So I (21F) have been having a hard time for a long time, and I honestly just need somewhere to get all of this out.
On the outside, everything should be fine. I shouldn't have anything to complain about. I'm in the military, I have a stable income, a roof over my head, food, and all the basics a human should need. I know I'm fortunate in that sense. But it's so much deeper than that, and lately I just feel like I'm fucking drowning.
For starters, I work with all men, which makes it really difficult to make friends. I genuinely love the guys I work with. They're like my older brothers, and I'm grateful for them. But a girl needs more than that 😭. I can't talk to them about everything, and I can't exactly hang out with them all the time. They're usually trying to go get girls or go out drinking, which I get. I'll go out every once in a while too. But there's still this separation.
They'll go out and do things together all the time, and I'm usually just... left out.
Then there's the issue of getting too close to some of them and eventually finding out they want something more from me. Like BROTHER. LEAVE ME ALONE 😭 THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. I don't want that to sound egotistical or conceited, but it's happened enough times now that it genuinely gets on my nerves. I just want FRIENDS.
And I genuinely have no girlfriends. None. I'm basically a hermit at this point. I go to work, come back to my room, and bed rot. That's my life. I don't have anyone to call and tell about my day. I don't have anyone to randomly go get food with or have a girls' night with. I don't really have anyone to talk to besides my therapist, and sometimes I'm sitting there thinking girl ik you judging me rn 😭.
And if I'm being completely transparent, my relationship with myself hasn't exactly been great either. My self-image has gotten so bad lately that I've lowkey been barely eating/restricting my food because I don't like the way I look. I know that's not healthy, and I'm not saying it like I'm proud of it. It's just another thing happening behind the scenes that nobody really sees. I'm exhausted mentally, I'm lonely, I don't feel good about myself, and somehow my brain has decided food is another thing I need to fight with.
Then we have the absolute dumpster fire that is my love life.
I just want something REAL. I don't want someone who only wants to get in my pants. I don't want games. I don't want someone to love-bomb me for five minutes and then disappear. I just want someone who genuinely cares about me and wants to build something with me.
I've been talking to this one guy on and off for about a month, and when things are good, he is genuinely so much of what I picture wanting in my future husband. Then he'll just fucking GHOST. One minute he can act like he genuinely cares about me, and then suddenly he disappears like I don't exist. It plays with my feelings so badly, especially because when he's present, he feels like exactly what I've been wanting.
And THEN there's my family.
I love my family to death. I would do basically anything for them. But sometimes I feel like that gets taken advantage of.
My dad, for example, usually only reaches out when he needs something. I recently loaned him $11,000 because he and my mom had some medical stuff going on, and I was willing to help because they're my parents and I love them. But it feels like he's always asking me for something. And now my mom and sister have gotten comfortable asking me for money too.
Except now that I've given him that money, I'm struggling financially. Between my bills and school, I'm stressed as hell. I'm the person everyone else comes to when they need help, but I don't feel like I have that person for myself.
I think that's what hurts the most about everything.
I feel like I'm always there for everybody, but I don't feel like anybody is really there for me.
I'm so fucking lonely.
I hate this feeling. I hate feeling like nothing can just go right for me. I try SO HARD to be a good person. I try to be there for people. I try to do the right thing. I try to keep going. And somehow I just keep getting hit with another fucking brick.
I just want a fucking break.
I'm still mentally trying to recover from being sexually assaulted by my OWN STAFF SERGEANT. I'm dealing with that while trying to work, go to school, handle my finances, deal with my family, figure out relationships, and somehow function like a normal person.
And I feel like I'm drowning.
I don't want to get out of bed. Everything feels like a task. Even basic shit feels exhausting sometimes. And I'm just so tired of feeling this way.
I just want my turn to be happy.
And I know people say, "You shouldn't focus on finding someone" or "You need to learn to be happy alone." I GET IT. I do. But I've been alone. I've BEEN doing shit alone. I'm tired of it. Humans need people. I want friends. I want love. I want someone to call when something good happens. I want someone to notice when I'm not okay. I want to feel like I matter to somebody without them needing something from me.
I don't even need my entire life to magically become perfect. I just want to stop feeling like I'm carrying everything by myself.
I don't want this to sound like I'm sitting here feeling sorry for myself. I'm just tired. A girl is fucking tired.
I want my turn to be happy.
Okay I think I'm done.
byeeeeeee 😭
