Other I LOOOVE getting paresthesia!!!!
I love when my feet fall asleep! I like the pins and needles feeling! while I don't do it super often to avoid nerve damage, I love raising my arm for a little to lose circulation cause I love the feeling of it and I love the feeling of blood returning! sometimes I purposefully try and make my feet fall asleep and love moving them during and getting that pins and needles feeling!!!! I've always liked it. I like the simple feeling of them being asleep too, but I like the pins and needles a little more. I do the same thing with raising my limbs to cut off circulation with my legs too. I am very careful with it because I don't want nerve damage but if there was no risk id do that all the time đ©·

Upvote. It's the fucking worst when your legs fall asleep and I get this awful nauseous, falling feeling whenever I try to fix it.

I dare you to jump up and run as fast as you can next time you notice them fallen asleep :D

I'm no neurologist but I think you might already have some form of nerve damage if simply raising your limbs causes this, and you're definitely not avoiding exacerbating it by only doing it "a little bit."

it doesn't cause it allll of the time, mostly if I'm laying down (and even then it doesn't always work), and it takes a minute to start. but that's scary đ„č thank you for letting me know

I think what they're talking about is holding your legs/arms up to weaken the blood flow

Raising your limb(s) above the level of the heart is well documented to reduce blood pressure in the raised limb(s). This is because the heart now has to fight the force of gravity to push the blood to the most distal aspects of the limb, while the venous blood falls toward the heart. If youâve ever taken a basic first aid course, you may have heard the acronym R.I.C.E. It stands for ârest, ice, compression, and elevation,â and is the standard layperson first aid treatment of minor injuries to the limbs. Elevation meaning placing the injured body part in a place that is above the level of the heart. So if you injure your ankle, you canât just sit in a chair and put your foot up across from youâwell, you could but it wouldnât be benefitting from thisâyou need to actually lay yourself down and prop your whole lower leg up from the knee to the ankle with a couple pillows.
All OP is doing is momentarily depriving the nerves of blood flow in a far more extreme instance of the aforementioned elevation. Itâs the same thing as standing up too fast and seeing TV static/getting lightheaded. Whether itâs dangerous or not is not my place to say but I donât personally think you would see any marked detriment without doing it for literal hours at a time repetitively over a substantially long period.

The part I found more concerning is how easily it happens for them. Like I said, though, I'm no neurologist

Okay but what about the middle part when they wake up a little bit and it gets really hurty?
•
u/dreamingririka 1d ago
I've actually never experienced that !

Lucky! Itâs the absolute worst. After my foot is asleep for a bit, and I move it enough, it starts feeling like all the meat in my leg is liquifying. It is awful.

My foot once fell asleep so badly that I couldn't feel it at all. Tried to walk it off and apparently failed so badly that I broke my foot. Fml
Also the pins and needles for me are UNBEARABLE. Like it makes me feel almost nauseous(? not exactly but there's not another close enough word) to even move them when they're like that. Upvoted.

note: I didn't break it solely by walking on it while it was asleep, I don't think thats a thing thankfully!
I'm pretty sure my brain-to-foot signals were not working correctly and weren't moving like I told them too lmao,,, so I'm pretty sure I accidentally kinda folded my foot in half and tried to walk on the top side of my toes. Don't be me, y'all!

Hi, I really like this feeling, and I also coincidentally have horrid bloodflow in my legs so if I sit without moving in certain positions - generally when really focused on gaming for hours - I'll start to feel it lol.
Generally, when you feel the noise-feeling kick in, get up and move around. If not, after a bit, you genuinely won't feel your leg at all. It's a weird but cool feelings. Makes me wonder how the fuck pirates got around on those wooden legs.
This happens cause not enough blood gets to that specific area, so your control over it slowly fading, but I'm no doctor, this is js what I've gathered from my accidental experiments.
Make sure to hold on to something when you get this noise-feeling, too, else you'll fall over lol.

Yeah I feel that. Or... I don't?
But yeah the tingles make my foot feel super bouncy. I won't walk on it, but I'll bounce my foot on the floor while it's numb like that
And then... the hand... we've all heard the jokes...

I entirely agree and I didnât even know this was a 10th dentist. If I didnât know better I would purposefully do it to myself all the time but I still love whenever it happens accidentally and maybe let it go on a little too long.

Downvoted. I don't go as far as to seek it out, but the sheer relief of the blood returning to the area is pretty good for me.

It's also interesting to walk around not feeling a leg, like, wow, is this how people with prosthetics feel? It's kinda like going blind but being able to see again after a minute. Idk, it just seems interesting, and it's gotta have some value in researching stuff for prosthetics.
