In today's CM address in TN assembly, Vijay mocked former CM M.K.Stalin by dragging "we all know the history of MISA & arrest". He showed a hand gesture near his Chin by denoting how Stalin's face got deformed by police attack in custodial torture during Emergency.

Little did this jerk know Emergency was darkest period in post independence India where every political outfits, their functioning, state rights were curbed unlawfully. DMK under Karunanidhi was one among very few parties that resisted the authoritarian regime. Their govt was dismissed, party men were arrested and made through rigorous custodial torture.

More than undermining the struggle it's almost body shaming former CM in assembly which normalises being unemphathitic, rhetorical, not maintaining a decorum among the public especially kids.

As the title says... facing an wildlife emergency in Kannamoochi village, Mettur (Salem district). Over the past month, a pair of leopards (at least two have been visually confirmed by villagers) has slaughtered over 20 livestock and dogs. This is the first time the village has ever experienced a predator attack.

What did the forest dept. do...NOTHING. Whenever we report a kill or sight, they arrive, burst some firecrackers, sound their sirens, and drive away and never to be seen for next 3-4 days and they repeat the same. They have made zero effort to properly track or capture these animals using cages or tranquilizers. It's been almost a month and and don't know how to escalate this problem further. Any help would be appreciated...

I regularly travel 230+ km between Chennai and my hometown, and recently I’ve been feeling very exhausted while travelling. Even around 9 AM, the heat feels like afternoon, and my day starts with tiredness.

I don’t know whether this is related to El Niño or not, but it made me think about our environment.

I feel the government should focus more on improving environmental conditions. I’m not saying freebies or welfare schemes should stop, but creating a peaceful, healthy and comfortable environment should also be a priority.

If people can travel and work without constantly feeling exhausted because of heat and pollution, I believe it can improve our productivity, society and even our GDP.

From my POV, we could start with things like properly maintaining and trimming thorny trees where needed, and providing easily accessible, comfortable AC buses. If public transport becomes comfortable enough, more people may choose it instead of private vehicles, which could also reduce traffic.

But this also needs responsibility from us as citizens. If we want better public transport and public spaces, we should also take care of them.

What do you think? What can we realistically do to heal our environment and make Tamil Nadu more comfortable to live in?

Hi everyone, I have a doubt regarding college admission in Chennai/Tamil Nadu.

Suppose a student from the 2024 passed-out batch failed only in one subject in 11th standard but passed 12th standard. If the student got admission into a college based on their 12th qualification, would they be legally/academically eligible to continue their UG course?

Also, what would happen if the student didn't inform the college that they had failed 11th, and continued studying without disclosing it, all the way until the final year?

Would the college/university verify the 11th standard result or school records at any stage? If they find out only during final-year certificate verification, graduation, or degree issuance, could the student's admission or degree be cancelled?

I'm specifically asking about Chennai/Tamil Nadu colleges, especially Arts & Science colleges.

If anyone has experienced something similar or knows the actual admission/verification process, please share.

My boyfriend and I are doing long distance between India and Africa, with a 5½-hour time difference. We’ve done LDR before, but communication was much easier when we were both in India.

He started a new job about 1.5 months ago. He leaves for work around 8 AM and finishes around 5 to 5:30 PM his time. Since there’s barely any texting during the day because he’s busy at work, our only real time to talk is usually at night.

The calls can start anywhere between 11 PM to 12 AM for me and sometimes go on until 1 AM or later. I’ve been trying really hard to fix my sleep schedule, so I suggested that we talk around 6:30 AM his time instead, even if it’s just for some time before he goes to work. He said he’d do it daily, but he rarely does.

I suggested that we make some schedule and things to do for our relationship. He eventually created one where we would do a weekly recap every sunday and have an online date every Sunday, and do other things together on different days, like studying, playing games, or talking about each other’s interests. But most of that hasn’t happened. Even creating the schedule itself led to a lot of arguments because he kept saying he would do it and then didn’t. Eventually, he gave me the schedule, but the online date has only happened once. The weekly Sunday recap is basically the only thing that has happened consistently.

What should I do ?

If it helps let’s set a 15 min daily limit for reddit and do not override it until this trend passes. Do not engage with the on going Tamil vs Kerala conflict on Reddit. In no time, this manufactured animosity between neighbors could turn into dirty conflicts in the real world. The unfortunate part is innocent people who aren’t aware of this nonsense will be the ones getting affected the most. Yaaru mela thappu irunthaalum ok, let’s not dig it further and leave it alone. There is no logical end to this rhetoric and only way to put it off is to not feed it. Let the IT cell dogs keep barking alone and they will move onto other hate projects.

Chennai has the best airport in the country (if not the world). We can easily reach 1.5 - 2 trillion in 5 years since we have eliminated 30% commission by the previous govt. All the noise about the airport and investments are just katharals. We have got Keerthana who's very talented and got 1 lakh crore investments in 100 days. If we continue at this rate we can easily get 1.8 million crore investments in 5 years and can be the biggest economy in the country. Change my mind.
