Feeding time for my big girl

Long time lurker with a brief history of commenting. First time poster.

I need help identifying our friend here! I typically use Google Lense for quick identification but I keep getting different types of Orbweavers and it doesn’t seem right. After more reading it appears that I may just be used to spotting female Orbweavers, and given this one’s slender body and inflated pedipalps, it’s looking like this may be a male? I’m also thrown off by third and fourth set of legs being so much shorter than the front two. Any help would be appreciated!

The scorpion was found in Pima County and was about the size of a fingernail. I put my finger next the splotch on the wall where it was for reference. I already put it back in the desert, is it likely to return? Thanks in advance!

I posted this guy about a month ago because he was so beautiful. His web was tucked away in a corner but he recently expanded his web and I am dismayed to discover he caught one of my hummingbirds and it couldn’t escape. I love my hummingbirds and feed them regularly.

Had no idea this guy could catch and kill a hummingbird. I should have transplanted this spider before he caught one of my hummingbirds.

Hogna carolinensis, the Carolina wolf spider, is the largest wolf spider in North America, with females reaching a 4-inch leg span. Their mottled brown and gray bodies offer excellent camouflage against forest soil and desert sand. They are easily identified by a solid black underside and distinct orange mouthparts. Their large eyes reflect an eerie green shine when illuminated by a flashlight at night.

This ground-dwelling species thrives across North America, inhabiting environments ranging from coastal pastures to arid deserts. Instead of weaving webs, they dig vertical burrows several inches deep into the soil. They often build a small turret of twigs, silk, and leaf litter around the entrance to prevent flooding. While they hide inside during the day, they emerge at dusk to roam and hunt.

Operating as athletic ambush predators, they rely on exceptional eyesight and vibration sensitivity to track down prey. They chase and pounce with explosive speed, consuming crickets, beetles, grasshoppers, and cockroaches. Large individuals can even overpower small frogs or mice. Their specialized venom paralyzes targets while providing antimicrobial protection against insect-borne pathogens.

Females demonstrate extraordinary maternal care by carrying their silken egg sac attached to their bodies. Once hatched, hundreds of spiderlings climb onto the mother's back, riding on her abdomen for several weeks. She protects the brood until they are mature enough to disperse. While males rarely live past one year, females can survive for several years in the wild.

Western PA. I wasn't able to get up high enough to look inside the tunnel, but I've definitely seen a giant fishing spider around here before. Wolf spider? Something else?

This spider is about 2” long and was chillin on our curtains when we got home. I’m curious as to what kind of spider this is? Located in Colorado. And how to keep them out of the house? Our house is very clean so I’m kind of surprised this big of a spider was here.

My guess is a wolf spider but chat GOT said a recluse of some sort.

A lot of spiders have made webs outside and they’re HUGE cause I live in a forested area. Decided to let them stay since their homes won’t last thru the winter and besides, look how awesome!
If anyone knows the specific kind of orbweaver please lmk :)

I don’t know if this is the right place to ask but I saw one in my kitchen and now I’m afraid to go to sleep. ANYWAYS are there any states that do not have any type of solifugae at all??? I live in Colorado and they were everywhere last year

Location: Chicago, IL area
This pretty lady has built 2 huge webs above my deck. I was wondering if we should worry about her, if she is venomous or not. As we are currently working on our deck and one web will need to be removed since it is attached to a railing.
