One of the unique things about Tokyo Disney is that they still release park music on formats other than streaming. In the past year, they've had at least 5 CD releases including two box sets. This is the second LP released recently including Big Band Beat last December.

I have only recently heard about “kettle corn” and learned that the sugar was incorporated into the oil during the popping process.

Is the flavouring of TDR popcorn added after popping? Or is it added as part of the oil mix during the popping process?

Quite a specific question. Currently in TDR. I’ve misplaced a USB-C>Lightning cable, and the normal USB>Lightning cable is a little wonky and not reliable.

I’ve looked on the Ikspiari website and can’t seem to find anywhere that might sell one. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Trip Report - Thursday, Sept 3rd

Thanks for all the information. It helped maximize our day at DisneySea. Here’s our trip report in case it helps others.

Us : Family of four. My kids are twin 12 year olds both with food allergies. We’ve been to WDW three times. Live the US.

We were in the park from open to close. Showed up at rope drop around 8:30, through security around 9:15 and inside the park by 9:20.

We rode 12 rides in this order :
Rupunzel (60 min wait), Raging Spirits (dpa), sinbad (10 mins wait), 20000 Leagues (20 mins wait), Journey (dpa), Aquatopia (40 min wait), Peter Pan (30 mins), Peter Pan (30 mins), Toy Story Mania (dpa), Flounders Flying Fish (10 mins), Peter Pan (15 mins), Aquatopia (60 mins)

Unexpected Hits -
*Peter Pan - we had low expectations for Peter Pan and it was wonderful! We loved the feeling of flying.

*Aquatopia - I laughed the most on this ride. As long as you don’t mind getting soaked it’s a ton on fun.

Notes -
*It’s was in the high 80s and humid all day. I was surprised with how manageable the park was in this heat. Lots of queues have fans or ac and there are vending machines for drinks everywhere.

*I knew we wanted a full day as DisneySea. We didn’t have enough to do a full day at each park. So the day prior to we did 5pm - 9pm tickets to Disneyland. Glad we visited both parks. It’s unlikely we will ever be back as a family.

*oops - I didn’t understand the layout and power walked us straight from our entrance to the entrance across the way. Didn’t know to turn up into the park once inside.

*Told my kids to expect a crowded park with long lines like our experience at Epic Universe in Sept 2025. Though it was crowded and there were long lines at some rides there were so many quick rides (Sinbad for example) that we could experience 12 rides total.

*We originally planned to rope drop Journey To The Center of the Earth but it was down at the start of the day. So we pivoted to Rapunzel.

*Virtually no line cutting. After WDW it was so pleasant to only have a handful of people total pass us in line to meet up with their group.

*Husband and I both logged into the app as me. Streamlined everything for us.

We left exhausted and satisfied with our day.

Visited the park on 9 July 2026

This review is about two months late because, frankly, I was so disappointed with my own planning that I couldn’t bring myself to write it until now 😂

I reached DisneySea at 8:30am on a 9am opening day.
Which, by Disney standards, is already late. By Japanese Disney standards? Fatally late. I failed.

The queue just to enter the park was already really long, and I died a little standing under the hot sun. I eventually made it inside at around 9:30am.

While queuing, I also saw a non-Japanese couple zig-zagging through people and cutting the queue all the way towards the front. Super frustrating. To be fair, some of the gaps appeared because people were glued to their phones and weren't moving forward with the queue, but still… watching someone take advantage of that was annoying.

I digress.

Once I entered, I quickly tried to snag a pass for Frozen while walking towards 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

By the time I reached, the queue was already around 100 minutes. And for some reason, I thought: Yes, I will queue. Giant mistake. Poor decision-making.

The wait ended up being more than 120 minutes, so by late morning I was already exhausted from queuing and had basically lost half the morning. Thank goodness most of the queue was indoors and air-conditioned.

In hindsight, I really should have spent that time walking around, taking photos and enjoying the park atmosphere, then tried to get a paid pass for 20,000 Leagues later at 10:30am (1 hour after my Frozen DPA).

As for the ride itself? It was cool, but also surprisingly short. The more thrilling section ended so quickly that after waiting two hours, I was basically thinking: That was it?

Next, I went for the single rider queue at Raging Spirits. That took around 40 minutes, which wasn't exactly fast, but it was still much better than the regular queue. I was grateful I managed to ride it.

By this point though, I was already feeling pretty defeated.

I tried walking around and exploring, but the heat made it difficult to enjoy myself properly. Eventually I escaped into Mermaid Lagoon, and honestly, it was as pretty as I remembered from my visit more than 10 years ago. That part made me happy.

Then it was time to use my 40th Anniversary Priority Pass for Journey to the Center of the Earth. Cool ride. Definitely showing its age though, it was ok for me.

At this stage I decided I needed to make up for lost time, so I bought a paid pass for Tower of Terror.

Best decision of the day.

I've ridden Tower of Terror once before at Tokyo DisneySea and once in Anaheim, and it remains one of my favourite Disney rides.

Then came Anna and Elsa's Frozen Journey. Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but… I preferred the Hong Kong Disneyland Frozen ride.

I don't even know exactly why. I just came off the Tokyo version feeling slightly underwhelmed after all the hype.

After that, I used the single rider queue for Peter Pan, which somehow also took close to 40 minutes. It was nice, and I can see why people enjoy it, but personally I didn't find it that impressive.

By around 6pm, I was completely burnt out from the heat and the queues and decided to leave. I didn't even have the energy to stay for the nighttime show.

Ironically, two of my favourite parts of the entire day were the ¥800 Kirin beer and ¥900 turkey leg.
Sitting down with those after hours of walking and queuing felt absolutely glorious.

And by the end of the day, I came to a slightly sad conclusion:

I don't think DisneySea is really for me.

I completely understand why people love it. The park is gorgeous, the theming is incredibly detailed and some of the rides are excellent.

But for me, the combination of very long queues, intense heat and fewer of the classic Disney characters made the waiting much harder to justify.

At Disneyland, even when the queues are terrible, I still enjoy simply existing in that very “Disney” atmosphere — seeing familiar characters, cute decorations and all the nostalgic Disney stuff around me. That helps make the downtime between rides feel like part of the experience.

Arriving earlier and being much more aggressive with the various passes probably would have completely changed my day. But I won’t known

Hello! We booked one night at Grand Chateau the day before our Unlimited VP starts. The goal is using this day to have a relax experience at DS to explore and going back on the third day (2nd day of VP) for rides. We already booked La Libellule as Room Service Dinner the night at Grand Chateau, we have young children and seems more comfortable dining in room. We also have a booked restaurant at Magellan's the second night of the VP.

We also want to have a sit-down meal at Ritorante di Canaletto since the view is beautiful. The most logical day will the first day we arrive at DS without the VP. Do you think it's too many sit-down dining experience? Also has anyone dine there during the day in December and sit outside by the canal? Is it too cold to dine outside?

So rides like Turtle talk, Nemo, Magic Lamp, 20000 Leagues etc no longer have any public priority lane access pass. But they are still advertised as part of the vacation packages.

Any on the ground report on how they are operating at the moment? Are the priority lanes still "staffed" by someone in the past (presumably the QR code scanner is no longer used given VP tickets don't use QR codes)?

We're planning a 3-day / 2-night vacation package at Tokyo Disney Resort in April 2027, ideally staying at Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta. We're aiming to book the moment the reservation window opens, and our dates fall on weekdays.

A few things I'd love input on from people who've been recently:

1. Booking day. How competitive is it realistically for MiraCosta on weekdays? Should we expect to be fighting a queue the second it opens, or is there a bit more breathing room midweek?
2. The renovation work. This is our main worry. I know some rooms are currently blocked from reservation, but if we end up in a different wing, are we actually fine? Any construction noise in the mornings, paint or chemical smells, blocked walkways, scaffolding views? Firsthand experiences would help a lot here.
3. First day plans. We're considering adding a DisneySea day at the start of the trip with no particular agenda — just to wander and get a feel for the park. Does that hold up, or is it worth planning more than that?
4. Birthday extras. This is a surprise for my wife's birthday, and she's a huge Ariel fan. If there's anything worth doing for that — birthday stickers, a specific restaurant, a Mermaid Lagoon–adjacent room type, a character interaction, anything at all — I'd love to hear it.

I set my app to Japanese in order to see the merch, but it’s been like this for a week and a half mow. I have tried opening it on data and on WiFi. Both times- nothing showed up :/

Is this happening with other ppl too?

I've been on this park today and unfornately feel that it was not worth at all. I saw other topics here saying the same and the opposite, so why does this happen?

I don't agree that the only reason people complain is because they don't plan or smt like that.I saw videos before, arrived quite early (before admission time), avoided weekend, was ready to face giant lines as I did on Disneyland yesterday, but still ended up leaving angry and disappointed.

My first ride was Tower of Terror. The ride is cool, as they mostly are. But it was so short. We endured one hour and a half and it ended in less than 3 minutes. While the ride is not bad, it was not good enough to justify the waiting with people calling us "gaijin" over and over again.

We ended up walking through the park most of the day, got to less crowded options (Peter pan single-ride line was the best one) and finally got to Journey to the Center of the Earth that I decided to pay access cause the line was over 90 minutes and I was searching for something more adventurous. Even without the frustration of waiting in the line, we.were so surprised how fast it ended. Not worth the priority pass neither waiting.

Now the most frustrating part. I wanted to ride at least Frozen and Raging Spirits since the one I wanted the most (Indiana Jones) was closed. Since the waiting line were over 2 hours on both, we decided to ask if there was a single rider line and the employees always said it was unavailable but it could return later. We waited for hours until finally Frozen opened single.rider and we entered. I'm not lying that after some minutes they decided to drop the single rider line entirely, kicking us out of the line with "sorry". At this point I decided to leave.

The park is really beautiful and the rides are good-ish, so I can see why people defend it. If you're into beautiful scenery, shopping and wave at Disney characters, it's perfect. But if you're going for the rides...idk. They are not bad, but they are not good enough or do not last enough to value the time or money they demand.

February 2027 Vacation Packages will open for booking next week, September 3rd 2026, at 3pm JST.

Potential Early Park Closures: DisneySea will likely close at 6.30pm on 2/5 and 2/19.  Disneyland will likely close at 6.30pm on 2/26. Ride closures: Several popular rides will be closed for maintenance part or all of this month, including Journey to the Center of the Earth (2027/1/8-3/8), Splash Mountain and Haunted Mansion (Both reopening 2/5), Jungle Cruise (2027/1/6-3/30) and Star Tours (2027/2/5-2/18).  So check the closure lists before deciding to book.

Learn about how VP pricing works

If you have never booked a Vacation Package before, you might have some questions like: is it all inclusive? Does it include food? Is it compulsory to choose food? Why is the price variable? How come there is a "quote" that says "For 1 person per night per room" but I can never get that price or it seems so random (larger room seems cheaper)? See this post here.

VP Chaining 101 (i.e. if 2 nights just isn't enough)

The 2N2D packages are great "Swiss army knife" packages that enables chaining of Vacation Packages together to enable longer packages.

You can book them in front (Ticket on Day 1 and Day 2 type) or behind (Ticket on Day 2 and Day 3 type) any other VP - even itself - to create a longer packaged vacation. For example, Unlimited VP + 2N2D (Ticket on Day 2 and Day 3) = 3 night 4 days vacation (TDL/TDS/TDL/TDS), or 2N3D + 2N2D = 4 night 5 days vacation (TDL/TDS/TDS/TDL/TDS). While technically they remain two separate package reservations, if you are careful to book the exact same room type/specification, it is almost like you had a longer package (just contact TDR to put a note informally linking them after booking).

Booking tips: Can I just set an alarm and go to the site at 3pm JST?

That might be too late. There is a queue system that is implemented when website traffic picks up. If you start at 3pm you might not get through until hours later. You might have to start checking the site from as early as 2pm JST until you find a session with the perfect queue exit time no earlier than 2.45pm-2.50pm.

Please also note that the TDR IT system does not perform well when it’s under load.  So even if you manage to get through the queue, you might get kicked out during the booking process.  You might want to stagger a few sessions 30 minutes apart (it is not a bad idea to have one that starts at e.g. 4pm, 5pm JST etc) as last month many people who got through around 3pm got kicked off eventually.

I manage to book the same room type as a standalone hotel room booking (before or after) my Vacation Package.  How do I notify the hotel to avoid changing rooms?

Once you have made all the reservations, use the official hotel online form (and under "Type of Inquiry" choose "Request to link multiple stays with different reservation numbers and assign them to the same room"), so you don't have to change rooms. The bookings will remain separate and nothing gets "combined". Your VP remains pre-paid and has different cancellation policies and deadlines compared to your hotel bookings (which is deposit only and remainder payable upon check-in).

IMPORTANT: Just double check to make sure you book rooms that has the identical room type/room name/floor range (if applicable), number of beds and room size (in m2) as otherwise it would result in a room change.

Under the “unlimited rides on eligible attractions” package, the description says “Enjoy churros, popcorn, or frozen dessert as much as you like!”  Do I get all of those in my package?

No, unfortunately! The operative word there is the “or”. Your entire party must choose just one type of snack ticket.  That is, either churros, or popcorn or frozen packaged desserts.  If you choose churros then you will not have any popcorn.  Everyone in your party will have the same ticket type and you cannot mix-and-match.  Not all snack ticket type is offered at all times (e.g. during summer, popcorn is not an option; during winter months there will not be any frozen dessert option).  See this post here.

Do I get Happy Entry (early entry) with a Vacation Package?

Not necessarily. It depends on which hotel you are booking as part of the package.

Thought I’d post a quick review as I used this subreddit for months of reading around how to maximize a single day at DisneySea. Quick summary and a few tips/don’t sweats! I’ll preface by saying - we went in expecting to pay for as many DPAs as made sense AND we also both really like the shows so we prioritized a few of these over hitting every single ride which differs from a lot of the reviews I’ve read on here.

This was from Monday August 24th (yesterday).

We arrived at 7:20 and there were LOTS of people already which turned into thousands by rope drop. The gates opened at 8:38 before the scheduled 9:00am opening (which from reading is the norm generally). We did the classic “enter the park and start getting our passes”. Did a DPA right off the hop for Frozen (9:25) and a 40th anniversary pass for 20,000 leagues (10:45). We went straight to Peter Pan which was a 9 minute line up. After Peter Pan we walked over and did Frozen and once 9:25 hit I got a second DPA for Soarin’. After Frozen we walked around a bit and got a breakfast sausage roll at the Nautilus cafe before 20,000 leagues which we did at our 10:45 time. During the brief lineup I placed a DPA for 13:25 Journey as well as ground seating for Believe!.

By 10:50 we had already done 3 rides so we took a break to walk around, explore, have some Mickey ice cream/popsicles before doing Soarin’ at 11:50.

During this break my wife decided she wanted to do the Duffy and Friends dinner/show (she has a particular affinity for Duffy). In the DPA line for Soarin’ we booked a DPA for Tower of Terror at 12:35 and did a DPA for 15:55 Dreams Take Flight. I placed a mobile order for lunch at this time as well. We did Tower at 12:35 and then had lunch. During the walk we did our last DPA for 18:55 Toy Story. During lunch unfortunately Journey went down so we could not use the DPA - Journey was down for 3-4 hours and when it re-opened they only let DPA pass holders use it essentially for the rest of the day (it briefly re-opened around 7:30-8 for non DPA guests).

Due to this being cancelled we took a longer lunch break to cool down and chill out as we were already pretty tired. Our afternoon then went 14:45 - Sindbad (which was as awesome as people said!) and then 15:55 dreams take flight. This show was FANTASTIC - way better than expected. We then went over and got a spot for the 17:00 Sparkling Jubilee which was a very cute show - this is largely skippable as Believe is a bigger and better version and this show was still quite hot in the sun at 17:00. My wife enjoyed it a lot but for me it was so-so.

We meandered over for the 17:50 Duffy and friends show - this is definitely geared towards younger kids who largely seemed to enjoy it, again as did my wife.

After the show we had a bit of a fast pace to end the day with 18:55 Toy Story, using our previously cancelled DPA on Journey at 19:30 and then just making it to our reserved seating for Believe!. We were smart and started making our way to the exit just before Believe finished at 20:45 which let us beat most of the crowd and get back to Ueno by 21:35.

Overall AWESOME day. We prioritized shows so missed out on Rapunzel, Ragin’ and Nemo which were on the list but really we only lined up for one ride (Sindbad) for 20 mins. The DPAs were entirely worth it. I highly recommend a really early arrival time (7:15-7:25) as that allowed us to crush the first 1-2 hours. Definitely mobile order food as this saved tons of time too.

The bad parts of the day: - 40th anniversary passes: we did our one on 20,000 leagues and after that no passes came back, by far the longest lines were ragin’ spirits (90-120 mins for the entire day as of like 9am) and Nemo (vs 20,000 only had 30-50 mins most of the day) so if I could go back I would’ve got one for Ragin’ and either skipped or lined up for 20,000 leagues (probably our least fave ride of the day) - journey breaking down slowed the middle of the day down and trying to squeeze it in (as it was the ride I wanted most) after we had booked a bunch of other stuff was a tad stressful - not so much “bad” as unexpected but the DPA line was often still a decent line - tower of terror this was 20 mins as was Toy Story, still way better than lining up standby but we planned some things tightly together that I would’ve spaced out more had I anticipated this a bit better.

Final thoughts: This was an awesome and jam packed day but I felt we did pretty much all we set out to do. Doing this type of day with meandering in after open, not buying DPAs and expecting to see a lot just doesn’t work. The heat was super manageable as most lines were shaded or indoors. We are now decompressing at an onsen today - highly recommend this order of events also!
