Should I?

I used to have long hair, like a metalhead. Now im content with this length, but if I cut it to short this bald spot will be very visible. Im at a loss at what to do next. Seeing the barber is just dreadful. Is it time?

I don't think it is that bad if adult man is showing some balding. I might go to barber and ask for a hair cut he thinks would work best. If not happy, than shave off.

But if this causes you insecurity and it makes you self aware you could just go bald.

I was going to say pretty much the same. He has a nice hairline and a little bald spot in the back isn’t a big deal unless it really bothers him. He’ll look good either way so it’s really what’s going to make him feel more confident.

I think this is how about 40% of Finnish men look. With light hair it isn't that obvious anyhow.
