Moderator Post We will not be removing all sexual questions.

Upvotes

We've had a few complaint threads, so it seems to be about that time for one of these reminders. Let me be clear: We are not going to ban all sex related questions.

They are firmly within "TooAfraidtoAsk", and always have been. Sex is a fairly taboo topic in a lot of places, and a lot of people have questions about it. (And as an additional reminder, TATA is not only for controversial questions. Nor do we allow question shaming for "googleable" questions). These are not new changes.

We get that not everyone has the same interest in those topics, but it is a core part of the sub. Currently, there are ~5 out of the top 10 posts being sex related. Earlier today, it was 4. Earlier this week, it was 3. It typically fluctuates between ~3-5, usually averaging closer to 3.

If you have particular suggestions (e.g. things that seem ripe for the FAQ), or questions feel free to post them below. No promises, but we're always open for improvements if they're feasible. For a list of common questions we get on this topic (what do we already moderate, has the sub changed?, can i filter posts myself?) see the first stickied comment.

Politics Politics Megathread

Upvotes

You know the deal, same as the previous megathreads, which were archived.

The rules:

All top level OP must be questions. This is not a soapbox. If you want to rant or vent, please do it elsewhere. Otherwise, the usual sidebar rules apply (in particular: Rule 1:Be Kind and Rule 3:Be Genuine).

The default sorting is by new to make sure new questions get visibility, but you can change the sorting to top if you want to see the most common/popular questions.

Sexuality & Gender How to stop squirting? NSFW

Upvotes

Whenever I have sex or masturbate I (almost) always squirt and it’s so annoying, messy und just overall disgusting (I just hate bodily fluids in general).
It creates such a mess and it’s not enjoyable feeling like ur peeing without wanting to. I know it may be „sexy“ or whatever to some, to me it’s just a bother.
My boyfriend doesn’t really mind but it just ruins the mood for me. It’s just all wet all of the sudden not even towels can stop it, it even washes away the lube so we have to use it again.
It’s not just that I squirt once and that’s it. I squirt like 3-5 times every time it just does not stop, not even if I peed beforehand.
How do I make it stop? I don’t wanna have to deal with it anymore

Habits & Lifestyle How often to switch out socks/air out feet to prevent athletes foot?

Upvotes

Hi, I'm autistic, and I really hate switching out socks for new ones, but I know I have to. I'd rather do it when I shower, so 3 times a week. Maybe 4, it really depends, idk. If I'm only changing socks 3 times a week, how often should I air out my feet so I don't get athletes foot? I know it's a stupid question, but I can't find anything on how long to let my feet breathe, only on how often to switch out socks.
I sleep with socks on so that's why I don't change them daily. If I take my socks off for whatever reason I do change to new ones, but I usually don't.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Habits & Lifestyle How do you just know what needs doing?

Upvotes

I (28NB) grew up in a controlling and abusive household where my parents very much didn't want me to leave, so I wasn't taught many life skills, but I would also be shamed for not knowing how to do things

I moved out a year ago into a place I inherited from my mom and I'm finding that I struggle to look at something and know what needs to be done, and apparently everyone else just knows? inherently?

I'm not talking like pick up trash, put away dirty dishes, don't leave your belongings in common areas if they don't need to be there, do laundry, stuff like that. that I can manage. but it's just... when I don't know where something needs to go, or what needs to be done to make an area less messy outside of those things I mentioned, I just balk. I don't have a single clue what I need to do. I've been told things need doing, but not what, and my roommates flat out refuse to give me any direction on what tasks to do

this is causing major strain on my relationships and as a result, my mental health. I want to stop being a burden. how do I learn how to know what needs doing?

edit: thank you guys a lot, you're helping me calm down and realize that this isn't as impossible as my brain is making it out to be. c-ptsd is a bitch, but I can do this

Current Events Why is it so bad that Patrick Clancy is trying to move on and start a new life?

Upvotes

People don't seem to know that the murders happened in 2023. He only remarried this year in April, a whole 3 years after the murders. Is it really that bad?

What would people rather he did? Live miserably for the rest of his life?

Culture & Society Are you not supposed to order off the menu at Subway?

Upvotes

I went to Subway the first time yesterday and ordered a menu item, then the employee kept asking what ingredients I wanted on it. I kept saying "what it comes with" and he gave me a weird look.

I asked my wife about this and she said that's normal?? I don't understand why they even have a menu if you have to tell the workers the entire ingredient list anyways.

Mental Health Am I an alcoholic?

Upvotes

I am F23, 5’2” and 107lbs for context. Lately I’ve been wondering whether I am an alcoholic or if my behaviours are concerning enough for me to have a substance use disorder. Maybe I am also in denial that it could be the case.

I rarely drink hard liquor, but I love beer. I tend to buy cases of 24 beers at a time, and sometimes buy beers the day after I run out. I drink 2 beers back to back and keep on drinking for the rest of the night, until I go to bed (drinking starts at 4pm-10pm). I can drink up to 5-8 beers in a night and have gone to 10 in a day after starting drinking at noon.

This has been an issue during university in the past, but now that I’ve dropped out and I’m not as stressed out, I don’t know why I’m still drinking. I picked it back up about 3-4 months ago.

Now I slack on my duties at home and professionally, to drink. Not because I plan on doing so, but I just find myself drinking sooner than intended.

When I get my hands on alcohol, I drink. When I don’t have any, I can survive but usually smoke more weed.

My family has also showed concern for me and my drinking habits after finding over 40 empty cans in my bedroom closet.

I still drink despite their concern. I know I sound like I have a problem, but it’s genuinely hard to digest because I’m only drinking what feels like a few beers every night when I have some

Sexuality & Gender Why are women more pushy at bars then men? NSFW

Upvotes

I'm a gay dude who goes out to Big crowded dance parties. I find that when in a crowd with a bunch of big dudes, the guys will make an effort to move their way through a crowd quickly while trying as best as they can to not knock the person in front of them over.

When I go to straight clubs or concerts... Women will literally shove me out of their way.

Are straight guys like that too? Do gays just push people out of the way less?

I'm just wondering why this is?

Love & Dating Am I [30F] reading too much into my bfs [31M] relationship with his male best friend?

Upvotes

I [30F] genuinely need outside opinions because I’ve gone back and forth on this SO many times.

Before anyone takes this the wrong way, I know men can have close male friends. I’m not saying “two men doing these things = gay.”
But this specific friendship has always given me a very weird vibe.

My boyfriend [31M] has a friend [42M]. They work together (where they met) and their friendship has always seemed unusually intense to me.

Biggest red flag is you will, is that friend has gotten hotel rooms for the two of them on 5-6 separate occasions. They weren’t traveling or needing somewhere to stay, we all live in the same town.
Boyfriend usually suddenly leaves around 11 PM, drunk, and will seemingly be in RUSH to get to friend. Like genuinely excited/giddy to leave and go over there.
Then they’d get up around 7 AM for work.
AND they would share a bed.
Two grown men who both have homes in the same town. So naturally I started to wonder, why are we getting a hotel room to spend 8 hours together if it’s to be just “sleeping” in the same bed?
The explanation was basically “we’re just sleeping,” or it was painted that the friend had gotten the rooms “just incase my boyfriend & I started fighting so he has somewhere to go,”but all the times he’s gone to stay, we hadn’t been fighting, which has never really made sense to me.

Then there’s the money.
Friend has paid for a LOT of expensive things for boyfriend. Multiple hotel rooms, getting boyfriend’s car fixed, and other things. At one point, friend also had boyfriend sign another lease while boyfriend was drunk, which was/is weird af to me, given how involved friend already is in his life.

They communicate constantly. If they’re not physically together, they’re on the phone or Discord. There have also been late night facetimes where friend is literally lying in bed shirtless talking to my boyfriend.
…🤨😂

Maybe I’m just unfamiliar with this kind of male friendship, because I’ve never personally had a friendship where we’d be getting hotel rooms in our own hometown, sharing a bed, talking basically nonstop, and one person was regularly paying for expensive things for the other.
I also realize none of these things individually prove anything. Friend could just be an extremely generous friend, and they could simply be unusually close.
But all together, I’ve definitely had moments where I’ve wondered if there’s something romantic/sexual going on that boyfriend isn’t telling me.

I don’t want to make assumptions about anyone’s sexuality based on stereotypes, though, so I’m more curious about the dynamic itself.
Would this strike you as unusually intimate/enmeshed for a friendship, or am I reading way too much into it?
And men especially, PLEASE tell me if this is actually normal male friendship behavior because I am genuinely willing to be humbled lmao

Sex Is it socially acceptable to be into cnc as the perpetrator (as a female)? NSFW

Consensual non-consent, if you're unfamiliar. In my case I have experienced SA in the past and now I like participating in cnc as the "rapist"

Media Was the movie Top Gun homoerotica disguised as an action movie?

Especially the volleyball scene. I mean, come on. If you've seen the movie, it likes to make a point of showing the guys standing around in their underwear, shirtless and with their behinds prominently displayed.

Family Are their any good people and marriages ?

Upvotes

I found out today that my dad has been cheating on my mom pretty regularly throughout their 20 years of marriage. I always idealised my parents especially my dad for being an ideal husband and father. I got to know some pretty disturbing and disgusting things about what he has done to my mom including cheating on her, stalking and some threats. This made me lose faith in everything idk if their are any good
people or marriages. Every marriage around me i feel has just gone downhill, they have either separated or are just living together for the sake of society or families. I always wanted to marry someone i love and have kids the ideal family but idk if it even exists now. Are all people and marriages like this? Is getting married or meeting people even worth it atp?

Sexuality & Gender Nipple orgasm? NSFW

Upvotes

There is something I’ve been wondering about:

As a woman, if I ask for prolonged foreplay - like having my partner suck on my nipples—because they are extremely sensitive, is that perceived by men as boring? Or off-putting? Or just a strange request?
I am a woman who can achieve orgasm through nipple stimulation; it is my most sensitive area, yet whenever I bring it up, I feel misunderstood or shut down. Is this weird?

Other Is it selfish to grieve a friendship I lost after rejecting him?

Upvotes

I had a good guy friend for over a year. He was someone I could talk to openly about anything, and he was supportive, reliable, and genuinely a good friend. I never had romantic feelings for him, but I cared about him deeply as a friend and really valued what we had.

He always told me he only saw me as a friend and would never develop feelings for me, he even knew I was interested and involved with someone else and was so supportive about it. So I was completely caught off guard when he eventually confessed that he had apparently had feelings for me all along. I rejected him because I simply didn’t feel the same way.

He wanted to take some time to heal but was adamant that he would eventually come back because he valued our friendship. He tried reconnecting about five months later, but I could still sense lingering feelings and some resentment (insulting me, justifying the abuse I faced, bad mouthing me and told me he wanted to kill me as a “joke”). I was deeply hurt I couldn’t even recognize him anymore so I asked for space.

Now, after a month, he’s unfollowed me on everything. I respect that this may be what he needs to move on, but I can’t help grieving the friendship and the memories we shared.

Will this get easier? I tend to hold onto people and memories, so it’s been difficult. I just hope I don’t sound selfish for grieving the friendship when he’s the one whose feelings were hurt.

Ethics & Morality Is it "OK" for an almost 30 year old to be friends with minors in a theater class?

Upvotes

Lurker here, don't know if I used the correct flair. Prefacing by saying I'm feom the Caribbean, the DR if ya wanna be specific.I (28F) have always liked musical theater, I took some classes as a child, participated in a Peter Pan play once, and have been hooked ever since.

Due to life, and my mother mostly, I couldn't continue actively doing those things. Now that I'm an adult with my own money, I looked into places that I could take clases and found an academy that accepted adults, specifically a 15+ up age group, where they teached anyone between the ages of 15 to 35. I applied and got in.

First day I connect with a boy and a girl over shared interests (video games, TV Show and movies, animated shows, comics, etc). Thinking they were 21 or something like that. Turns out they are both 15. Actually the entire class is, between the ages of 15 to 19. Of maybe 20-30 peoplw, the only other person close my age is a girl who is 26 and then there is a woman who is 41. Everyone else is a minor.

It really threw me off how much older I am, I could literally be the mother of a few of those kids. I dont know how to assess this situation, since I will keep interacting with all of them for the better part of a year, since that's how long the program lasts.

Edit: forgive any spelling mistakes, am on mobile

Other What do I do?

Upvotes

I had an extremely traumatic event in my early teens that resulted in years of depression/agoraphobia. After the traumatic event, my parents pulled me out of school to be homeschooled, but they were in a weird cult situation at the time and basically my "homeschooling" was not accredited and because of the community they were involved in everyone became very isolated. I never worked because I was supported by my family in exchange for helping them/my grandparents out but I was severely depressed and basically not functional most of this time. I am now 26 and something suddenly clicked and I am coming out of what I realize was a depressive/ptsd/anhedonia thing and realizing that I have to (get to) live a life I had not planned on being here for. I do not have a diploma/degree or any work experience and am very nervous about the future. Not sure where to start. Thank you.

Culture & Society I’m considering possibly applying for a sales job in a women’s clothing store but I’m a man. Is that strange?

Upvotes

I do not have any job at women’s clothing store at the moment. Right now I work at an ice cream shop and a deli in a grocery store.

I’m writing this tho because I’m always looking on indeed for possibly some better jobs or something along those lines. And I saw a posting for a women’s clothing store thats 5 minutes away from my home.

What caught my eye is that the pay was bigger than the ice cream shop and the deli and it had a 401K according to Indeed.

Obviously problem 1 is maybe they don’t want men and my resume would automatically get thrown away. That’s probably what would happen but MAYBE… somehow not. And that’s where I am now.

I’m a straight man who’s just trying to get money, go home, ajd feed a 401K while also feeding the stock market. Like idk if they would be like “you can’t work here.” I’m curious

So would that be weird and not really what people expect? I feel like I would be a black sheep. BTW. I didn’t apply to anything yet. This is just something that’s bouncing in my head

Culture & Society Someone Explain to Me Why MoistKritical is So Popular?

Upvotes

Whenever I get the suggestion on my algorithm and watch it, it's usually a combination of:

(1) a word salad of insults that seems mad-libbed based and complaining;

(2) ironic laughter, which is kind of weird; and

(3) very little actual information regarding the opinion.

I don't get it and really sort of need folks to walk me through it.

Also, thank god for the copy and paste function because whenever I ask these questions, some neckbeard with a Discord kitten removes it.
