I hate AI, but come on, I’m not as cool as Shrek. I don’t have that many layers to me
•
u/EmergencyPath248 18h ago
You can hate AI but it will become more relevant and ingrained in your life permanently
•
u/Drackar39 13h ago
Your life, maybe.
•
u/EmergencyPath248 13h ago
Our life
•
u/Drackar39 7h ago
Beyond rage, and gross and illegal invasions, no, it will not be ingrained in my life.

The fact that you got downvoted is proof that antis are coping
•
u/EmergencyPath248 18h ago
Cope is all they’re capable of. At this rate I will still see luddites complaining in 2050 😂
•
u/bunker_man 18h ago
Nah. You think their attention span is that long?
•
u/Horror-Collection127 18h ago
Says the guy who wants instant results instead of working on a piece of art
•
u/bunker_man 18h ago
Do you always invent random backstories for strangers? Because putting aside my other artistic projects that don't even use ai, I don't post ai stuff without hours of photoshop editing.
Post portfolio, O hard-working one.
•
u/Horror-Collection127 16h ago
It's a common sentiment among ai users. I apologize, I shouldn't have assumed you do, but in general from what I've seen, ai users have a shorter attention span
•
u/No-Tone8700 18h ago
Every time Reddit gets a hate boner for something, they eventually forget it in a few years. The head phone jack in new phones. The reddit API thing. China and the Uyghurs. Have you been seeing how many tankies there are these days? Reddit LOVES china now.
•
u/Tombets_srl 18h ago
Or that their response didn't match the comment's vibes
•
u/Clankerbot9000 18h ago
So you admit that the anti AI movement is rooted in vibes and not facts or reason?
•
u/Tombets_srl 18h ago
Good lord.
You really can't recognise a joke unless an AI points it out to you.
Also, please, get some reading comprehension. You can get it at your local school.
•
u/pugtailz 18h ago
They made a fucking Shrek joke, this comment wasn't even meant to be part of the debate
If it was an actual statement against your "argument" (although half your arguments are just ragebait) it would have been rooted in facts and reason, but no they just made a silly "Haha Shrek" joke. Are you allergic to humor or what?
•
u/Money-Emu3269 18h ago
Clanker can ragebait all he wants but at this point, I genuinely feel bad for him
Like, is this really how you want to spend your time? Posting low-effort ragebait on a debate subreddit? Why not pick up a hobby or talk to a loved one? We've got like 70-80 years max on earth, why waste it?
•
u/Clankerbot9000 18h ago
AI is my hobby
•
•
u/Money-Emu3269 18h ago
I'll start by saying I'm glad to see that you're actually engaging with my comment instead of posting one of your "masterpieces".
It's not simply a matter of it being your hobby, it's the fact that the only thing you use it for is, as I said before, low-effort ragebait. Seriously, go ahead, generate all you want, but when you start actively making it everyone else's problem, that's when I start taking issue.
I originally joined this sub because I was interested in debating others over AI, but so many of the posts on here serve only to divide antis and pros, when we could actually be having some interesting discussions on where AI's place in the future may be.
It's fine if debate isn't your thing, but exclusively posting such content in this sub is only making pros look worse by association.
There's a non-zero percent chance that you're going to say that this isn't exclusively a debate sub, and while that is true, most people here are still ultimately here to well... debate. Your content actively makes that more difficult for both pros and antis. Pros ultimately end up looking worse since you're one of the most prolific posters on this sub and have inspired a number of copycats, thus resulting in this type of content over representing Pro content as a whole, and antis look worse because the ogre imagery has become so popular, that many pros view antis as a bunch of neanderthals instead of people who are simply concerned about what the implications of AI technology may be.
I do actually want to have a conversation with you about this, so I'm sorry if I come off as insensitive at some point in this point.
•
u/Clankerbot9000 18h ago
Ain’t reading allat
Happy for you tho
Or sorry that happened
•
u/Money-Emu3269 18h ago
TLDR: Even if AI is your hobby, that doesn't excuse you using it to make debate on this subreddit difficult by posting inflammatory content that only serves to further divide both pros and antis. I'd have the exact same issue if you were an anti doing it.
Even if this isn't a debate subreddit exclusively, most people still use it mainly for debate, so you're still ultimately having a negative impact on the subreddit.

What a shame, I thought I might of actually have been able to engage in good faith with you!
I'm legit about to head to dinner with some uni pals to celebrate summer ending (not sure why that's something to celebrate) so I wouldn't have been able to actually talk to you for a little bit, but I guess you just made my job easier!
Hope your life improves to the point where this isn't the only thing you find joy in!
•
u/pugtailz 18h ago
Ragebaiting people online to get the attention you never got as a child is not a "hobby"
•
•
u/Interesting-Yellow-4 18h ago
It's crazy that you really believe this. Like literally insane. Cult behaviour.
•
u/thormun 18h ago
the good old you dont agree with me so you must be a bot
•
u/FireMarshallMC 18h ago
There are actual articles talking about the bots. And while I do agree that they exist, I won’t say they make up a majority.
•
u/Ma1eficent 18h ago
Written by bots... You gonna trust the bots?
In seriousness, turning up the heat on discourse so people scream at each other instead of finding common ground to work towards is the point. Of course there are bots at both extremes run by the same originator. Divide and conquer isn't new.
•
u/NEEEEEEEEEEEET 18h ago
Meanwhile antis praise China everytime an open source model drops for no reason at all
•
u/Opening-Fun-4830 18h ago
?? I've literally never seen that happen lol, it's probably just the common asia glazers who don't know anything about its countries but praise them endlessly for some reason
•
u/ProfessionalBoss2428 18h ago
There’s currently a pro arguing in favor of government mass surveillance….
•
u/Clankerbot9000 18h ago
•
u/Opening-Fun-4830 18h ago
- 200 bots out of 20 thousand..
This is the most cherry-picked data ever
•
u/Clankerbot9000 18h ago
That’s just how many they found
•
u/Opening-Fun-4830 18h ago
Uh yeah, duh? That's how statistics work. I could say the exact same thing as a counter-point lol
I could say that even if there were 1k anti-AI bots that they didn't find, maybe there are 100k other regular bots that they ALSO didn't find either.. because there ARE. Bots are EVERYWHERE dude there's bound to be hundreds of thousands or even millions of bots out there arguing against AI RIGHT NOW.
That doesn't mean that the anti side of AI discussions are a plant by the Chinese lol, or that they're being manipulated by foreign infiltrators.. it just means that bots are doing what they always do, spouting nonsense and spamming posts with whatever they scrape up off the floor of the internet. AI happens to be a huge point of discussion right now, of course some of what they scrape up happens to be just that. I'm sure there are plenty of AI supporting bots too
It's not a conspiracy lol, it's just bots. It's ALWAYS been bots. more than 50% of the internet is estimated to be bots of course some of them are talking about AI
•
u/Mattscrusader 18h ago
Yes they found that it was 1%, maybe come back when you actually have a point
•
u/Clankerbot9000 18h ago
Found the propaganda bot
•
u/Mattscrusader 18h ago
What exactly did I say that was propaganda? I'm literally quoting your source.
Also I get that you're obviously a troll but don't you think its a little pathetic being so obvious about it it?

I can’t believe there are articles on it now, damn. Only a few months ago people on here insisted it was schizophrenia/conspiracy to suggest that bot campaigns exist for this

For a group that talks about not being billionaires' lapdogs you guys sure did make this your new storyline based off of nothing but Elon Musk's word
•
•
u/Opening-Fun-4830 18h ago
It's true tho, there were 200 bots spamming anti-AI arguments
Out of 20K.. 200 out of 20K bots were spamming arguments against AI and suddenly it's a Chinese attack on our progression lol..
•
u/fartlorain 18h ago
There is a ton of investigative journalism into this beyond what Elon has said. Its not just the CCP there is a also a Swiss Billionaire as well as other private groups funding tens of millions of dollars (that we know of) into anti-AI misinformation.

Except for their surveillance. I never hear about how much surveillance there is in China anymore, outside the posts about police drones every few months
•
u/Clankerbot9000 18h ago
You’re the right winger. Anti AI is factually conservative because it rejects progress and wants to return to traditional values
•
u/Furrat87 18h ago
In which country is the political right concerned about the environmental impact of ai and are actively seeking ways to protect the environment (so more than just empty words)?
•
•
u/Tombets_srl 18h ago
I'm sure the proponents of the stationers copyright were REALLY progressive.
How could someone promoting the regulated use of the printing press be conservative by any standard.
•
u/PokemonCueball 18h ago
Ah yes, the only possible explanation for someone not agreeing with me, the main character of reality, is that they have fallen victim to malicious propaganda. I, of course, am immune to propaganda because I am so smart.
•
u/wonkyasf 18h ago
Why would china not want people to have AI? I’ve seen this take a few time and it always confuses me.
•
u/Drakahn_Stark 18h ago
China does not want the US to be in front of the AI race.
If they convince Americans to fight against and block AI advancement then they can take the lead.
•
u/dontmakelemonad3 17h ago
Haven't they already done that? Didn't Deepseek create a massive upset in the ai space like a year ago by being vastly more efficient than it's US counterparts? Beyond that, why would the Chinese believe that's an effective strategy? It's not like American collective action has really accomplished much of anything in the last 20 years. I feel like there's holes in this theory.
•
u/sasha_berning 17h ago
China open sourced their AI which American universities use for researching AI while American companies fearmonger and gatekeep China. It's pure projection and propaganda.

•

yeah, its absolutely idiotic. I dont know how this low effort post is getting upvotes
•
u/Scarlet_Sixer 18h ago
same. AI sucks, people are using AI to get fame and views. yeah, you have to put creativity in it. but there's also WAY more creativity in digital and traditional art. and, they take way longer than just generating an image that takes 5 seconds. we actually put effort into our work.

Most Pros are Progressive and Left Wing
•
•
u/Redhood_jason_todd 18h ago
I don't think that's the case, as I've seen more AI being used by right-wing / conservative people, while I have seen more distrust and diswant from Left leaning people. Where did you get the data to say that most Pros are Progressive and leftwing?
•
•
•
u/glorgshittus 18h ago
Ok so obviously:
This is true of the pro-side as well. The amount of capital they have towards propaganda and advertising is at the least equal to the amount the Chinese would be committing to this.
China is doing this because they like AI. So unless you want to make the argument that China doesn't like AI (ridiculous) then pointing this out is akin to pointing out that pros agree with the racist surveillance state China, which is just such a big W for you guys.
