I’m at a loss for words. I run a page on YouTube where I have just over a million subscribers. YouTube is my full time job, and in the most unexpected way possible, has allowed me to pursue the career as an artist that I’d always dreamed of. At least, until now.
I woke up this morning to find a message on my dashboard saying that my page has been removed from the partnership program for “reused content”, meaning I will no longer be able to monetize any of my content on the platform. No further explanation. This is despite all 1700 videos I’ve made being completely unique, edited by me, on my own, over thousands of hours across the past three years of my life. This is the hardest I’ve worked on anything in my life and overnight it’s gone.
Obviously I did some research, and I quickly found out that I’m not the only one going through this - and you’ll never believe this, guess who the culprit is? That’s right: In order to reduce the amount of AI on their platform, YouTube has decided to… implement an AI detection system.. that is going around demonetizing human creators for being too unoriginal. Yeah.
Ignoring the fact that an AI is blatantly incapable of judging the soul and passion of any human creation - how can the biggest video sharing platform in the world recklessly release something as faulty as this, threatening the livelihoods of thousands of people who are basically their employees? It’s genuinely such an unbelievable slap in the face to be labeled as unoriginal by a machine that is incapable of original thought. It feels almost like an incredibly overdue April fools joke, but one that’s turned my life upside down. I started my YouTube channel after I lost my job as a graphic designer to a machine - and now a machine is telling me that I’m not good enough once again.
I get one appeal, but either way, it’s honestly drained a huge portion of the love I had for this platform and the opportunity it gave me. How is anyone supposed to feel comfortable making videos if at any moment a unfeeling robot might decide they don’t make the cut anymore? I really hope that the people in charge realize that humans consume human media for human connection, and that AI has no place in this world. We don’t want perfect or efficient; we want soul. And most of all, we want the people who review our creations to actually be people.

There are kids on this platform. I don't do drugs, I don't care about them or people who do them, your life. But we should not be commodifying and promoting this. Come on.

Especially because of the sheer number of ads we get now.
Thoughts?

Mooostly because I hate how subscriptions hold you hostage as a bill every month, and honestly, I've never used or learned how to use the right ad blocker in my life. That's how every THREE MINUTES I am hit with a DOUBLE ad on Youtube. I was at work earlier trying to listen to a 22 minute video with my bluetooth earbuds to help pass time, and I usually just deal with taking my phone out to skip the ad no matter how annoying it gets, but fuck me dude, it hit the 20 minute mark and I was like, "God damn, and there had been like 7 ad breaks??"
And right now, I'm trying to listen to one of those playlist videos that compile a bunch of music together, and I kid you not, every time a song finishes HI WELCOME IT'S A DOUBLE AD. And this bank ad brooooo it has the most annoying scary piano music "oh no imagine your account is dry empty and hacked!!" That's about to be me with any okay looking ad blocker cause wtf. Anyway I didn't have anywhere else to rant about this where I know people will see and get it </33
Fuck this economy and fuckkkk subscriptions
Anyone else tired of this? I paid for ad-free only to have to deal with sponsored content breaks and Members-only content advertised to me.
Maybe it’s just me, but
If you are a channel with *members-only content recommended to me, I am unsubscribing from your channel so it shows up less.
As a YouTube Premium member, there's nothing worse than clicking on a video and having it on the thumbnail image because you haven’t paid some membership fee to the channel.
I support channels I like with Patreon. I don’t want to have to subscribe to premium channels on the premium service I use.

When opening the app, it just shows gray screen and doesn't move past that. It's been like more than an hour, never thought I'd be this miserable without Youtube

I'm currently trying to watch youtube on my computer on the website, and its been acting up. It signs me out of my account every time I click off a video into the homepage, signs me in the wrong account, and is just slow. Is this happening to anyone else right now?

Was watching a video and decided to click off it to find something else. Got to the home screen and noticed I had been signed out......random but I click sign in and get taken to a screen with a bunch of TV's and a message saying "Issue signing in, troubleshoot" don't click on it and decide to close the tab. Duplicate my music tab and try again but signs me in? duplicate and shows me signed out!
I am not sure what is happening, I have clicked sign in multiple times and its "worked" only for it to sign me out again. Gonna restart and see what happens.
Edit 1 - Full restart did nothing..........so this is a youtube thing as I still have access to my Gmail
Edit 2 - According to statusgator it appears to be happening to multiple people. I checked on my phone using the brave app and it seemed to work there.

Because a channel I've been into whose owner passed away just got "closed by the uploader".
Thankfully the videos were archived, but it's still awful.

Yet people are willing to pay $12 a month for Spotify? It's $3 more a month for ad free YouTube and unlimited music which probably has a better algorithm for suggesting new music because it's Google. I use YouTube so much that I would be sitting through hours of ads a month without it. I know I could use ad blockers but they don't work on all the devices I use YouTube on. I just don't get the hate.

When ever I try to use full screen on moblie, I keep having the videos on the side showing up and cluttering the screen. Is this something that is happening to others?

Where the hell did this come from and is anyone else getting recommended this?
