrowing the Bangladeshi govt someone would mention pakistan.
In the case of Pakistan they always spent more than they had on the military. On the other hand the Bangladeshi military was always underfed. They still managed to overthrow the government two times. Bangladesh might have a larger economy than Pakistan but still pakistan has more relevance I guess.

Bangladesh er biggest enemy is our fucking ego...... What do you mean good luck ? We need to work with India to come to an agreement instead of carrying this chapri attitude
And how many friends does Bangladesh have. You guys have two neighbours and you messed with both of em. Nepal and Bhutan both have open borders with india, I won't be surprised if india opens its borders for srilanka as well. You look at yourself.
Nah bro, thier godi visited sri lanka few weeks ago, i saw on bbs about his welcome, in nepal thier are litreally protest for a hindu country, fasict at the end, so countries left which hate endia are ours, china and pakistan as we know
Learn to spell brother. It's alright though, I bet y'all are still having wet dreams about capturing Kolkata and are frustrated with your inability. As for friends in South Asia, we got sri lanka(who honoured our pm with much love), myanmar(who kicked out rohingyas), nepal(hindu country), bhutan(loves Indian leaders because they are protected from China by our army),Nobody even wants Pak as a friend unless u want osama bin laden in ur home. So keeping dreaming. I will enjoy a chicken burger from KFC and drink some russian vodka in calcutta. And kashmir is of no geopolitical interest to us, it's just a vacation spot, punjabis love India and Seven sisters are Indian and will always remain so. Keeping dreaming.
I don't know what you're saying, Maldives tried to play smart but I haven't heard anything from their leader for a long time. Sri Lanka is trying to stay close to india after the economic struggle they had recently, nepal and india literally have open borders so I believe something's wrong with the News you're consuming

when all the neighboring countries hate a certain country, it definitely means all the neighboring countries are POSs and that certain country always try to do good for their neighbors ...
You forgot Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives… it’s rich coming from an Indian to lecture us on respect when India is always on the news for something notorious
You think Bangladesh will say officially that it hates India or it will allow our land to be used against India? That's not what we want, and that's not how diplomacy works. Ever asked why Sri Lanka had to explicitly mention they won't allow their land to be used against India if there was no tension?
Go ask the general people how they view India. When we Bangladeshis travel abroad, specially in South Asian countries, often times people mistakes us as Indians and shows an indifferent attitude. But the moment you reveal you are from Bangladesh, their attitude seems to change. It's not like Bangladesh is super great as a nation, but how India's neighbors view India. Try doing that experiment yourself or go ask in those neighboring subreddits and prove me wrong.
Meanwhile the neighbors: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Muizzu (who is apparently all for India now)
I mean... it doesn't really reek "respect" or "credibility" when you look at the list.
You are accusing others when your entire attitude and choice of words gives it away how condescending and immature you are. You speak as if India is some super grand nation, and all those neighboring countries are trash. A country that elects a right-wing extremist party like the BJP, treats its minorities like trash, oppresses its neighbors, is hated globally (hello Canada?) still thinks they are the best and never misses an opportunity to mock others, should I go on?
Yet I won't resort to your level and call you names or spread bigotry. But not everyone will do the same. You can brag and speak BS all you want, it doesn't change facts and it doesn't earn you respect either. If nothing, history teaches us that no nation with that kind of attitude and behavior could escape a disastrous downfall. Even the greatest empires, and India is far from great.
Let's be clear .. I don't think India is playing the 'please like us' game. More importantly, we don't care about respect from you, at any rate. While we will worry about getting our house in order, strong recommendation is to figure out what's happening to your minorities and the crazy anarchy on your streets.
Oh please, drop that attitude. And stop with the deflection. My comment was a response to someone claiming how only a few bad apples dislike India. No one plays the "Please like us" game. The fact that India is disliked so much by people is a strong indication of all the wrong things they are doing as a nation. It is directly correlated with your houses burning.
strong recommendation is to figure out what's happening to your minorities and the crazy anarchy on your streets.
Now I won't downplay the struggles our minorities have to endure, but you sure you are getting your information from the right sources? And not an exaggeration with an agenda from your media? Can I ask you what do you think is happening with our minorities and what do you think is happening with your minorities?
our minorities are rioting like dogs after we took way their right to enroach on any land by claiming some muslim did namaz there 500 years ago.
This is such a horrible way to attempt to justify an oppressive bill. Here is a nice post that summarizes the issues with it.
I did hear of some riots, specially in Muslim-majority areas. While this is condemnable, this no way justifies the Waqf bill or the countless other atrocities against minorities that India does. Why do you think BJP introduced the Waqf bill? It knew the turmoil and tension it would create so that the party can continue to spread hatred and do identity politics to stay in power. When will you people realize this?
And look at your choice of words. Rioting like dogs? Do you think all minorities are doing that or it's a tiny minority of them? Would you accept the generalization if I put it on the majority by highlighting the riots and attacks some individuals do?
Watch Al Jazeera's report on Why India banned BBC's documentary on Modi and the Gujarat riots. Did you know that Genocide Watch warned that India is the second most likely country for a genocide to take place? Yup, all of these happened before the Waqf bill riots. Hatred begets more hatred.
Has chinmoy das been released yet? or is he still in jail for demanding justice for Hindus?
Nope, he has not been released. I do not support how he was arrested. He could be involved in conspiracies against the state, but it doesn't explain the other issues with this case. Like why was he charged with sedition? There are so many things that does not add up here.
Bhutan is an Indian puppet. The only Indian puppet. You tried the same in Bangladesh but failed, and now you’re here flooding our subreddit. And just because I know who Muizzu is doesn’t mean others do. Naming two countries and then naming the leader of another isn’t very consistent behaviour.
And finally, as for the likes of me, I am a moderator of this subreddit. And you here are nothing but a brigading propagandist who thinks every subreddit should be dominated just like how your own country wants every neighbour to be dominated.
Naming two countries and then naming the leader of another isn’t very consistent behaviour.
No. It was very consistent with naming actual bad faith actors. Islamic Republic of Pakistan, People's Republic of Bangladesh and Mohamed Muizzu of People's National Congress.
Just like how I named Mr. Oli instead of a whole country like Nepal who are very hospitable and loyal... who literally serve in the Indian Army.
Loyalty and respect are expensive... Cheap people can not afford them and people who value them usually don't just give them away to anyone.
Tbh, I am actually amused that you haven't yet banned me or removed my comments. Anyway, I have wasted enough time of mine. You ain't changing my views anytime soon or neither am I changing yours.
Tui ketha baal je tore loyalty ar respect dimu? Tor propaganda kobe theke paltaichhe, Peoples Republic of Bangladeshre bad faith actors e include korsos?
Tbh, I am actually amused that you haven't yet banned me or removed my comments.
Why, so you can go cry about it in Indiadicksuction or Indiasqueaks?
Tbh, I am actually amused that you haven't yet banned me or removed my comments.
Nah, nothing to be amused about. We're not like you guys. And we refuse to be no matter how much you provoke. But that doesn't mean we lack a spine and won't take a stand when it comes to that.

Trust me, we have much better vision than your Indian government with its billions of citizens does. How else can a country that suffered from a genocide and multiple famines and dictators overtake your ‘superpower’ nation in a matter of decades across multiple indices?
brother, sri lankan president just honoured our pm . many bhutanese work in india and indians work in bhutan, and bhutanese king has the most respect for Indian culture and India. Bhutan relies on India for protection from CHina, they hold our army too btw as for nepal, they love us cause they r hindu. Nepal criticises some actions taken by Indian people but they still love India, as Indians we ourselves accept the fault of certain Indians. I mean, read geo politics from an actual source brother. Only country that hates is Pakistan and now Bangladesh joined the List. China and India are rivals because both want to assert dominance in South Asia. But that's always been that way since centuries.
Wrong. India has great relations with Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. Just few days back, Sri Lanka even awarded PM Modi with their highest honor. Not long ago, we also had great relations with Bangladesh. This transshipment facility was provided to Bangladesh by India in 2020 is a proof of that and also of India's good intentions.
To again counter your point and I will probably get hate in this subreddit for this; you have only two neighbors and both of them hate you? Correct me if I am wrong.
I only see bongladeshi blame every issue inside their country on India, if some one keeps accusing the other of baseless allegations, their reaction to it is quite natural
So stop blaming others for your pathetic state of a situation and learn to take accountability!!
Yep our neighbors hate us too. And that's justified, but I don't think BD claims to be best buddy or try to present itself as benevolent or anything. BD wants to have a business relationship which is beneficial for both, if our neighbors want that, then we can have it otherwise let's go our separate ways.
But we don't go around using our government pr to talk about minority rights and other internal matters of our neighbors while we ourselves fail to uphold the rights inside the country, unlike that certain country.
I would be more pissed if we weren't hated by Myanmar. Who the fuck wants to align themselves with a military junta responsible for creating the greatest refugee crisis of the last decade?
The fact that y'all are harbouring a bloodthirsty dictator says everything about India's role in our oppression.
Crazy to see how propagandized you all are by your state. The govt is fucking both you and it's neighbours while pitting the people against each other.
Bloodthirsty dictator??? Bud he is a 3 times elected prime minister with popular majority. Does your country has an elected govt ? Makes you think which country has dictatorship.
India has always been liberal with ppl seeking assylum due to persecution in neighbouring countries. we don't want radical illegal immigration here. there are huge demographic changes in seven sisters and west bengal mainly and in all states of India. why do you think we mainting our borders is a bad thingd?
btw I would like to see what border killings we did. I've visited NE and many places don't even have a border, I'd like them to make a strict border
This is not a good reason to hate another country. Nobody is obligated to give you transit and transhipment. Good reasons to hate India are border killing or safekeeping Hasina.
Bangladesh should take retaliatory action. Cancel transit and transhipment.
I think Bangladesh should try to have a realistic geopolitical strategy and maintain friendly relationships with India to best utilize it's geostrategic position.
Which I think Dr Yunus is doing anyways,
I don't interpret his comments as negative towards India, in fact I see it as benefitting the Northeast and ultimately what trade relations with India are trying to build towards. This antagonism Indian and Bangladeshis have towards each other on the internet is meaningless, as our current leaders are trying to work with one another.
The main blow here is the trade with US. BD's most important trade customer. Who recently imposed 37% tariff on BD and 26% on India. If BD had this access it meant it only got 26% on goods it sent thru India but now everything will have 37% tariff.
Imagine a similar shirt costing $100 made in India and made in Bangladesh... Indian made will cost $126 and Bangladesh made will cost $137. Now you can imagine what the traders will prefer to have a better profit margin.
Tough times ahead.
What Yunus is trying to do is beyond my comprehension at this point... cutting the branch he is sitting on.
Just chiming it to state that this is not factually correct. The certificate of origin for the traded goods will say Bangladesh irrespective of whichever port it sails from, and so the tariff will always be the same. By the same token, goods from Nepal will be tariffed at a 10% rate, although all of their exports are shipped out of ports in India which has a higher tariff of 26%. That does not mean that Nepali goods will be tariffed at 26%.
The more immediate impact of this cancellation will still be felt heavily by garments factories who will now be restricted only to using the limited capacities of Bangladeshi ports, which due to congestion can take longer and cost more in certain cases than shipping through Kolkata or other ports.
Border killings are politically motivated with no consequences for general Bangladeshi people. Those crossing the border illegally cannot claim human rights. India has several wanted persons in USA, UK . For sg Pannu, David Headley, Vijay Mallya etc. Even Bangladesh sheltered Mr Paresh Baruah and never handed him to India. Bangladesh under BNP has long provided terrorist support including ammunition to fracture India's Northeast. On the contrary, it should be India whose concerns of terrorism have not been resolved by Bangladesh.
I mean... when people are out there giving statement like "North East India is land locked and I am the guardian who can let you reach them", You are ought to show who is locked among who.
Ya'll even think for a second that your hatred actually matters to us? Stop day dreaming we ain't even consider ya'll a threat. More than 80 percent of Indians doesn't even know about the crap that is going on between India and bangladesh
People like Drump are everywhere with different levels! We should have plans or devise for alternatives. We already have some facilities of direct shipments which may need to grow more!
Unfortunately our big neighbor has to realize the results of their dumber decisions! It's good to get out of Indian hegemony!
You are never going to get out of geographical reality you numbnut. And that reality is you are pretty much locked by India on all sides including the ocean (if India wants to) .

In international relationships, the rule is tit for that. So far we only had tits thanks to Hasina, now we are giving tats. Here India, take some of my tat on your tit
It already has finished it's trade on the Western border ( No trade since 2019) with Pakistan and now it is trying to screw itself on the East as well.
Trade still takes place via UAE, also pakistan literally begs IMF for loan every 3 months, they ain't that important, if trade stops bangladesh will be more screwed.
India could not block Bangladesh trade to Nepal and Bhutan due to legal protections of WTO.
WTO is a joke, it is one of the most irrelevant international organisations out there, take a look at US tariff war for instance.
India is already facing rise in external debt
This would further convince Bangladesh to remove it's dependence from India and organize boycotts.
The only businesses truly harmed by this are the ones that rely on goods being moved from bangladesh to Bhutan and Nepal. Everyone else will just send their goods through mongla and chittagong and from there, either sri lanka or Singapore to their final destinations.
In the long term, it can lead to bangladesh's foreign policy moving away from its impractical India and South Asia-centric focus to a truly pragmatic and global scope. Please keep this up india.
This is like claiming "The world stops for Gaza protest"
Meanwhile it's only Muslim areas that stop, and Muslim areas don't really have anything to stop to begin w...
And meanwhile in Gaza - israel is going to build a city like dubai, in case u didn't know future...
U know y? Cuz again muslims don't have anything, so nobody really cares abt their opinion.
I Don't even need to explain abt Muslim leaders n nations...
Don't confuse the protests in Washington as anything to do w Gaza btw...
It's a just acting... to use it as a means to dedollarisation etc...
This is like claiming all the best companies r in Bangladesh and Bangladesh people r all crazy, which means they're not going to be productive, so there literally can't be companies
The important question is what portion of goods are currently using the transhipment facility. Minuscle probably. Our RMG exports remain robust for now and there is no alternative to expanding our port capacity in the long run.
I think Yunis already initiated and covered Bangladesh exporters issues by activating a route through Maldives, which is cheaper and faster than Indian ports.
